1997 Grand Cherokee coolant loss?
So my brother's Jeep decided to dump coolant on all over the ground tonight.
Based on where sound dampening fabric under the is wet, it looks like the expansion tank cap blew off.
My question to you all is: There is a hose that runs into the back of the expansion tank (I assume it's the return line) that isn't connected on the other end. I spent a good 10min looking for something that it might plug in to but gave up since it was dark. Where does it connect and if it isn't a return line then what is it?
2 AnswersJeep9 years ago1994 Ranger 3.0l dies when...?
Asking this for a girl at work whose truck was left in a Walgreen's parking lot for a couple days because it died and wouldn't restart.
Turns out, it died when she turned on the AC, and wouldn't restart until it was turned off.
I'm a VW guy, I've done some searching but haven't found anything solid. Mostly, I am led to believe that she's got a vacuum leak somewhere or a bad IAC.
Any other suggestions?
1 AnswerFord9 years agoWeird iPod crash problem (5th gen 80gb)?
Haven't used my iPod in a few days. Tried to yesterday, the usual plug it into my car's stereo via USB. The stereo (never done this before) tells me that my iPod isn't compatible. I look at the iPod and the screen looks grayed and black and white, the screen is very dim as well.
So next I unplug it and attempt to listen through headphones. First, it is frozen in an "Ok to disconnect" screen unlike the normal one. Black and white, text only.
I do the reset, it immediately crashes, I can hear it's hard disk spinning down. After the crash it restarts itself (the Apple screen) then says "Connect to power," however I know it is charged as it is almost always plugged into my stereo which charges it. After that screen goes away, it goes back to the dimmed, grayed, black and white screen. It starts by saying "Do not disconnect" then after a few seconds switches to "Ok to disconnect."
Then today I figure what the hell, I'll plug it in to a power outlet (wall) and see what happens. I plug it in and reset it because it is still stuck on "Ok to disconnect." Like before it immediately crashes, restarts, and says "Connect to power." This time, instead of going to the disconnect screens, it displays nothing, a blank, dimmed, grayed screen slightly reminiscent of the really old iPods that lacked color screens.
Anyone dealt with this before. I've done some Googling and other surfing of Apple forums but nothing is similar and almost always is dealing with a crash or freeze that is a result of being connected to a computer.
1 AnswerMusic & Music Players9 years agoAre you aware of our true national debt? Worth reading!!?
In 2030 77 million baby boomers will be old, old enough to all be holding out their hands waiting for their Social Security checks and hobbling into doctor's offices and hospitals with discounts of 80% and 100%. You already know who gets the foot the bill for those, us, America's young generation, those of you who haven't even made it to high school yet, me, who will graduate college in two years, all of us.
Problem is, by 2030, instead of the ratio of Social Security beneficiaries being 16:1 like in 1937 when Social Security was started it will be 2:1. There will be twice as many retirees and roughly only 20% more workers to support them.
Circa 2004: Over the past 4 years the government increased discretionary spending by 33%, expanded entitlement spending 18%, cut taxes by 12%, and raised official debt by 25%. It has vowed to make current tax cuts permanent, expand payments to the elderly, and spend WHATEVER it takes to win the war on terror.
Since 2000, Medicare benefits per beneficiary have grow 2.6 times faster than the wages of the workers paying the benefits.
What I'm getting at is our FISCAL gap (the present value difference between the government's future receipts and future expenditures).
In 2002, a study done by Dr. Jagadeesh Gokhale and Dr. Kent Smetters, both highly respected economists, measured the current fiscal gap to be $45 TRILLION dollars. 11 times larger than the stated national debt, and 4 times larger than GDP.
To fix that today (2008 data) we would need to either, increase federal income taxes by over 74%, increase payroll taxes by over 103%, cut federal purchases by 115%, or cut Social Security AND Medicare by 47%.
If we continue to let our politicians, pass the buck, by 2030 the gap will be in excess of $76 TRILLION.
To all the baby boomers: You are committing fiscal child abuse, you are forcing your (great)grandchildren to pay exponentially higher taxes over their working lives so you can live out your old age without a care in the world. Think about how miserable they will be because you had to be greedy. Voting for a politician because he or she makes promises to give you more money is wrong. Going to the doctor or hospital for the most minor complication and forcing your children and their children to pay your bills is wrong.
