  • Is the film "The Relic" any good?

Fair warning that I'm a fan of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's books, which I've charged through most of recently. (I love the Pendergast series, it's just so entertaining.)

Well, I've never actually seen this movie, and I'm wondering if it does the book any justice, or if I should just choose the simpler path of "ignorance is bliss." The main reason I choose to ask is because, I've noticed, many movies made out of novels just plain suck. (Example: Immortality, Inc. made into FreeJack.)

If anyone has seen the movie, or is a fan of the books in question and already knows the answer, please, I really am curious.

  • Why do people believe in horoscopes?

Truly, I don't understand it. I USED to believe in that compatibility bullshit back in middle school, because it did explain why all of my relationships failed. However, looking back, I realize that it wasn't due to some mystic cause, I know I made mistakes and they did too. **** happens, ya know?

So, can anyone explain why people like to whittle away their time worrying about these retarded little horoscopes that are about as accurate as the paper inside a fortune cookie? It's utterly idiotic to believe that your future is already predicted and already going to happen, as we, as human beings, are gifted--or cursed depending on your way of seeing it--with the ability to decide what we will do and what we will become.

Sorry, I really just needed to rant about this. It's driving me mad how so many people just use horoscopes as a way to remove the blame and responsibility from themselves, and say "Well, it was going to happen anyway, no matter what I did."

    It's so immature and childish.

Now, that being said, I understand worrying about the future and wondering just what's going to happen. Not everyone is psychic, and it gets pretty damned scary not knowing what's going to happen tomorrow, next Thursday, next month, even next year!

    Anyway...

You see the point I'm getting at. Life is a pretty scary place, and I do understand why people want to know what's going to happen--knowing takes away a great deal of the fear in this world. However, there's a difference between empowering something that's just made up, and just trying.

I apologize for ranting on this subject, but it's just been irritating me to no end how several of my friends--good friends at that--are constantly saying "No, I can't hang out, because my horoscope says such and such" or "I'm not going out today or tomorrow, because my horoscope says this will happen" or "I can't talk, because my horoscope" ... you get the point.

    Anyway.

What's your opinion on horoscopes? Love em? Hate em? Think they're dumb? I wanna see peoples' opinions, even if it's "UR DUM 4 HATIN TEH HOROSCOPE! IT R MY GOD!"

A-thank ya for reading. Vote for the best answer, buuut if you can't decide on one, I'll pick. (I'm really just interested in what your opinions on horoscopes are, my friends.)

  • Where can I find accompaniment tracks for Vaccai (Baritone)?

Whether it's in a CD form, or in a digital download version, I'd really like to be able to practice my singing more often than I do. (Seriously.. I get to practice like three to four times a week at most, as I have to force either my mother or friends or even my girlfriend to play for me on the piano.. ><) It's kinda.. annoying.

I'd prefer a piano accompaniment, but I'll take whatever I can get. ANY help is appreciated. If you have no idea what Vaccai is, well, you probably shouldn't have clicked this link.

Now, to be even MORE specific, the Vaccai I'm using is the Schirmer's Library of Musical Classics, Vol. 1910, VACCAI, Practical Method of Italian Singing for Mezzo-Soprano (Alto) or Baritone.

Again, any and all help is appreciated.

  • Why do people just copy and paste wikipedia or Amazon entries, instead of giving an actual answer?

    Seriously. Ask for a game or details on electronics, you get some copied and pasted message from the site you just checked out FIVE MINUTES AGO. Ugh.. almost every answer I get is just someone sending me something I've already said in my detailed message to NOT include. How hard is it to figure out that when I'm asking for a Playstation game, I'm not asking for a PC GAME? -_-;

But, I digress. What are you guys' theories as to why people are so lazy on this site?

  • What are some of the best PS3 games out there?

I'm probably going to buy a PS3 within the next few weeks--or tomorrow. Either way, I need to know a few good games for it. I'm already planning on getting Valkyria Chronicles, Heavy Rain (IF I can afford it, if not, I'll just rent it), and I'm also considering getting Little Big Planet, if only for laughs.

