  • £100 to £1000 challenge?

    okay, here's the thing:

I've been set a challenge, I have ~4 months worth of time, I have access to £100, if I am able to use that money and end up with £1000 by the end of the time I get to keep it to spend on something, I not sure what, probably a new computer.

Anyway, I'm at a loss for ideas, I'm quite good at technical things like programming, does anyone have any ideas as to what I invest in with £100, anyone who has tried a similar challenge?

  • Violence in video games causing violence in real life?

Ok, here's the thing, I am writing an essay on the link between violence in video games and violent crime, it's a media studies project and no, I can't change it.

What I'm looking for is a study that claims it has found a definite correlation between game violence and aggression levels/crime rates, does anyone know anything of the sort and if so can I get a link to page or article on it.

I should mention I have been studying this topic for the past few months, I know there isn't really a proven connection between the two, I'm looking for a study that CLAIMS there is, I have plenty that show there isn't so only give me one that shows there isn't if it is accompanied by one that claims there is.

    Thank you

  • I've always want to get into martial arts but don't know how?

alright, not 'always' but it's something I'd really fancy trying, I'm 16, first of all I have no idea which one to pick, I could name maybe 5 or 6 different kinds but there are tons of 'sub-styles' inside those main styles, so how do I decide which one to do, for veterans out there, assume I have no real prior skill, I did a bit of boxing and can punch properly (kind of) but beyond that there's nothing, also after choosing a style how do I begin learning, I'm assuming that all the stuff in samurai movies learning in huge schools with 100 students and some kind of magic sensei would be hard to find in the real world especially Manchester, England, so any ideas on how I could start up?

  • What should I call my movie?

I am doing a project in media studies at college, I am making a trailer for a movie, I have my plot sorted more or less but the name I have doesn't seem as good as it did when I first thought of it.

The name I currently have is Virtual Morality (a play on words for virtual reality).

The movie is about a boy about 10 years old, it is set maybe 10-20 years in the future, gaming technology has advanced quickly and fully immersive virtual reality systems are available as a home gaming system, the problem arises when the boy mentioned earlier gets a go on one of these machines on a game rated 18 for a new rating reason, immersive, as in the game is realistic to the extent is indistinguishable from real life, this has an effect on the boy, he learns skills in the game due to its virtually perfect physics engines and gameplay, his morality is then changed due to this effect and he uses the skills he learned in the game in real life to commit crimes, the game taught him to drive, fight and handle a firearm.

Before I get any answers from avid gamers saying that the theory involved in the movie idea is all lies, I'd like to say that the topic I am studying is the effects of video games on young children, this idea for a movie was the best one I could come up with that fits that topic and that I'm not saying that violent games cause violence, just that I'm studying that possibility in my trailer.

Also I need to think of a good name for the child mentioned and for the virtual reality games console.

  • Hamachi is stopping my computer from loading up!?

Whenever I try to install the ip connecting program hamachi on my computer it fails to start up without a system restore after which, the program is gone, there is nothing about this problem anywhere on the web pages I've searched and I want to know if anyone else has some answers, as far as I can see it's only my computer that acts this way, my friend has the same program from the same source and his computer is fine.

From everything I've tried I've found there has to be a link between hamachi and my start up problems, can anyone help?

I dont really know what this means, as I said before, I've never seen this before, can anyone shed some light on this situation.

    Extra detail:

    The corn is male

    He's 6/7 months old

The vibrating kind of sounds like a rattlesnake

  • My corn snake hasn't eaten for 2 weeks and still won't.?

I have two corn snakes but recently one of them is refusing to eat it's been 2 weeks and there aren't any signs of shedding I've tried heating the mouse and wiggling it to make the snake think it's alive but it won't take, she (the snake) is about 6 months old. She isn't acting strangely and seems healthy, does anyone know what could be wrong with her?
