  • Roku box what exactly is it and how best to combine it with cable or not at all?

I'd like to rid myself of my local cable bill. The "free movies" are from the 80's and 90's and very few are current and if they are they"re not the good ones. I'm realizing that I'm paying a high price for TV series which if i recall correctly used to be free on television. I do like having pay per view as opposed to going to movie store and renting and i do like some of the extra channels that I have, but I basically watch the regular three that we had when growing up and now Discovery, Bravo, Lifetime and a few more. It just seems that I only watch a handful of the 200+ channels that I am paying for. MY QUESTION>>>> Which Roku box should i buy and is it only for movies? Should I expect to purchase a basic package from cable company to get my three channels and maybe one of my favorites will be in the package. Should I get a dish TV subscription or whatever happened to having an antennae on your roof? I do have a land line that I use for fax and my internet with the cable company. I just don't know which is the best route and exactly what a Roku box can do for me in my quest to stop paying for so many channels that I don't use and get good movies. I know this may be a confusing question, sorry, but I'm confused about what to do. Thanks for any help you can offer.
