  • Pain 2 months after wisdom tooth extraction?

On March 28 of this year, at the age of 34, I had all four of my wisdom teeth extracted. The one that was giving me trouble was sheered in half, top to bottom, and I guess it was easy to pull out because that site seemed to feel better more quickly than the other three. But the surgery went pretty well I thought. Wasn't nearly as bad as I had expected.

Then, about a week ago, I started to feel some discomfort at that lower left site. It has come and gone, but yesterday and particularly today it has been quite painful at times. Worse when eating or drinking. There is some swelling back in there, too.

Now I have had some cavities filled on nearby molars more recently. One tooth was pretty bad, but it was on the top and was either the last molar or second to last. There were fillings on bottom molars as well. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with. Should I go to my regular dentist or the oral surgeon? The pain is very clearly coming from the wisdom tooth extraction site, but because I've had work done since, I'm not sure who to go to.

I've already spent several thousand dollars on my teeth, so I don't want to pay my dentist to look at something that the oral surgeon should be looking at or vice versa. Please advise me regarding which doctor I should see on Monday.

Also, what could cause the site to feel fine for a long time and then suddenly start to hurt? I know I can't get a diagnosis...I'm simply wondering what the possibilities are.

    Thank you.

  • Wisdom Teeth Extracted...Bad Taste in Mouth?

Hello. First off I have a mild anxiety disorder, and that causes me to freak out a little bit when something is wrong and I don't know what it is. In this case I don't even know if there's anything wrong or not.

Today is Saturday, and I had all four wisdom teeth extracted this past Monday. Supposedly everything went fine, but I did have to go back on Thursday because I saw a bone or something on the roof of my mouth and it was hurting. The surgeon said the tissue had split open when they were trying to get my upper right wisdom tooth out. Not a big deal, I guess.

But I keep reading about people who are just fine four and five days removed from surgery, and I am not. The pain is not the problem. There's still some swelling but not a whole lot. Still pretty uncomfortable to eat solid foods, mainly because of that place on the roof of my mouth.

I just don't feel well. At first I thought it was too many narcotics, though I never went overboard with them. And I do feel better since I switched to Advil. The main thing that's troubling me is the foul taste in my mouth. And nausea, but that could be because I'm nervous.

Is it normal for me to have a bad taste in my mouth? I've tried rinsing with non-alcohol mouthwash, salt water, and normal tap water. I've been brushing my teeth carefully. Today I started to irrigate with that syringe thing but I don't know if I did it right. I do know the taste got worse each time. I've done that twice. Starting today I'm supposed to do it after meals and at bedtime.

Anyway I've read different things in different places. One site says it's normal and nothing to worry about (having a bad taste). Another site might say it's not normal and it's either an infection or food trapped in the socket, and I'd have to go back to the freaking surgeon AGAIN to fix either one of those.

I just want to get back to normal. I realize that it would normally take 2 weeks or so for things to feel healed and another two weeks after that before they really are healed, but what am I supposed to be feeling not quite a week afterward? It's the weekend and I don't have anyone to call.

Sorry this question has jumped around. Like I said, I am anxious and I feel a little scatter-brained.

Best Answer goes to the answer that makes the most sense, not necessarily the one that will calm me down. I can live with the anxiety if I have to.

    Thank You.

  • Can I add a wordpress blog to a subfolder on a pixelpost blog?

I have a photoblog that uses the Pixelpost software, and I'd like to add a blog that I can write in which would use the Wordpress software. For example, "www.blahblahblah.com" already takes you to the photoblog. I'd like "www.blahblahblah.com/blog" to take you to a normal blog that I have not yet created.

My hosting account says something about me having 10 MySQL databases, and I'm using one for the photoblog. I don't know anything about this stuff, but from what I've read I should be able to do what I want to do as long as I can give wordpress its own database, which it looks like I can.

Am I missing something? I can do this, right? How hard is this going to be? I set up the site myself (though I've forgotten how I did it). I use FTP from time to time to add things in subfolders (lightroom galleries, etc).

  • Why did NASCAR develop the way it did?

My understanding is that NASCAR and stock car racing in general came about because moonshiners would build these cars to outrun the cops. Why is it, then, that NASCAR tracks of today are almost all ovals? It would seem that running your moonshine from the cops would be a form of road racing, and if stock car racing really developed from doing that, NASCAR would have tracks with turns in them.

Would you like to see stock cars run european-style tracks (for lack of a better term)?

  • Difference between Adobe Lightroom 3.3 and 3.4?

Every time I try to search I get a bunch of illegal downloading links for 3.4. I just want to know what the upgrade does before I install it, because the last time I did this I ran into a few problems.

    Thanks

  • wisdom tooth problem...what to do?

First, I can barely think so please forgive me if I ramble. I have a wisdom tooth (top right) that is broken lenghtwise and is giving me lots of trouble right now. Lots. I started antibiotics today and have an appointment to see an oral surgeon on Tuesday. My dentist says it is abscessed.

Sometimes it doesn't hurt very much, and while ago it wasn't hurting very much but it started to. And once it gets going you can't do anything about it. I thought I would eat something...perhaps moving my jaw around would help some.

So I got an oreo. Somehow -- and I do not know how -- part of the oreo went to the bad side of my mouth and I bit down on the thing with that screwed up wisdom tooth. The pain was incredible. I literally fell out of my chair and writhed on the ground for a few minutes. The the worst passed. I stumbled to the bathroom and washed my mouth out with Act mouthwash. I have an antibiotic mouthwash I'm supposed to use in the morning and antibiotic toothpaste I'm supposed to use at night. In between if I eat something I'll use the Act to clear it all out.

The pain has largely subsided now. It's kind of sore where I bit down, but in terms of pain I'm actually better than I was before I started to eat the oreo. Usually "the episodes" come on very quickly. Starts with a little ache in the mouth and suddenly I have severe, debilitating pain behind my left eye and going up to my ear on the same side. And that was the track I was on but biting down on that oreo seemed to stop it for now.

Anyway, I'm concerned about the abscess. I've heard of people dying with them. It should be noted that I have anxiety disorder and health things make me nervous, but I'm concerned that when I bit down some of that infection got out and I'm going to be very sick very soon. I'm already nauseated, but that could be the amoxicillin or even just my nerves. My mind is trying to make me believe it is infection.

This oreo thing happened about thirty or forty minutes or so ago. Pain isn't bad. Nausea seems to be getting a little better. Nerves are shot to hell. Will someone tell me if I have cause for immediate concern? Dentists, doctors, hygenists, and people who are smart with biology and stuff are welcome to comment. Thank you in advance.
