Which do you think is the best?

With the new racing season coming up I will ask who is the greatest in every racing discipline? F1, NASCAR, IRL, WoO, NHRA, etc. Who was/is the best on dirt? Who was/is the best on asphalt? Best on road courses? Best on short tracks? I can go look at the statistics and find out but I would rather hear opinions.

Sam signed to drive the 54 Nationwide car when Kyle Busch ain't driving. I think this is a great move my Sam and wish him the best of luck. Hope it leads to better opportunities.

Chase Elliott to run full season for JR Motorsports, NAPA Returns: Chase Elliott will compete full time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for JR Motorsports starting in 2014 and do so with NAPA AUTO PARTS as his full-season primary sponsor. With Elliott as its driver, the 2014 season will mark NAPA's 19th in NASCAR sponsorship. My biggest surprise is how well the Furniture Row car ran with Kurt Busch. They was in contention in a lot of races and came close to winning a couple. To finish 10th in the points with a single car operation is quite a feat. They should be proud. Also I got to give a call to how well Joey Logano ran this year. By far his best season and look forward to seeing how well he runs next year.

I have a couple of let downs. First is Brad Keselowski was apparently still hung over from last year. With his teammate making the chase he had no excuse. Also the Fords in general was a let down. I'm no Ford fan by any means but I like seeing all makes be competitive. I hope they get their act together next year.

Also very pleased with my driver Dale Jr. finishing 5th in points. He couldn't get a win but his team finished the season strong and they can carry that momentum over next year.

Congrats 48 team on a sixth. No matter how much I dislike him I got to give him props.

How many people knew that Kyle Larson is a Japanese American?

I've been reading about the Drive for Diversity program that NASCAR runs and I saw Kyle Larson's name on their and it threw me for a loop. His mom has Japanese heritage, which I guess makes him eligible for the program. So my question is, since my heritage is Scottish/Irish does that make me eligible for the program?

I usually wouldn't care but the Programs whole point is for minorities to get a shot at NASCAR. Not for some white kid to get by on a technicality. What be your opinion on the Drive for Diversity program and the possibility of white kids with heritage getting in?

Is he an American citizen? If he is not how does the IRS enforce that?

Was this a good move for Truex and Furniture Row? Do you think NAPA will join Truex at Furniture Row? What are predictions for this team in 2014?

Todd Parrott has been suspended indefinitely for violating the sanctioning body's Substance Abuse Policy. It seems like its almost every week that a crew member is getting suspended for violating the Substance Abuse Policy, what are these people thinking doing such things? What would they risk their careers?

I was reading on Jayski that Furniture Row wants Ryan Blaney to drive their car next year. Would that be a good move on Blaney's part?

NAPA Auto Parts leaving Michael Waltrip Racing at end of year UPDATES: NAPA posted the following message on their Facebook page Thursday morning:

"After thorough consideration, NAPA has made the difficult decision to end its sponsorship arrangement with Michael Waltrip Racing effective December 31, 2013. NAPA believes in fair play and does not condone actions such as those that led to the penalties assessed by NASCAR. We remain supportive of the millions of NASCAR fans and will evaluate our future position in motorsports."

Is anyone surprised by this move? Will NAPA sponsor another driver in the Cup Series?

There are two tracks that NASCAR needs to go to again. IRP and Rockingham. The Truck series has went to Rockingham the past couple of years but I want to see the Sprint Cup cars race there again. There was great races at both tracks. What was your favorites that are no longer on the schedule?

"Penske Racing may have cut a deal with Front Row Motorsports in the closing laps at Richmond for track position to help get #22-Joey Logano in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship. In radio communications reviewed Wednesday by The Associated Press for Front Row driver #38-David Gilliland, his spotter informs the team of a request to let Logano pass him in the final laps of Saturday night's race. Logano was trying to claim a spot in the 12-driver Chase field. Both Penske and Front Row are Ford teams and thus considered partners. A voice on the radio, believed to be crew chief Frank Kerr, asks who the request is coming from. The spotter replies: "We've got the big dog and all his cronies." Kerr then says: "Travis knows what I've been asking for," an apparent reference to Penske Racing competition director Travis Geisler. Logano passed Gilliland on a restart and finished 22nd, one spot ahead of Gilliland and good enough for a berth in the Chase field. "Good job, good job, man," the spotter says after the race. "Hopefully we'll get something out of that." Statistics analyzed by AP also show Gilliland's lap times dropped off by almost 1 second from the times he was running prior to the radio communication."