Now, the catch to this question--and your pending points--is that the games I'm asking for can NOT be multi-platform. Chances are that I've played them on my 360, if they are, and I really don't feel like re-playing and/or buying the games for another console. (And yeah, I know God of War 3 is awesome. I'm DEFINITELY going to rent it.)

So, then, any PS3 games you guys can suggest? I'm a huge fan of the Disgaea franchise, and love most Japanese games (even the incredibly tedious ones), but I will play ANYTHING. Yes, ANYTHING from platformers to adventure games to shooters to RPGs to puzzle games.

Just games that are PS3-specific. And that you can personally recommend.

    A-thank you.

  • Is an e-reader worth buying?

I'm of course talking about something akin to a Kindle. The reason I ask is because: I love to read. However, often times I misplace books I'm reading, and while in my opinion nothing can beat the smell of the pages, the feel of the book, the weight of it.. I'm not going to be able to find all the books I want to read this way.

So, I need to ask, is it worth buying an e-reader? I must warn, I am VERY prone to headaches whenever trying to read anything electronically--for example, have you ever been to the site mangafox.com? I used to try to read the rips they have on their site, but it gave me such massive headaches--even with my glasses on, mind you--that I had to stop.. or take a dose of tylenol before reading on.

Will a Kindle do this after a while?

    If not, though.. uh..

What models would anyone recommend? I'm a noob to this stuff. (Though, I do still have my iPod Classic, which has 30GB of music on it. That's the most recent handheld device I bought, and that was six or seven years ago.)

Anyway, thank you for your help.

  • What was the name of this musical?

I can't remember the majority of the plot, but if I recall, it was mostly about an Indian man (not Indian as in the NA kind, as in a guy from India) coming to the United States after hearing how glamorous it is, yet when he gets here, realizes just what kind of place it really is.

I never saw the whole movie, but man.. it was an entertaining film, and I'd really like to watch it again. If anyone knows, easy 10 points.

  • What song played in the first episode (Pilot) of Dead Like Me (season 1)?

Now, I know numerous songs played in the first episode, but the song in question is played twice--it's a swing-style song, and I bloody LOVE IT! If I'm not mistaken, the first time it plays is at George's funeral. I did hear it one or two other times after, but I have no idea what the song actually is. If anyone knows, please, for the love of God, let me know! I NEED it!

  • Looking for some good Celt-punk or Celt-rock music; know of any?

Okay, I've been a fan of Celtic punk and Celtic rock for a LONG time. Essentially, my criteria--what I'm looking for, in general is along the lines of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ7bkGw7dM8

(Note that I already have several Dropkick Murphys albums, a Flogging Molly album, a few Real McKenzies albums, Hunting McLeod, and Na'Bodach.)

Basically, anything not listed up above is fine. Also, I'm ALWAYS looking for good indie--that's how I found the Dreadnoughts! (band in the yt vid)

Thanks for your time, and thank you for any and all assistance you're able to give.

  • What was the title of a film--horror / paranormal film?

Okay, I know that's not much information, but there was a movie that came out a few years back. I sort of paid it little attention at the time, but an acquaintance of mine recently suggested I check it out. I can't remember the title, but I do remember the poster:

The poster was a photograph of a forest, with about a dozen or so small child-shaped shadows in front of it.

I can't think of the name for the life of me, I just remember seeing that poster when it came out. First one to give me the name of the movie gets the win. (Bonus if you might be able to give me a lil' information about the movie, but I can find that on my own.)

    Thanks~!

  • JUSTIN.TV QUESTION! How does one view their chat without keeping a window of their page open?

Okay, I've got a justin.tv account set up, and I can stream stuff just fine. I just need a way to check my chatbox on the site without having to constantly be clogging the frame with my chatbox popping up. Anyone know of any smaller, third-party applications, or possibly a simple way to get it done? Any help is appreciated, thanks. :P

  • Any programs like Dyyno Broadcaster?

