A solid piece of calcium carbonate did not react well in vinegar while powdered calcium carbonate reacted visibly.

My teacher would like us to explain this using models and graphs but I am not sure how to, or even why they react the way they do. Can somebody please help me?

When your adding numbers together that have exponents do you add them like you do when you mulitiply numbers with exponents?
