Someone said that if there were no people then the earth would not be anything? Can it be true? What does it mean to be anything?

The volume occupied by matter and energy is expanding with time but is space expanding? At the edge of the universe matter and light are moving outward, but isn't space simply a term that relates elements of matter to each other? A point that is a million light years beyond the furthest reach of the stars and light can still be defined graphically and intellectually by its relation to known material points. Doesn't it make more sense to say that space is infinite rather than expanding?

You are going to take a trip to Vegas, and a friend gives you $10 to play in the slot machine for him while you are there. You agree to do that for him. At the casino you don't win much, but when you use the friend's money you win the big jackpot for thousands.
So, do you go back home and give him the money or just decide that no one would know whose money it was anyway and keep it?
