My PH reading in my tank is at 6.4.?
When I first got and cycled the tank it was at 7.0. As fish have been added it stabilized at 6.7 but today it is reading 6.4. I had to change my filters last night so could this be the cause? I changed half of my carbon filter and half of my white filter. If so, will it regulate itself as the filter runs or should I be doing something else to help it along. Many thanks for any genuine help.
I have one siamese betta, one pictus, and six tetra.
A water change of 25% was done yesterday and all the ornaments were cleaned in the aquarium water that came out. I used a gravel vac also so this should not be the issue. I am not new to this and this is the first time I have had such a low reading.
Ammonia and nitrate are all testing fine as usual. I use a liquid test kit (API) and I do have a bogwood in my tank although no other live plants.

ph is inmyopinion not a concern unless you wish to breed them, they adjust to differernt ph like we do climates (but i guess the exposed eggs do not fair so well) and its really sudden fluctuations that weaken the fish. bettas and tetras i know prefer low ph anyway, actually for tetras the lower the better. From what reading i have done to control fluctuations in ph you increase the buffer by adding certain rocks. sorry i dont know which ones. i can also offer causes, if you have any bogwood the tannins will gradually lower ph but not by that much i dont think. co2 lowers ph if you have a c02 injector.

Firstly what fish are you keeping as .depending on what fish your PH could be ok
i keep my wild caught Angel fish in 6.5 and My captive bred Angels in 7.5
Edit..changing filter Media wont change your PH but it can cause your ammonia and nitrite to spike as the beneficial bacteria is stored in the filter media and sponges.
Have you checked your Tap water for PH.
Also are you using strips or a liquid test kit?
Edit ..having 0 nitrate is a real concern i still believe your tank is not cycled properly as for the PH let is stabilise and see what happens .

you just aren't doing enough water changes, and yes if the pH falls more you may have problems.
get and use a siphon gravel cleaner to do your water changes.
