7 AnswersHorses1 decade agoOpinions on different types of...?
At the moment I'm feed my 17hh lightweight hunter 3kgs of blue grass 10% horse and pony mix to keep him ticking over, over the winter. He has always been fed on bluegrass feeds as he was sponsored buy them. (i only have him a few months). I will need to start upping his feed so to get him into full show condition again. The problem is the amount of feed he was on was ridiculous when in show season and he would never eat all his food.
His daily hard feed was:
3 times a day he would get:
1 scoop of condition cubes
1 scoop of 10% course mix
1kg of equijewel(which is a high fat stabilised bran)
20ml of oil and also garlic and joint supplement(prevention is better than cure!)
1 scoop = 1.2kg
So can anyone recommend a GOOD conditioning feed for me (except bluechip, i dont like feeding it)
Any one who knows about producing for shows please let me know!
Thanks a million!

2 AnswersHorses1 decade agoYard problems need opinions?
I have my horse stabled at a new yard so he could have all the turnout he needs. I left instructions that the horse was to be turned out on his own and always in a rug. I went up recently and the horse had been out with no rug on but then they brought him in and put the rug on over muck! I said it to the yard owner and he apologised and said it wouldn't happen again. Then I was up there yesterday and my horse has a bite mark on his hindquarter and also had muck on his body. I cant prove though that he was turned out with another horse. The biggest problem is this horse is meant to be going to HOYS on monday. So what should i say to them this time and also any tips to cover up the mark?? He is a bay!
8 AnswersHorses1 decade agoAre you allowed to.....?
In Ireland are you allowed compete in lightweight hunters and large riding horse classes at the one show? I no in England you can't. But I was at a show he other day and a few of the horses also did the ridden class. Can anybody enlighten me as to weather you can do this or not? And also why is there no governing body for the show horses. We have the ips for the ponies but nothing for horses.
