1 AnswerPhysics9 years agoPhysic - Kinetic Energy and Center of Mass Help Please!!!?
A thin rod of length 0.96 m and mass 130 g is suspended freely from one end. It is pulled to one side and then allowed to swing like a pendulum, passing through its lowest position with angular speed 4.81 rad/s. Neglecting friction and air resistance, find (a) the rod's kinetic energy at its lowest position and (b) how far above that position the center of mass rises.

Figure 10-43 shows particles 1 and 2, each of mass m, attached to the ends of a rigid massless rod of length L1 + L2, with L1 = 1.0 m and L2 = 7.0 m. The rod is held horizontally on the fulcrum and then released. What are the magnitudes of the initial accelerations of (a) particle 1 and (b) particle 2?

1. An Earth satellite moves in a circular orbit 620 km above Earth's surface with a period of 96.90 min. What are (a) the speed and (b) the magnitude of the centripetal acceleration of the satellite?
2. A rotating fan completes 1180 revolutions every minute. Consider the tip of a blade, at a radius of 20.0 cm. (a) Through what distance does the tip move in one revolution? What are (b) the tip's speed and (c) the magnitude of its acceleration? (d) What is the period of the motion?
3. A particle moves horizontally in uniform circular motion, over a horizontal xy plane. At one instant, it moves through the point with coordinates (x, y) with a velocity of v and an acceleration of -a . In these expressions, v and a are the speed and the magnitude of acceleration, respectively, and thus are positive quantities. In terms of the variables given, what are the coordinates (a) x0 and (b) y0 of the center of the circular path?
4. Two horizontal forces act on a 6.7 kg chopping block that can slide over a frictionless kitchen counter, which lies in an xy plane. One force is 1 = (1.5 N) + (2.5 N). Find the acceleration of the chopping block in unit-vector notation when the other force is (a) 2 = (-1.5 N) + (-2.5 N), (b) 2 = (-1.5 N) + (2.5 N), and (c) 2 = (1.5 N) + (-2.5 N).

1. A 4 kg particle moves along an x axis, being propelled by a variable force directed along that axis. Its position is given by x = 3 m + (4 m/s)t + ct2 - (6 m/s3)t3 with x in meters and t in seconds. The factor c is a constant. At t = 6 s the force on the particle has a magnitude of 30 N and is in the negative direction of the axis. What is c?
2. A 350 kg rocket sled can be accelerated at a constant rate from rest to 1500 km/h in 2.5 s. What is the magnitude of the required net force?
3. a block of mass m = 6.48 kg is pulled along a horizontal frictionless floor by a cord that exerts a force of magnitude F = 10.1 N at an angle θ = 20.0°. (a) What is the magnitude of the block's acceleration? (b) The force magnitude F is slowly increased. What is its value just before the block is lifted (completely) off the floor? (c) What is the magnitude of the block's acceleration just before it is lifted (completely) off the floor?
4. three connected blocks are pulled to the right on a horizontal frictionless table by a force of magnitude T3. Calculate (a) the magnitude of the system's acceleration, (b) the tension T1, and (c) the tension T2 in terms of T3 and the masses m1, m2 and m3.
