  • how to make charcoal burn hotter?

So I just bought a brand new barrel style BBQ pit and I tried it yesterday for the first time. I followed instructions on how to light the charcoals and everything but i felt that i needed them to burn hotter. I started the coals and let them burn down for about 20 minutes before adding the meat and closing the pit. Both air vents were fully opened and it seemed to be hot just not as hot as i wanted them to be. Instead of white they were burning orange and at no point was the fire hot enough to not come close with my hands. Cooking the chicken almost took two hours!! So is there anything I can do to make my coals hotter?? Maybe add more coals the next time? What do you recommend?

  • Sparkplug just popped out...why?

I just stopped for gas right now and as I restarted i heard a loud pop. I opened the hood and one of my four spark plugs had popped up and smoke come out from it. What happened?

Is that something i could and fix with a simple tuneup or does that mean there is another more serious problem that needs attention?

I drove the last mile from the gas station home with no other problems then the loud popping that made me sound like a lawnmower...

    Help please.

  • What just happened to my dog?

The weirdest thing just happened to my dog....we have him in the bedroom when we are eating and after we are done we let him back into the room. So I opened the door for him just now and he came in all normal and then all of a sudden he fell on his left front leg and rolled over and was shaking like he was having a seizure or something....After seconds it was over and he was right back to normal and he is not acting weird or anything. My boyfriend was in the room and he didn't see it so he doesn't believe that it happened, but it did. What could that have been? Was his leg asleep and it was a normal reaction to that? Am i imagining things? Should I be concerned? He has never done anything like this before and even now he's like it never happened. He's eating and playing and attentive like always.

He is an 9 month old male neutered english Bulldog with no medical problems that I know of.

  • What are my chances to actually get a loan somewhere?

I got myself in a little bit of a situation here....

Here is what i need: My car broke down and needs a new transmission for about 2000$. Ideally I should fix other problems with it too or it will brake down again soon bringing my total to about 3000$. I am a Rural Carrier for the Postal Service meaning that i deliver mail out of my own vehicle, so without a car I would loose my job.

    Here's what i have:

Bad credit thanks to my ExHusband.

I live by myself with no boyfriend or family that I could borrow from.

I have a little in savings but not enough to cover it all.

I applied with several lenders online but of course I was denied.

If i go to my bank (IBC) and ask for a personal loan what are my chances of getting approved?

I am in good standing with them and have had my account for many years. Will they only look at my credit or actually listen to my situation?

  • Stupid question about burning calories?

Ok so all day long I've been thinking about this in my head and I wonder:

Do you burn more calories in the summer heat doing the same exercise than in colder weather? Or is it about the same? I'm just saying because you sweat more and it is more exhausting?

And if Yes do you burn more calories just by being outside and sweating because of the heat?

  • Does your dog have any cute unusual habbits?

Mine has this funny reflex that when anything get's caught in his stubby little tail he has to immediately sit. It's too funny when the leash get's accidentally caught in it and he stops mid-walk to sit. Also very practical when he doesn't want to listen, one little touch and he sits. It never fails.

  • How to get rid of freezer taste?

Everything i seem to put into my freezer starts to develop a funny taste like old cardboard. Doesn't matter if it has been in there for a day or months. I only have the temperature on 4 out of 10 and still i get everything covered in little crystals, even stuff inside unopened boxes. I have put an Arm&Hammer freezer pack in but still the smell and taste remains. What can I do to prevent this from happening?

  • Why am I such a procrastinator?

Like right now I should be baking my bf's bday cake for tomorrow and look what I'm doing?....Seriously. Why do I always have to convince myself to do something. I'm always thinking ooh I have plenty of time to do it and then 10pm comes around and I'm like I'll just do it tomorrow...Ah I hate this.

  • Is this a normal reaction for a neutered bulldog?

My 9 month old english bulldog got neutered 5 weeks ago. The stitches healed just fine and he doesn't seem to be bothered at all. But over the last week i noticed something that I'm not sure is normal: The flabby skin where his balls used to be is turning dark grayish and feels colder that his body temperature. Almost like there is not blood circulation in that skin anymore. He let's me touch it and it doesn't seem to be painful. Is this supposed to happen or should I make a trip to the vet?

  • Do you feel like a mommy to your dog?

So i took my dog to the pool for the first time today to teach him how to swim....we met his friend a little chihuahua girl and she went with us to the pool. Both dogs played and were curious about the water but neither had gone in the pool before. It was a beautiful day with about 85degree weather but the water was still a little cool.My stupid pooch Wallace didn't know anything about water and when the chihuahua ran to the other side of the pool he did the most logical thing and that was to "run" across the pool. So in he jumps and he immediately sank like a stone to the bottom of the pool. My heart stopped. That's when my mommy instinct kicked in and I just jumped in the pool clothes and everything. He's a big dog like about 50 pounds and it took me a while to get him to shore but he seemed fine. He just shook it off and then went right on to chase after his girlfriend again. I was terrified. But after a while I started to laugh because it just looked too funny the way he just thought he could walk on the water....anyway.

