Dog peeing on/marking couch?
I am really at a loss right now...
we got a couch a month ago and have found wet spots on it 4 times already from our yorkie peeing on it. It seems he just stands on the plush cushions and lets it go either over night or during the day while nobody is home. He never has to hold it more than 7 hours and has never had a problem with peeing in the house since he has been house broken for about 2 years now (thats how long without a single accident.) and he is 3 years old. The past couple of years he has been amazingly well behaved in the house alone so that is the only reason we leave him there unattended. I'm sure now after the 4th time he is probably thinking this is a new potty spot, but I'm at a loss because after waking up this morning its clear he emptied himself out on the couch a short time before we went out for our morning walk.
Any suggestions on what I could do? We take 2 10-15 minute walks with him a day and at least 2 potty breaks in the afternoon...this has always seemed like plenty. Should i start fresh with his training again? The only other thing I could do is leave him in the garage (but its too warm there in june) or crate him for 14 hrs a day (while we sleep or we're at work) but that would be my last resort. My couch is thick and plush, how on earth can I clean this mess from my cushions so he will stop coming back to it?
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoMy tax return is being rejected because of SSN issues, but...?
I'm not totally sure why!
I tried filing 2x with turbotax online and both state and fed are getting rejected. I've checked the irs website and it is basically that someone has claimed me as a dependent or already filed with my ssn. I turned 24 april of 2009 and my mother did not claim me. I would have suspected she's lying at first but I made 25k last yr and I was also too old for her to claim me, correct?
That would mean the reason for the reject is that someone else filed with my ssn...but I check my credit on a regular basis and haven't seen anything odd on it. I plan to mail in my forms--but has anyone else dealt with this that can tell me what to expect or what else the problem could be?
3 AnswersUnited States1 decade agotype of pastry...Like a funnel cake, but lighter, flakier, and crispy?
long story short, a relative of mine used to bring these to holiday dinners from another personal source (someone else used to cook them) but can't get them from them anymore. Nobody seems to know what they were called and we can't find out any other way.
It's made of dough I would say, and similar to a funnel cake and is probably fried, but is much smaller. It is about the size of your palm and they are much lighter and not doughy the way a funnel cake can be.
However, it probably isn't made the same way a funnel cake is made because it looks more like a funnel cake cross-section. Imagine taking a knife to a funnel cake and cutting it horizontally, like you would a biscuit.
It leads me to think it is made in a press, but you can tell they are in oil at some point because there were always slightly oiled paper towels under them. They were also lightly dusted with powdered sugar.
I hope this makes sense, and if I think of anything more specific I can add, I will. I'm hoping someone can recognize what I'm describing!
1 AnswerCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWhen I buy cookie dough to bake cookies, why do they come out so flat?
For example yesterday I bought some brand name white chocolate macadamia cookie dough that was already precut and everything and all you do is place and bake. I followed all the directions, but they look nothing like the cookies on the package. Is this just always how they come out, or is there something I'm missing?
2 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWedding Accent Lighting? How do I light up the walls?
I've seen a lot of great photos of reception areas lit up with colored lights that make the room glow a particular color. I'm in SC and can't find anyone on my own to do it.
I'm considering hiring a wedding coordinator to help with little things like this I can't seem to do on my own but the truth is I don't really feel like I will need one, I just can't figure out how to do something like this.
Any tips? Is there a simple "do it yourself" rental way I can do this that I'm not thinking of? Here's an example of a website that does things like this, but they are across the country from me. (http://www.encorepartydjs.com/)
6 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoClassy ways to avoid a father/daughter dance or my dad walking me down the asile?
I'm getting married in about 7 months so I'm in full swing of wedding planning. Because of a lot of odd family events ( I know, we all have them) I really don't want my father walking me down the asile and the thought of having a dance a song with him makes me cringe. My parents have been divorced for about 10 years now and have been quite estranged from him and most of my side of the family will understand why these "traditional" things probably won't happen, and I'm sure my father will understand too, if he actually shows up. I thought it would be flat out rude not to invite him, of course he hasn't participated in much of my life, nor has he contributed a dime to anything concerning this wedding.
I haven't been to many weddings, but have you ever seen these things skipped? Is there a tasteful spin I can put on these things? Do brides ever walk down the asile alone, or what is a cute replacement? My mom suggested letting my grandfather do it, which is an option. I guess I could suck it up and my dad walk me down the asile, but I would feel just the same if I walked down the asile with some stranger, and I don't want to feel fake on my wedding day, or feel like I'm doing these things just to please those attending my wedding.
3 AnswersFamily1 decade agoStarting to split even when filed with a dremel?
I used to get my dog's nails done while at the groomer, but after watching them do it several times, he's warmed up to it and has let me do his nails myself with a dremel type tool without issue. After doing it twice myself, about once every 2 weeks, I was going to do them tonite, but you can tell the nail is starting to split/crack right at the tip of the nail. Could i be doing something wrong? Should i file away the crack? It isn't bleeding or anything and he doesn't seem to be in any pain or anything. I may as well give up and let the groomer keep doing it.
1 AnswerDogs1 decade agoIn the Seinfeld episode "the handicap spot" what game was george's mom playing?
While george was telling his dad what happened, his mom and a group of ladies were playing a game that looked like scrabble, but it wasn't scrabble. what's the chances someone on here knows what I'm talking about?
2 AnswersComedy1 decade agowhile your puppy was losing his baby teeth, did he go through a finger gnawing stage?
My yorkie is about 5 months old and in the middle of losing puppy teeth. In the last few weeks he has also taken to trying to put my fingers in his mouth to gnaw on. Is this usually linked to this "teething phase"? I don't let him do it, but would it help him through this time to have something harder to chew on so the teeth come out, or something more like my fingers feel? He doesn't really chew on anything else.
6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoCheetos as a rare dog treat?
I've found my dog will do about anything I ask for just one crunchy cheeto. He loves it more than any other dog treat I've tried to give him. He's sorta picky I guess. I can imagine they're pretty high in fat but is there any other reason this wouldn't make a suitable treat on occasion?
8 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHelp with making a yorkie's ears stand?
I've read in some places that this is natural for some dogs, but for some dogs the ears need a little encouragement. I've also heard that some breeders tape the ears to help train them to stand before they even sell them. My yorkie is about 10 weeks old, is this still young enough to train them to stand?
6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoSC sales tax is 7%, but the food tax is 1%..so how can I be charged 7% on food sometimes?
I sometimes stop at a corner store to get gas near my home, and this time I went inside to get a snack. I bought a bag of chips for 99 cents, but they charged me $1.07 "plus tax". This is not the first time I have purchased food, and I know every other place I go these 99 cent chips would have been $1 because it charges 1% tax on food. I know this happens because I sometimes buy single food items from drug stores. How can this gas station in particular charge me 7% on food when the state tax in SC on food is 1%??
13 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoIs 8 weeks on too young to start house training a puppy?
I just got a yorkie a couple of days ago, and I realize he's still adjusting, but he's eating sorta randomly, sorta whenever she feels. (and yes, I know about the whole eating well then when they're puppies) I guess he eats that way cause the breeder said food was always available there. Anyway, when reading advice on housebreaking a puppy, they say you should feed the puppy, then make sure you take them outside soon cause they'll have to poop or whatever--but he doesn't have to poop right after he eats!! Then I'll put him in the crate again like 2 hrs later then he poops...what am i doing wrong here. Is he too young or still adjusting? Should i wait?
