  • what hours should a shift manager work?

I've recently been promoted to a general manager position within my company, and with the promotion I took over another store that already had a staff in place. For the most part, the staff is awesome and very supportive of the management change, but i am having difficulty with the shift manager--she was promoted to the position only a few weeks before i took over the store.

The largest problem we're having is when she should work. She complains when i schedule her for nights/weekends and now holidays. I try to be sympathetic with her, I know no one wants to work these shifts but I've always been told that why it's called a SHIfT manager--you have to pay your dues to get them off.

(That is largely why I accepted the promotion--to have nights, weekends, and holidays off to spend with my family after paying my "dues" as a shift and/or assistant manager all the way through college.)

The only shifts she really seems to want are Monday thru Friday from open to about 5; anything else I get belly aching and threats that she won't show up despite any attempts I make to get her some of what she wants.

Am I wrong to expect her to take these shifts? Or are **** shifts what others have experienced as they worked up the ladder?

  • Is this abnormal bleeding?

Hey all...My wife actually has this question. here She is!

(Wife typing) Okay, here goes: I was on the pill for 4 years, I took my last pill Feb 20th, had a period Feb27th that lasted maybe 3-4 days (as they usually do). Didn't have another one until june 7th, was my usual period-not very heavy. Then July 26th, I started-not very heavy, kinda spotty, then 4 days later, I started very heavy. It's been a week and a day and I am still heavy, still have cramps and some back pain. Now, my periods were pretty heavy before i started taking the pill 4 1/2 years ago. Should I be concerned? Is it normal for a period to last this long? Why?

  • Treadmill Maintaince?

I noticed lately my treadmill track is getting very warm after I run. I bought it second hand about a year ago and have never had this problem. I wondering if it needs some type of lubercante, and if so what kind and were can i get it? I run about an hour a day on it, going roughly 10 k (6.5 miles) at a time.