Do you believe that this warrants a fine and lose of points? Is this just as bad as MWR's actions?

Tony Kanaan is the 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner, past champion and a fan favorite on the IZOD IndyCar circuit. He's searching for sponsorship to try and stay with the series he's been with for a decade and loves. But what if another team from another discipline offered him a paying ride where all he had to bring was his helmet, talent and personality? RACER has learned that Joe Gibbs Racing has made the popular Brazilian an offer to run Nationwide in 2014, with a chance to move to Sprint Cup for one of NASCAR's best operations. Kanaan was reportedly on his way to Brazil and couldn't be reached for comment and J.D. Gibbs didn't return a phone call, but a source close to the Gibbs' team revealed that T.K. had spent most of Tuesday at the Gibbs' shop in Charlotte. Kanaan has talked with Chip Ganassi about his fourth seat, Michael Andretti if free agent James Hinchcliffe departs, Bryan Herta's second car and continues to be a candidate to stay at KV Racing, where he's been the past three seasons. But, in a story on RACER.com three weeks ago, Kanaan was understandably miffed that every team he's talked to about a job needs him to bring money

Jeff Burton, driver of the #31 Caterpillar Chevrolet SS for Richard Childress Racing, has announced he will not be driving that car after the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Burton, 46, has driven for RCR since 2005. The native of South Boston, Va., has won four of his 21 NSCS victories with the team. He also earned seven NASCAR Nationwide Series wins with RCR and was an integral part of their 2007 NNS Owner's Championship. "I strongly believe in the #31 team as to what we can achieve this year, and for the team in seasons to follow," Burton said. "However, the financial realities for next year were obvious to both Richard (Childress) and me. So, we talked about it and both made the decision to make this move for the team's future. I would like to thank the dealers, customers and employees of Caterpillar for all we've achieved together. You can't ask for a better and more supportive sponsor than those people, and it's been an honor to wear their black and yellow colors on my uniform." Caterpillar will continue to sponsor the #31 Chevrolet SS. "Jeff has been a true professional in every sense of the word," said Greg Towles, Cat Racing Program Director. "On behalf of Caterpillar dealers, customers and Cat employees, we thank Jeff for his commitment to the #31 team and the Cat Racing program." A new driver (Ryan Newman rumored) for the #31 Caterpillar Chevrolet SS will be named in the future.

"We have been working hard to try and get all the funding in place to have four Sprint Cup teams in 2014," said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. "With the date on the calendar getting closer to 2014, we just couldn't run partially funded teams next year. Knowing what Jeff's plans were in 2015, he and I worked out an agreement for him to step out of the #31 Caterpillar Chevrolet after this season. Jeff has been nothing but a professional driver, an asset to RCR and a great person for our organization since coming on board in 2005. Jeff has also been a great ambassador for Caterpillar and the other partners we've had on the car throughout the years. I can't thank him and Caterpillar enough for how great they've been as we work through this transition. We intend to finish out 2013 in a strong way and I look forward to the possibility of Jeff still being part of RCR in the near future, just not driving the #31 car. I have been watching his son, Harrison, and the success he's having. Hopefully, we can have another Burton in one of our cars someday."

The Truck race was great this past weekend. From Mike Skeen's girlfriend smacking Max Papis to Chase Elliott running over Ty Dillon. If you didn't hear the smack dislocated Mad Max's jaw. Talk about a weak chin. A lot of people are saying Chase dumped Ty. The way I see it is Chase made a move getting under Ty and Ty came down. Chase stood his ground and won the race.