  • Why does my dog have a smell?

My english bulldog is very clean and doesn't usually smell at all. I got him neutered maybe a month ago and every thing healed fine. Now he started developing a fishy smell in his behind area. I didn't change his diet or anything else food wise and he doesn't have diarrhea or anything. I was wondering if this could have something to do with his anal glands? Most days he's not that bad but sometimes it pretty bad. Is this normal and does it mean that they are working and relieving themselves naturally? If it is his anal glands is a fish odor normal?

    Anybody experienced these problems?

  • Chocolate not melting right?

I just melted some chocolate using a hot waterbath and it didn't come out right. I used one bar of Milk chocolate and half a bar of dark chocolate. I boiled water in a pot and covered it with a ceramic bowl holding the chocolate. At first it was melting smooth and creamy and then it started to get clumpy and it started to separate. In an effort to rescue my chocolate i added a small amount of vegetable oil but it didn't do anything. Why did this happen? What can i do to prevent this next time?

  • Opinions about aftercare?

    Ok so here's the deal.

I have seven tattoos as of right now and I have done the same aftercare procedure with everyone of them until now.

I started a half sleeve on my arm and yesterday was my second sitting. We had to go back and redo some of the work because there were little spots of color missing. My artist asked me how I usually take care of them and gave me her advice on how to retain the colors better, let me know what you think and what your experiences are with either one:

I used to go home after I got a tattoo and remove the bandage after about 4 hours, wash it with water no soap and put ointment. I would leave it open and not cover it up again but do my best to keep it moist and not let it dry out too much. After the first day it would start to build up scabs over it and by the second day or so it would usually be covered. I would continue to wash and put ointment until the third day and then just put lotion after the shower. After a week or so it would get really itchy and eventually the scabs would come off and it would be healed. I would do my best not to scratch it, but I guess some of the scabs falling off still caused some of the color to be removed with it.

Now my artist wants me to do this:

She wrapped it in clear plastic foil and told me when I got home to remove it and wash it with water no soap. Then wrap it up in plastic foil again without putting any ointment at all. She wants me to take it off every 4 hours and wash my tattoo, let it air dry and then wrap it again. After 3 days she said that it would be healed without getting scabbed and then I wouldn't need to wrap it again.

I am not sure if I should do it because I thought that it needed air to heal.

If been doing it exactly as she said and when I take the foil off my tat is always covered in goo that I need to wash off.Is that normal and how long will it be gooey?

Do you think thismethod will work? Have you done it like that?

    Any Input would be appreciated!

This is how it looks like today. The Flower still needs to be filled in with more color and highlights.

  • Any words of encouragment for me please?

So I'm going in for my second session on my half sleeve right now and I'm a little bit freaked out. The last time the pain was not too bad but I could tell that we were touching on some sensitive areas. And today we're gonna work on those areas and I'm not sure I am up for it right now.....Could someone just please give me a pep talk so I can suck it up?

  • Purely hypothetical breeding question?

Please don't call me a troll I just want to ask something about breeding dogs. I am not interested in breeding in real life I just have a question that came up today.

So I have an english bulldog that got neutered yesterday. My Co-worker made a comment about how sad it is that he never got to experience the "real" world. He has a female chihuahua.

We started making fun of how it would have been if we mated the two of them. Now my question is if that would have been even possible?

Can two dogs that are that different in size mate? And if they did what would be the outcome?

Would the female dog have to be the bigger dog? If the female would be the smaller dog would she die from having a larger size baby inside of her?

    So many questions.

Sorry but this is really making my brain ache trying to figure this out. Any serious answers are appreciated.

  • Chances to have surgery?

So my 8 months old english bulldog is having his surgery scheduled for tomorrow to be neutered.

BUT my little fella has been busy all weekend humping his beloved pillow and now his balls are all red.

I called my Vet and she said she would have to take a look at it and she'd probably just recommend using an anti itch cream.

Has anybody experienced that same thing??

What do you think my chances are off having the surgery to go ahead as planned?

  • My roses are dying....WHY?

So I got 36 roses delivered by Fleurop on tuesday. When they came they were all pretty much closed and looked really fresh. I followed all the directions I cut the stems used lukewarm water and put the powdered plantfood too. From the second day there where roses that let their heads hang and now they all do. They never opened up. It looks like their not getting any water up their stems but they have plenty. The vase I'm using came with it and seems to be wide enough to have room for all.

Anything I can do to improve their condition? Is that normal for delivered flowers?
