  • Updating my BIOS for a Dell Latitude C600?

I have a prehistoric Dell C600 and i have an external hard drive that uses USB, and i may decide to run an os from it. The only problem is my BIOS version A03 or AO3 doesn't allow me to set a usb device to my knowledge, so i think i have to update my BIOS. All i know is it is a standard Dell C600 BIOS chip, and i could open it up and get the type if necessary. Any help/ suggestions for me?

  • My disk format stops at 100% and it does not finish?

I have an external hard drive in a case that i would like to Format. It is a 3.5 inch IDE Western drive. I have made a new partition of about 150 gb that i would like to format to ntfs so i can use it. The problem is, when i open disk management and try to format it, the format proceeds fine and goes rather quickly, only a few minutes, and then it pauses at 100% everytime and after a few minutes i get an error saying the format was not successful. Here is my process:

I right click the unallocated space and select new partition.

I click next and check Primary Partion.

I click next and use the default amount, 150 gb.

I click next and assign it the following the default drive letter, D, and click next.

I choose Format this partition using the following settings and select NTFS, Default for allocation size, and just keep the Volume Label at New Volume, then i click next and do not enable a quick format or compression.

The disk formats and i get the same result...

    Additional Information:

-Drive is not new, from an old computer.

-Drive is on the PM2 jumper setting, (the others do not recognize my drive.)

-The drive is connected to a Low Powered USB hub, but performed fine when i removed old files from it and tried to use it.

Should i try formatting on another computer using the same drive letter? The only concern i have then is perhaps it will not be recognized, because that has happened before with other external drives.

Please help, any advice is helpful, i'm only 15 so i do not know much about this. Sorry for the sloppy grammar its late and i'm frustrated
