  • I need a career... here are the details...?

I currently hold my Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Mathematics and hold my Series 6/63/65 and life insurance licenses. I worked as a teacher for 2 years in a local high school and am currently working for Chase Bank as a banker. I don't mind my job however it is a sales job and to be honest it is not where I want to be in life. I left teaching because I couldn't see myself doing the job for 25 years and the same holds true for where I am. I love teaching and I love the stock market. They are two fascinations of mine that I can't get enough of. I trade options and stocks and have the knowledge about them to teach them to others. My problem is that I don't know where to go with this talent. I don't want to be a stock broker or someone who works off commission. What can I do?! THANKS!!

  • Advanced Analyzer Effectiveness?

Has anyone ever conducted a study using the Advanced Analyzer from TD Ameritrade to determine the effectiveness of the Bull:Bear Ratings? I would like to know more information on whether or not any one has ever paper traded for an extended period of time or done any actual trading based solely on the bull:bear ratings and if so what those results were. Thanks for the help!

  • How can I promote my service for free?

    Hi,

Currently I offer a free daily newsletter service for free. In the newsletter I give stock recommendations based on technical analysis as well as report on news happening in the market and notable upgrades and downgrades from major investment firms. I have a Facebook account for the service as well as a Twitter account and currently have about 10 subscribers to the free service, but I would like to expand more, however since this is a free service I am not looking to spend any money on advertising and marketing. Any suggestions? THANKS!

  • Visual basic 6.0 help with an executable file?

I have written a simple code that I use on a daily basis however to run it I need to use my visual basic 6.0 program on my computer and it is the only computer that I can use the program on. I was hoping someone might be able to take the code from me and create an executable file as the student edition that I am working with does not allow me to access such features. If there is anyone that can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated!

Again all of the code is correct and works with no issues so i am not asking you to look over my code or edit it, just publishing it.

Thanks for all of the help in advance!

  • How can I help my student?

I am tutoring a young girl in 7th grade and she is a very bright girl. In math she understands the concepts that are taught, however her execution of the math is done poorly. For example she'll add or subtract wrong, she'll forget a negative, or make some other small mistake. I've never had a student who is so smart yet struggles to do the basic math. Does anyone have any ideas that I might be able to use to build up her basic math skills? Thanks for the help!!

  • NY Surety Bond for a new Investment Adviser?

I will be opening up an Investment Advisery firm in January and had a question about whether or not I will need to post a Surety bond. I will NOT have custody over customer accounts NOR will I have discretionary authority. I will not be accepting pre payments either. Because I have avoided these three items, is it necessary for me to post a surety bond? I read that it was not necessary if I had proper net capitalization. I will have $10,000 which I will be putting towards the business, will this be enough to avoid such a bond? Thanks for all the help!

  • Help with Basic Complex Analysis?

I am trying to study for my basic complex analysis test coming up and I have a question inn my notes but I cannot conclude to a proper answer. If anyone can help me out by explaining this question it would be greatly appreciated!

    Question:

Suppose f(z) is analytic on an open set U and we wish to extend it to a larger open set. In other words, we have some open set V containing U and we ask for an analytic function F(z) on V such that F(z) = f(z) on U. Then there is at most one such extension.

Proof: For if F(z) and G(z) are two such extensions, then the function H(z) = F(z) - G(z) would be analytic on the open set U and equal to zero there. Therefore, it must be zero on all V.

The question is, what theorem allows us to conclude that H(z) has to be zero on all V? What is the statement of this theorem?

Hint: since U is an open set, we can find a convergent sequence Zn in U such that H(Zn) = 0. In particular the zeros of H are not isolated.

I believe that the theorem is Taylor's Theorem, but if someone could affirm this for me and explain why it would be greatly appreciated. The only reason why I presume the taylor theorem is because the proof given is similar to that which is in the required textbook.

Thank you again for all your assistance!

  • Complex Analysis Question?

My teacher is insane. I'm trying to study for a final exam and the question below is one that was given to us by the teacher. I am not even sure where to begin with this question. Can anyone offer any help? Thanks a million!

    Question:

A simply connected set A is a connected set with the property that every continuous loop drawn in A can be continuously shrunk to a point while remaining in A. So a disc is simply connected but a donut is not.

The great Riemann mapping Theorem states in particular, that for any simply-connected, connected open sets A and B in the complex plane (other than the whole plane) there is an analytic function f(z) with domain A and range B. Also the derivative of f never equals zero.

The question is the following. Let D be the open disc of radius 1 (the set of complex numbers z with |z| <1) and let C be an open subset of the complex plane which looks like a christmas tree-shaped cookie (the cookie part, not the outline). Does there exist an analytic function with domain D and range C? What about an analytic function with domain C and range D?

Thanks for all the help that you can offer!!!

  • Basic Complex Analysis Help!?

I'm trying to study for a final exam and as I'm going through my notes I came across a problem which I do not have an explanation for. If anyone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated!

    Question:

    Does the series sum(z^k), k=0..infinity

converge or diverge for complex numbers z with |z| < 1/5?

I'm pretty sure the series will converge however I do not know how to explain my answer.

    Thanks!

  • Basic Complex Anaylsis?

I'm trying to study for a final exam and as I'm going through my notes I came across a problem which I do not have an explanation for. If anyone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated!

    Question:

What is the value of the integral of e^z sin(z) dz, evaluated on the closed curve gamma in the complex plane?

I'm pretty sure the answer is zero because that which is being integrated is differentiable, but can anyone give me a better explanation?

    THANKS!

  • Is it possible to create a shortcut on my desktop for a VB6 program which I've written?

I've written a program to calculate risk reward portfolios for financial derivatives. The program is fully functional however to run the program I have to open up VB, load the code, and then run the program through VB. Not that this is a huge problem, more of just a hassle, but is there anyway to put a shortcut on my desktop which will directly run the program? Thanks!

  • Taxes on Option writing?

I recently developed a strategy for profiting off of call options writing, which I have proven through backtesting and paper trading, to be highly successful. My concern are the tax implications on my returns. How will I be taxed? I know that profiting from short term premiums off of options is taxed at the short term rate the same way the profit off of a security held less than a year is taxed.

My question is will I pay an additional income tax on top of this capital gains tax?

If you could, here is an example, could you use this as a reference for your answer...

Assume I manage to gross $1,000/wk for a $52,000 annual salary. What will be my net income?

    Thanks!!!

  • Website Traffic Site?

A few years ago I was sent a link from a friend to a website which measured the amount of traffic that passes through any particular website. Does anyone know of a site which can give such information. I am not talking about a counter to put on a web page! This is an actual site where once you go there, you can enter in any website, and the statistics for the traffic as well as a graph demonstrating the increase or decrease of traffic over time is shown. Thanks!!!

  • How do I process a claim to Sele-dent?

So I am a teacher and our health care is amazing but our dental plan is horrible. I have Sele-dent as my provider however the oral surgeon that I'll be going to to remove my wisdom teeth does accept such insurance. Will my insurance still cover the procedure? I'm a little confused how it all works. The dentist that I go to does not accept the plan either. What they explained was that I had to pay up front and they would send the information to Sele-dent who would then send me a check in the mail in the amount that they would cover. Does this work the same way with the oral surgeon??? I hate this stuff!

  • How is the unit circle useful?

I am writing a lesson on the unit circle and I understand its various properties concerning the trigonometric functions (ie. the sin of an angle is equal to the y coordinate of the point at which the terminal side of the angle intersects with the circle). However what other unique features does the unit circle exhibit? How else can it be used in a lesson? Where is the usefullness of the unit circle applied in practical applications?

Thank You for all your help in advance!
