  • Former employer lied to background investigator?

I was in backgrounds for an agency, one of my former employers lied to my investigator, saying slandeous things. As a result I did not get the position. What should I do? My first thought is civil court but I feel that will detract from my otherwise excellent background

  • question on the S&W MP?

So I have a S&W 4506. Its a bit bulky (I really don't know why they couldn't match the perfect geometry of the 1911) but it will feed literally anything. Even empties! The issue is parts are getting hard to find, and I should upgrade. The Q is: Can the MP feed anything like the 4506 can? Can the FN P45 feed anything?

My XD 40 will jam sometimes with semi-wadcutters, the 1911 is even more finaky about reloads, and I cannot afford an HK or Sig

  • was I crazy to not buy this?

I saved up for a KelTec KSG, just waiting to find one, and I was at the gun store where they had a fully engraved M1903a1 (listed as an A3 but the serial doesn't make sence for the A3 designation) with target iron sights, a c1950's scope, a 1,200,000 serial # for $375. Was I nuts not to buy it or should I stick to the plan? the scroll work was nice and also appeared on the stock I think. The only detractor is that the rifling had wear at the breach

  • front brake shakes under breaking at freeway speed?

I just replaced the pads on my front disks and the caliper (feels like driver's side) shakes under freeway speed braking. I torqued everything down with the torque wrench and lubed the plates on the pad, all according to my Chilton guide. Whats causing this?

Vibrate isn't the right word, the frequency of the vibration is too low, it shakes and I can feel it through the steering wheel and brake pedal. It seems to happen when I brake at speeds above 45mph.

I also switched from the nice ceramic pads to el cheapo's. I bled the lines too

  • Ballistics of 45 super in a compact?

Anyone know what the ballistics of 45 super and +p are from a compact / subcompact platform?

I was thinking that would be one hellofa defensive round

  • what do you think of the Kel Tec KSG?

I saw it, it looks awesome, and only $550 (+ $100 transfer fee) 14+1 rounds of 12 gauge. What do you think? I live in Kalifornistan so I'd need to get it before its declared an AW and listed (no doubt it will be).

PT 2. What about going halvsies with a friend? Is there a form for that? Is that legal? I hadn't heard of it but if I can get out for cheaper, all the better right?

  • Getting a shingles shot at 27?

I'm 27 and my sister (29) just got shingles, apparently it runs in the family. My q is that do I need a Doctors prescription to get a shingles shot or can I just go to the pharmacy and get one? Also how much $$ do they cost because I can't afford health insurance.

  • breaking in a gsg 1911?

just cleaned my brand new gsg 1911 22lr, and I want to take it to the range to go break it in with some winchester 36 grain plated hollow points. the thing is that I am not used to pistols with as rough a finish, the slide feels a bit gritty. I was thinking of either using some graphite, lithium grease or possibly some flitz polish to smooth out the slide action, wondering what you guys thought?

And 2nd, what is the lube they used on it at the factory? That stuff STINKS! My whole living room reeks!

  • red dot on a pistol for duty?

Does anyone know of a red dot / aimpoint that would dovetail into the rear sight notch, that is durable enough and small enough for duty carry and would fit in the top strap holster (safariland)?

I think preferably it would have a backup v notch at the base in case it fails.

So it needs to be able to handle things like disarming drills etc.

  • name of a restaurant near union square?

I went to this restaurant near Union Square in San Francisco about 10 years ago, and I can't remember the name. I do recall really decent prices (though again this was 2002), and it being a steak house. As you walked in the door of the restaurant there was a dry storage meat locker on display right next to where you would speak to the hostess to your left. I was hoping to go back to it, but I haven't seen it since, though I also haven't meticulously searched on foot the streets around Union Square. It may be as far away as 3 blocks, though I don't think any further as we parked in the underground lot to go to the restaurant.

  • whats in your range bag?

I have a 5-11 duty bag, and I usually bring to the range my ammo (300 rounds or so, 40 & 45) a cleaning kit, ears and eyes, a pen and can only fit one weapon... What do you carry/ what should I change about my range kit because it gets ungainly. either I can carry my ammo in the bag and one weapon or both weapons then my hands are full.....

  • Looking for 1911 style, but double action?

I'm interested in a 5 inch 1911 style pistol, but Sa/Da, with a decocking lever for safe condition 2 carry.

1: Does anyone make such a pistol?

2: Are there any that could be considered a "value" as I am not made of money, and I know about a target version, but this would be for carry.

    3. Would it be possible for a gun smith to do a trigger mod on an existing 1911?
