  • Typically calm 1 year old now constantly screaming?

My son is usually very calm, and very content if I hold him. In the past 2 weeks, he has become very irritable, whiny and screams uncontrollably even when I hold him to calm him down. Any other moms going through this? What is wrong?

  • Do I have a right to use my company day care center?

My job is trying to deny employees the right to use the child care center at work. I feel like I read a law stating something along the lines of if an employee can not afford private child care and their company offers child care, they are required to extend the offer to employees as well. Am I completely off base or is there a law that gives me the right to use the child care center at my job?

  • Does being late on your period always mean you are pregnant?

Could a severe change to your workout routine possibly cause you to be late or miss completely without the end result being pregnancy?

  • Slide and climber by Little Tykes?

I saw an old school slide and climber by Little Tykes at my son's Care center. They can not remember where they got it from and I can not find it to save my life. It looks like 4 HUGE puzzle pieces, yellow, red, blue and green. They connect together to create a square. There is a ledge on the inside and a little slide that connects. Does anyone know where I can find this toy?

  • Good places to host child's party?

We wanted to have it at our house, but it is going to be too crammed with 100+ people. We then thought to do it at a park, but there are only 3 that you can reserve the eating areas at, and we can't risk being at an unreserved park with that many people. The only problem is two out of the three are already rented out, and the third just doesn't seem to be set up well for a party.

    Any other ideas?

  • First birthday gift ideas?

Its my son's first birthday, and my husband and I wanted to get him one of those plastic, large piece jungle gyms- something he can grow into. He plays with the one in Kids Care and likes to crawl through the spaces and attempt to get up the slide. I'm not sure if this is a practical gift though. Will it take too long for him to grow into it? Should I possibly save this for a second birthday gift and go another route?

  • First Birthday ideas- on a budget?

My son's first birthday is coming up in May. It is unavoidable- there will be close to 60 people at the party. I know it is smart to cater, but it is extremely expensive. I want his party to be unique and fun for everyone and draining our money on food is going to make it very difficult to do. Do any of you moms have suggestions for first birthdays? Thank you!

  • Infant Oral Thermometer...?

I know we are supposed to add a certain amount of degrees to each (oral, arm pit, rectal, etc.) and I can not remember how many to add to an oral reading. My son is 7 months old and is acting quite lethargic- his temperature came out to 98.7 on the oral thermometer. I can not get a hold of my regular doctor and I do not trust the on call doctor. He keeps saying that we don't add any degrees to the reading, but my regular dr has said so himself. Can anyone help me?

  • California Vacation Pay Law?

My husband has been working at the same job for 18 months. He has NEVER used a single day of vacation time, and in 18 months has been sick once. He did not get paid for the sick day, as we assumed, and that was that. However, he took a day off last week and informed the pay roll woman to credit it towards his vacation time since he knew he had a ton accrued since he'd never used any.

Today, his boss called him to tell him that he has no time accrued and what he did is going to jeopardize his job.

This is a very small mom and pop place that does not put record of accrued vaca time on the pay checks, and does not provide an organized way for us to see how much he has accrued. They did, however, tell him when he was hired, that after his probationary period (2 months) he would start accruing the vaca and could start putting it to use after 1 year.

Can anyone refer me to legal sites that can either confirm or deny the truth to what she is telling him? I do not feel this is correct, however the sites I am finding are not answering my questions...

  • If one bulb on the xmas strand is out, will they all be out?

i grew up having to string the lights on the floor and plug them into the wall. If the strand was dark, we had to go around, light by light, and find the one bulb that was burnt out. Once you got it fixed, the whole strand would light up. is this still how it works, or have they perfected the system?

  • Rumor has it my company's payroll checks are bouncing...?

I dont want to take the chance of having a bounced check- I support my family and we'd miss rent.

I once heard that if you cash the check and then deposit the cash into your account, you are guaranteed the money.

    Is this true?

From what I understood however, I have to go to the exact bank that my company gets the checks from in order for it to work and get the cash.

Is this true or can I go to my own bank?

How can I make sure I get the money and dont get a bounced check?

  • Sex offenders list- Im living next to a sex offender.?

Our town has had a lot of media this year about how many registered sex offenders reside here. I decided to do a search on Megans List and found that my next door neighbor is registered. The man has always been so nice to me and my family, but we have children. I know that stupid things like an 18 year old girl having sex with her 17 year old boyfriend could get her on the offenders list if his parents press charges. Keeping this in mind, I am still mortified at the thought that i am living next to a sex offender. I know this sounds silly, but, what do i do? I am so in shock i dont know whether to lock my doors at all times and never talk to him again or to give him the benefit of the doubt. (not like id ever let him around my children, regardless if he is or is not a sex offender; i do not mean benefit of the doubt like that.)

  • How to locate contact information for property owners within city limits?

I was once told if you go on a city's specific website, they must post property owners and their contact information. I have been searching all over my town's website and am unable to locate this info. Does anyone know how else to locate property owners? (IE: I have neighbors who rent and are disturbing the neighborhood- trying to contact the owners so they can do something about it.)

  • Can ring worm kill an infant?

My son seems to have a very flaky patch on his arm. We thought it was dry skin but lotion isnt helping. The doctor cant see us until tomorrow and we are very concerned that ring worm can be fatal, if that is in fact what he has. He has also had this red mark on his scalp, (not in ring) but it has been there for about 3 weeks. we noticed it in the bath, but thought he just had a little scratch. It hasn't healed the way a scratch would, though. We are thinking the two are related and maybe is a mild case of ring worm. Does ring worm necessarily have to be in a ring or can it be a blob on the skin?

  • Can I legally break my lease due to a reopened rail road next to my home?

When we moved into our house, the tracks had been dormant for over 15 years. All of a sudden they are in high use and we have a 3 month old son who is woken up when the trains blast by. Can we get out of the lease with our deposit in hand due to this?