Don't, give me the excuse that you need the money to pay for rising healthcare costs, because you're the suckers that created that broken system in the first place. By allowing the doctors and hospitals to bill the government makes them opt for the most expensive procedures and drugs possible. Unlike every other business field, there is no price ceiling for the R&D and final costs of new drugs, machinery, etc, they can charge whatever they want because they know the government will pay. Break a leg? Now, the doctor or hospital will rush you to an MRI machine instead of a cheap and simple x-ray. Ever seen "I-Robot?" The general idea of the stories are highly similar.
The legacy your generation is leaving behind is one of fiscal malfeasance, greed, and self-centeredness.
Because there are so many of you, any politician running on a platform for reducing debt though a series of moderate tax increases, government spending cuts, and minor/moderate benefit cuts will never win. Likewise any bill in Congress that proposes anything of the like will be struck down immediately.
You don't need any more money. You NEED to fix the machine that was broken when you built it, stop voting for the candidate that offers the highest tax cuts and benefit increases.
I understand you've put your time in and deserve some benefits but as you taught your children and they've taught me; life isn't cheap and nothing is free. However you've managed to make the opposite true for yourselves and only yourselves. You expect your Social Security but what I expect is to pay into it my whole life and reap no benefits when I retire. Where's the fairness in that?
If more of my generation reads the book where I got this information and takes a few economics courses they may start to think like I am: Get my degree here in America, then move to Canada so I don't have to pay for your greed and mistakes.
Like you also taught your children: You pay for your own mistakes.
So if I were you guys, I'd start trying to fix your mistakes before the young generation that you expect to support you in retirement run the hell away and leave you to fend for yourselves.

Seeing as the Euro 12 happens to be going on around the same time, does any football fan plan on watching a bunch of 3rd string players pussyfoot around in London?
2 AnswersEnglish Football (Soccer)10 years agoPoll: Anyone else think this is a good idea?
Here's an idea I've been mentioning around....
You know (at least in America) you can stop in a police station and pick up a free gun lock right?
Well, how about free recyclable breathalyzers that have 2 or 3 uses worth of battery power?
Just toss it in a receptacle at the bar before you go.
Make the drunk driving penalties harsher, such as you get 1 offense at the normal punishment, but your second is complete revocation of driving privileges for an indefinite period of time, a HEFTY fine (since jail is funded by taxpayers).
Sometimes you just want to go have some drinks with friends, not planning on getting drunk. However, if you've got a decent tolerance, you can surpass the legal limit without really feeling much of an effect from the alcohol.
No more excuses for driving drunk just like there's no excuse for leaving a gun in your home that is unsecured.
The breathalyzers would be funded by the idiots that get caught and the money saved by not having all these court and jail expenses. Just like a speeding ticket, fight it if you want and at your own expense. Only exception is when the drunk driver causes an accident resulting in injury.
3 AnswersPolls & Surveys10 years agoPoll: What dreams do you remember best?
No specifics.
The only dreams I remember in any detail are the ones that force me to spent a minute trying to figure out if it actually happened when I wake up.
How about you? Off the wall, in no way realistic dreams or intensely realistic (things you could actually have done)?

So it happens on and off for a couple days each time.
When I fully extend my right arm palm up I get a sharp continuous pain in my elbow until I retract it. The same happens when I bend it to look like >.
So what's going on?
1 AnswerPain & Pain Management10 years agoWalt Disney's "The Jungle Book" 30th Anniversary Bhutanese stamps?
So there's this frame in my hallway, it's been there since 1997. Like the title says, inside there is a set of limited edition stamps with the word "Bhutan" and various stamps worth different amounts of Chhertum, (3, 4, 10, 30) and one large stamp costing 20 Ngultrum. The plaque on it frame says it is number 405 of 1500. Also worth a mention, there is a coin, presumably gold plated by the looks of it, with a Jungle Book picture. As far as I know nobody has opened the frame since 1997, so I can't tell you what the front of the coin looks like, although it can safely be assumed that is probably commemorative Bhutanese money of an unknown denomination or more likely, just a gold plated coin made for Disney.
My real question is does anyone have any real information on it? I've googled it many times yet I can never find anything even related to it.
