I have an external hard drive, and want to do a back up of my laptop - basically emails, documents, etc. I've done it before but it seemed to take ages, as I kept having to giver permissions, etc. for certain folders (I am the only administrator on the comp, and have no password folders, or anything). I kind of expected to just be able to let it run and go to bed, for example, but it wasn't to be. Any tips?

I'm running Vista Home, and I haven't got ay huge files or anything (very few images, docs, for example).

Hope you guys can help. I have Vista Home Premium installed on a new-ish laptop. I didn't get office (word, excel, etc) with the new laptop, so installed my old original copy (came with last laptop) whichs XP. Has worked fine for 2 months and now I get the xp update trying to install, and then the microsoft wizard thing telling me I have a pirate copy of Office! I went brefily to the Windows site that redirects, me but as my laptop came with windows already installed (I didn't buy apart) then they tell me to contact the maker of laptop, etc. blah blah. Surely there must be an easier way?

Maybe i'm missing some details, so feel free to ask anything you need to know, if you tk you can help me! Thanks in advance guys!
