my beagle is 10months help?
I asked a question a few months back, about my beagle barking at everybody..she still does this, not a nasty bark, an excited waggy tail bark, but everyone thinks she is viscious, whatever i doright now will not work with her. Does anyone have any suggestions on to try and calm her down? Also she has not had all her adult teeth through yet and has startee going for us bad..she stopped this at around 5-6months but started again. I do not want to give her rawhide as its bad for her and makes her sick..is there anything else that actually works? Tried rope toys etc etc. I have a pet behaviour spray which works, but i'd like a working teething toy for her but need advice on which ones best. She does listen when we correct her and say no, but she is stingy and will start again an hour later..just little advice needed!
3 AnswersDogs7 years agohow to control beagle barking?
I bought a clicker training yesterday, is it good to help control excessive barking? She barks at everyone on our walks as if she wants to be best friends with everyone ha! I know beagles bark and it is their instinct. But I would love to control it on walks, she is 8 months now, so the sooner I can get it controlled the better. If not with a clicker how else? I don't want to stop her barking just control
1 AnswerDogs7 years agotreats for my beagle?
Anyone know any treats for a beagle, not biscuits or anything like that. Not bones nor rawhide either. Is there something safe, that will also occupy her? She ate a rawhide and a bone yesterday, although telling people she cannot tolerate rawhide it makes her sick. But they gave her a bone yesterday and she is super comspitated. We have been to the vets and she is going to be OK, very lucky! Just wondering if there's anything not harmful for her?
10 AnswersDogs7 years agoHow big should a beagle be at 7months!?
This may seem silly. And i dont know if its just me not seeing it. But is my beagle too small for 7months? I have added a photo! I can't see her growing very much, but it may be just me. She will be 8months in 2 weeks now. And if anyone wants to judge, yes she has a head collar because she likes to run and not walk! No nasty comments as i am aware there are some nasty people on here and i do not need it :) thankss!
1 AnswerDogs7 years agohow long is a spaying procedure on a dog?
Silly question perhaps. But how long does it take for a puppy to be spayed roughly? I hate the fact I'm putting my beagle through it, but she has to have it done, its just a worrying matter. She's going in this ftiday , just want to know how long she will be asleep and how long the op is? And no I am nota an irresponsible owner! I want too be able to walk her without keeping her locked in,I also do not want too breed her, before anyone horrible decides to judge!

19 AnswersDogs7 years agomy beagle has worms..?
My beagle has worms, i'm guess she has, i only noticed last night, she had a little tinsy blood and mucus in her poo, and it looked white string, along with it, what type of worms is this? She is ok in herself, she did not want to eat her food a couple of weeks ago, but i thought it was because she wanted to be comforted, but im guessing not. She eats a lot of the wood when i am not at home, as everyone knows beagle puppies like to chew ha! so i thought it may have been that, but i am sure it is worms. We are taking her to the vet this afternoon, as that's when their open, thankfully it's just a walk in vet so we will get seen asap. What will the vets do to her? and how will they go. Also should i totally clean our home tip top? she is 6months!
9 AnswersDogs7 years agoMy 5month old beagle ate rawhide?
Last night, my partners mum was looking after our 5 month beagle. We clearly said before leaving do not give her any treats, we got back and she owned up to giving a treat, rawhide. For a start she is not old enough for it. And i would never give her rawhide. You just cant trust anyone with your dog, i feel so stressed! Howevef i have just woken up and she has been sick everywhere, the only thing it can be is the rawhide :( please help, thank u

1 AnswerPain & Pain Management7 years agoI need help on my beagle pup?
Just rang the vets regarding my little beagle pup to be spayed, she is 5 months old, i have read so many things, on dogs trust it says that it does not matter whether they have had their first cycle or not, i want the best for my baby beagle, and i do not wish for the chances of cancer to increase. The vets told me, to wait as she does not live with another male, as she needs to mature? but then they said at the end, if you want to do it now then ring when she's almost 6 months, is the mature thing true? people have mixed opinions on everything here, and i just don't know. please help, and no nasty answers. I would much rather get my baby spayed than breed her or keep her in for the time she does go through a cycle. she is our family pet and i wish no more from her.
8 AnswersDogs7 years agoi'm taking my beagle to school tonight?
i'm taking my beagle to a puppy class tonight, for the first time. I am so worried she will be really scared, and the 'barking' dog, not so much the issue. Is it a good idea taking her? they teach every basic command going, and how to behave with other dogs. What should i expect?
