  • My PH reading in my tank is at 6.4.?

When I first got and cycled the tank it was at 7.0. As fish have been added it stabilized at 6.7 but today it is reading 6.4. I had to change my filters last night so could this be the cause? I changed half of my carbon filter and half of my white filter. If so, will it regulate itself as the filter runs or should I be doing something else to help it along. Many thanks for any genuine help.

  • What happened to my zebra plec?

I had a zebra plec in my 64 litre tank along with a betta, a pimeloda pictus and 6 tetra. My pimeloda had been harassing my tetra and had caused one of them damage and so I was advised to dose the tank with Methylene Blue. On reading the enclosed leaflet it states that it is suitable for all aquatic life and can even be used on roe or fry. I dosed my tank as instructed and all went well as the tetra began recovering well. After 4 days it said that I should dose again if all was not completely clear. She still had a raw bit so I ran a water test (all of which was fine) and then dosed as instructed again. Throughout this all fish were checked and present and correct. I also checked that they were all feeding and moving as normal which they were. However, two days into the second dose and my zebra plec was stone dead. She was moving around as normal this morning but tonight she just died. Does anyone know what happened? Did I do something wrong or is it just one of those things? All other inhabitants seem to be fine and on removal of the poor plec, there were no obvious signs of stress or disease. I'm a little confused and would appreciate any advice. Many thanks.

  • I don't understand the Top contributor badge system.?

If you gain this badge then you have contributed good helpful answers in a particular category. Why then is it removed if you move to a different category? You have still contributed and are just diversifying. Would it not encourage better answers to allow people to collect this title under different categories for giving good answers? You shouldn't be able to award it and then take it away just because someone hasn't got as much time as they used to have to answer questions. A good contribution is helpful and should not be penalized. Also top contributor status should only be awarded to those with helpful answers and not those who just put in web sites and rubbish to fill the gap. How can this be fixed Yahoo? Opinions please. An answer from someone at Yahoo answers would be good here.

  • Does anyone know where I can find good recipes for a diabetic coeliac?

I have adapted most of my own recipes but if there's a site with more then that would be great. Variety being the spice of life and all that. So diabetic friendly as well as wheat&gluten free (Not one or the other, recipes must be both friendly.) only please. Thanx :-)

  • What veg can I safely feed my goats?

I have had an answer saying that potatoes are safe but I have been specifically told elsewhere that they are poisonous to goats. I'd like to treat them to carrots or tomatoes or something extra as a treat in the evenings but want to be sure that what I give them is safe.

  • What vegetables are suitable for my goats as a treat?

I have recently bought two billy goats who are happily grazing in a large area of heath land. I would like to offer them vegetables as treats but wanted to check if there are any I should not be giving them. For example we are aware that potatoes can be very bad for them.

  • Are japanese fighter fish bottom feeders?

I have recently bought a japanese fighter who now resides in a tank with several tetra. He seems to be content and loves his live plants and shipwreck but so far I haven't seen him eat any of the flake food the others eat. He seems to clean his shipwreck like a house proud fish. All water tests have proved ideal conditions but he doesn't feed at all from the surface.