I was using this for a few weeks, but their site has mysteriously stopped working. So, does anyone know of any decent programs similar to Dyyno? I'd prefer that they be free, or a one-time purchase as opposed to subscription-based. Any and all help is appreciated!

  • Any great bands like Amon Amarth?

Hey, I love metal. Too bad I only found out about these guys from my friend, after telling him I loved Metalocalypse, and the music from the show.

Still, that was a couple years back, and now I've several of Amon Amarth's CDs--though, I am liking their newer stuff more than their older stuff. Twilight Of The Thunder God is an awesome album.

So, if anyone knows of some great artists--and, specifically, which album--could ya tell me? I'm looking for more great metal.. be it Viking or whatever. I don't care.

(Oh, an', best tracks on Twilight of the Thunder God, imo, are The Hero, Live For The Kill, and Guardians of Asgaard--if that helps any. Probably not.)

Ah, well, thank you for taking the time to read my question. ~x_x~

  • Does anyone know of any good dating sims?

Now, I'm not talking about Visual Novels--you know, like some of the adult ones out there... as I've probably played almost all of the translated ones. I'm talking more like the ones you would download for your PC and play; don't get me wrong, ones like Ganguro Girl are great, but I really want something with more depth.

If anyone knows of some with real depth that have:

*Multiple endings--possibly multiple for each girl, too.

*Adult content is NOT NECESSARY; I'm not gonna complain if there's any, but I'm also not gonna complain if there isn't any.

*A bit of thinking required, and not just simple retarded questions, either.

*Basically, if it makes you actually care about the characters, that helps a lot.

*The storyline can be a completely normal dating-type one, it can be fantasy, or whatever. (Again, NO VISUAL NOVELS. I've got like 40 of them installed.)

*PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, in English, or at least a fan-translation to English! I can't even read katakana. x_x I know, I fail.

So, if anyone can think of a game like this--preferably PC-based, but if it's console based, or over the 'net, I shant complain. Also, I won't complain if the game has a role-playing aspect, either. (RPG-fanatic am I.)

Thank you for taking the time to read my question ~x_x~

  • How do you say "I love you" in Japanese?

I don't mean "Daisuki" or "Anata wo aishite imasu" .. I mean, there's another term, but I can't recall how to spell it in romaji. The word sounds something like "skidayou" but .. does anyone know how to spell it properly?

(I have to know how to do it, so that I can make a girl blush so completely... hehehe. It's fun. :3)

  • Are there any products along the lines of a 'male hair-scrunchie' ?

See, I've grown my hair out long enough now that... if I don't tie it back, it'll be in my way. I've tried using rubber bands--these work, but they HURT LIKE HELL when you remove them. I've also tried using hair-scrunchies before, and they seem to work quite well... however... a guy with a frilly thing in his hair doesn't exactly do the image any favors, ya know?

I just need something that won't rip my hair out when I remove it, and is preferably somewhat springy, I guess is the right word.

If I have to, I can go back to using cloth ties, but... those feel really odd. Anyone know of a decent product that I can use? (If you suggest something with glitter or frills, then... =,..,= )

(Also, note that I AM A GUY. >_<)

  • What's wrong with me, and what should I do?

The reason I'm asking this is... I got a massive crush on this girl about a week and a half ago. I told her my feelings, and she rejected me; telling me how she'd been hurt in the past. She tried to let me down easy, and... now I don't know. I still feel love for her, but... I don't know.

I said that, if I could, I'd like to learn as much about her as possible, and I'd tell her everything about me--well, if she wanted to know.

...I still want to be friends with her, but I don't want to risk hurting her feelings, again. I know that by my falling for her, and telling her my feelings, she likely won't trust me anymore. But.. I still want to be friends with her.

Is there any way that she and I can be friends? Is there any way that we can just... be together, even if only as friends? Because, she has an interesting story, and I want to know more. I seriously do.

(...Ya know, I usually make fun of people for posting these kinds of questions on Y!Answers. Oh, the irony~)