3 AnswersDogs7 years agodoes anyone have AMAZING training tips?
My beagle will not listen to me at all, she is well behaved dog around us and my family and around other people, she does bark a lot, and on the rare occasion her hair will stick, i have taken her to a one to one trainer, but what they said did not help, they sort of looked down to us cause we are a young couple! Anyway end of that, she only knows sit, i try teaching her stay/wait/lie down, but she just stares at the treat in my hand then tries to jump, i feel i am at a crucial stage with her now, as she is 5months old, the reason she is so late at training is because the owners we got her from got her vaccinated really late, she had her first walk at 20weeks, which is why i think she barks a lot at everyone/everything outside. So in my world we are at a crucial stage, i feel if i can train her these basic obedience, she will become more confident in herself, but i just don't know how, i spend hours in our long long hallway and our garden training her but ye she is a greedy pup, i know they love food. I have tried hot dogs as recommended by the trainers she saw..but not even they work. She is house trained at knows sit thats all. Is there any AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING techniques i can teach her asap? i put my all into training her, but she is stubborn and greedy. And yes i did research a beagle, or i would not have got one. Just struggling cause she's a bit behind with everything.
Dogs7 years agosome people say not to let beagles off the lead, confused?
i have spoken to a few people, many different opinions. 5 month old female beagle, my partners parents keep saying to let her off the lead and run free in a field, or by the lake or whatever, but i have seen many people say wait until you can trust them 100%, i have also read that if you don't do it as a puppy then they will never be able to be let off, i have also heard that if you don't let them off this young then you will never trust them. What's everyones opinions? I don't really want to risk it, but i just don't know the correct answer either. Do you let them off now and train them or not
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics7 years agoi think my beagle has seperation anixety :(?
I'm scared my beagle has separation anxiety :( She is 5 months old, she has gotten worse over the past month/days even where she will hide under my bed, this morning she sat on the bathroom mat/hallway, she never ever sits here :( I haven't done anything wrong for this to just suddenly come, i've also tried everything, we don't pick her up when she cries, or welcome her too much when we come home, she also has a cage, but :( when i leave she whines/cries so much, i know she stops as soons she hears my car going though,as my father has a workshop next door to our home so he can hear her. She is very well behaved, but it's just leaving her, and i have to go to work as obviously like most people i need to make a living. I have one day off a week, where i take her for a mega long walk somewhere amazing like a beach or lake or whatever, we also walk her in these places on weekends. I'm just worried about her right now, i don't want it to lead to aggression or anything. Does anyone have any other tips rather than the obvious ones? also what high quality treats are ok for puppies? we took her to a training one to one session, where she was given hot dogs, but they really make her smell!! Is ham ok for training her with? i find puppy treats are not very effective, as she is not that interested in them. Also i am soo worried about her barking at other dogs, although i think she is excited to seee the world,On the rare occasion her tail will tuck, her hair will raise and i read that it's fear. She met a dog that was agressive towards her saturday and she was crying/whining the lot, i pulled her away, but now im scared if that triggers her more to be afraid :( Please no nasty answers, i have literally tried everything
2 AnswersDogs7 years agoIs it normal to feel scared about spaying your dog?
I have a 5month old beagle, and we are going to query about getting her spayed before 6months, i asked this the other day, and i have had people call me irresponsible and how i am not a good owner etc..people also say that it does not help hyperness..i mentioned this one about my little pups hyper, and had people saying i am spaying her for the wrong reasons, when i am NOT. However on the dogs trust website it states 'neutering is nicer' which i agree with, i do not want to breed her, i do not want to TRAIN her to go through the heat, people called me irresponsible for wanting to spay her, and that i should train her right, but i do not wish to see my little pup go through it, or try and escape, am i being wrong by doing that? I bought my little beagle for a pet, to love, care and i enjoy walking/hiking etc so my little pup is for me and my partner to love and have company in our new home. Anyway that over, we are going to Paris at then end of feb, and she turns 6 months on the 16th feb, she is going to stay with my parents, they have a male boxer, I didn't even think that she may go into the heat whilst where away, so we are asking the vets about her being spayed, but i am so scared? And before anyone says we are not 'irresponsible' for wanting to go for a 3 night break away, she will be in good hands. when she goes into have it etc, will she be ok? She has had 3 jabs of anesthesia before from little stomach bugs, as well as antibiotics, and she takes them fine, she's never whined/cried whilst being in the vets, i just hate the fact of leaving her there and putting her through it, but it's got to be done because i want to be able to walk her everyday without keeping her indoors. I need reassuring, please no nasty comments, or call me things, there's just no need. If you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all. Also i am not bothered about her hyperness, i love her the way she is, she makes us laugh with how hyper she does get, so don't judge me on that either. She is very well looked after.
