Visa needed for unpaid internship in US?
I am a Canadian citizen who has been offered a 6-month unpaid internship in the US. I have been looking through various US government webpages and I find it unclear as to whether I need a visa or not.
From the US-Canada Embassy webpage:
"In almost all circumstances, Canadian citizens do not require visitor, business, transit or other visas to enter the United States, either from Canada or from other countries. However, some exceptions exist: [list does not include work, study or internships]"
3 AnswersImmigration8 years agoHow to find Finnish birth records (c. 1914)?
The websites/databases that I have found so far seem to focus on pre-1900 records.
Does anybody know any online databases where I can search for people born in Finland between 1910-1915?

I will be working in France for a four month (consecutive) period. Afterwards I will be traveling around Europe for 1 to 2 months before returning to Canada. As a Canadian citizen I can stay up to 90 days in the Schengen "zone" without a visa, but since France is included in this zone and I will be staying there for more than 90 days, do I need to get a second visa in order to be able to travel after my work period is over?
3 AnswersPacking & Preparation1 decade agoEigenvectors?
I've figured out how to find the EigenVALUES of a matrix:
matrix = A
eigenvalues = v (don't know how to make a lambda)
identity matrix = I
det(A-vI)=0
Easy enough, but I can't figure out how the heck to find eigenvectors! I've looked at the definition/explanation page at Wolfram's MathWorld and I'm still totally lost...
Any explinations?
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoDress shoes for standing?
I recently started a new job as a hotel receptionist and I'm basically standing for 8 hours a day. What STYLE of shoe is best for standing in? I need a dress shoe and something with ample support. I already have bad feet (I wear an orthodic insert in my shoes) and I'm finding that in my current shoes it is my heels that are the most sore at the end of the day. I've heard that a slight heel is better for standing, is that true? It would make sense that it would relieve pressure off the heel.
I guess the best person to ask would a shoe salesman who knows their stuff, but what does the anonymous internet population have to say?
3 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoTravel Near - Old Canadian Tourism Ad?
I remember an old ad that ran quite a number of years ago for tourism Canada. I saw it at the movies (not sure if it showed on TV), but it was meant for the Canadian audience, telling us to "Travel near". It had some really great scenes from all over Canada - a fishing boat in the maritimes, some people on the top of a mountain in BC. I think the theme of the ad was Travel ____, filling the blank in with different words.
Anybody remember this/have any more info on where I could find it?
