Is it OK to ask for donations towards an item that cannot be put on a baby registry?
Baby shower and registry etiquette have relaxed quite a bit over the years and I am taking full advantage as I prepare for my shower. However, I cannot seem to find any good advice on asking for 'donations' towards my baby's cord blood registry. What are your thoughts?

It would be understandable if they put it in postings that weren't really questions, but I have seen it on postings that ARE questions.
