In the past, I was a single mother of two who worked full time, went to school full time, and raised my sons. I am currently a 46-year-old, stay-at-home Nana raising a spectacular grandson (my 5th grandchild) and blessed with the greatest husband on the planet. I will soon be a stay-at-home Nana who has a grandson in school and helps her husband support the family working as a Medical Transcriptionist. I love dancing, music, logic puzzles, crosswords, Yahtzee, BINGO, and crochet. When time (and quiet) allow, I love to read Stephen King and Brian Lumley books.
Do you think McCain might be a risk?
This is not meant to be anything but a serious concern. There is a lot to be said for someone with the Presidential power having a calmer temperment and getting the advice of counsel before reacting. Senator McCain sounds like Mr. Rogers but he reacts like Rambo. Examples would be Palin, reaction to Russia, "suspending" campaign, and telling the President what to do. My concern is that POWs tend to have PTSD and that results in some nasty reactions in some people. I don't see how someone who went through what he went through (and God bless him for it), could have gotten out without it causing a few scars on the inside, too. Does anyone else worry about him being able to push a button on a whim?
17 AnswersElections1 decade agoThe real "dream ticket"?
I was always taught "if you're going to dream, dream big" so here goes. I was just watching the news and they said Obama and Clinton folks were talking. Here's my idea:
How about if Obama really does want change and unity among democrats? I suggest that to prove it he could go to the DNC, give his delegates to Hillary, and he can be the VP. That takes care of the "WOW" factor the analysts are looking for. It would also allow us to sit back and watch the McCain campaign just sort of fold up and blow away.
Any other BIG DREAMERS out there?
10 AnswersElections1 decade agoNeed computer games for four year old...?
My grandson lives with me and has been playing with learning games like LeapFrog and WhizKid. Now I'd like to find some sites that allow him to "play" on the computer. He will start school in August and I know they have computers in Pre-K. Thanks.
1 AnswerToys1 decade agoOriginal Kids Say The Darndest things show?
I was on the Art Linkletter (House Party?) show when I was 5 years old (1967) and have paid for it every since. I'd really love to find a recording of "my" episode. I told him that my mother went to PTA meetings and got drunk. Needless to say, my mother didn't think it was as funny as everyone else did.
To add insult to injury I was interviewed by a local news network when Mr. Linkletter came to my town. The network agreed to get me in to explain to him my mother is not a lush. They interviewed me after I cleared this matter up with him. They, however, edited the interview before airing it and the result was, 17 years later, I apologized for my mother being a drunk. I just can't win for losing.
I'd really LOVE to find that episode. My kids have never seen it even though they've heard about it their entire lives. I'm certain my grandchildren will too. Thanks for any help!!
P.S. She did get drunk at a PTA meeting. It just wasn't an everyday event and I was ONLY 5!
