How do I access my BIOS on a Dell laptop N5050 with windows 8.1.Don't answer unless you've done it and know it works.?
I foolishly agreed to the Microsoft offer to "upgrade" for free. All the user controls have been taken away. You can't enter the BIOS, keep the maintenance from running randomly or kill any windows processes in the task manager like Win.was possible with Win 8 and all previous version.
I have tried all the Dell usuals as well as all the others I know of.
I stopped the "fast boot" During boot up none of the f keys work,holding delete ,esc,and combinations of all,failure.I have the legacy BIOS. Upgrade BIOS has failed repeatedly.
>Even Mocrosft has not provided a cure.

I have a question for you geeks.I have a Dell Inspiron 5050 laptop. Dell and even the manual which I downloaded said this model has 2x2gb ddr3 1600 ram running at 1033mghz I purchased an upgrade memory module of of 4GB 2Rx8 PC3 DDR3 1600 MHz. When I popped the KB off I found ONE 4 stick PC3-10700 (667 MHz).The upgrade is PC3-12800 (800 MHz). It is recognized and comp. runs somewhat faster. So with CPU-Z test shows max. speed of memory as 666MGz. I know the comp defaults to the slowest mem. module. So the question is if I get another PC3-12800 (800 MHz) to replace the original will that give me the 800-1033 MGz speed on the ddr? It was cheap 32 $ delivered, is it worth it?
