  • A situation of Two Brothers living with Elderly parents?

My parents are in their 80's. My Brother has lived at home for 15 years which he is 56 years old an alcoholic. The sad part is now hes battling cancer which is stage 4, My other Brother had it going until a year ago when he left the state without telling anyone. In turn we had to clear out his things from where he was living ,walked out on his job, when he came back last month after living in a trailer home in Arizona he had no money, no place to go, no job, no drivers license, no medical, now he is imposing on my parents at 61 years old.no incentive I'm not joking about this. He lives in a Dream World thinking playing a guitar writing poetry will make him famous while the other is drinking hard liquor getting loud violent with my parents,My Mother is so under the gun at 82 my Dad at 85. I have another Brother at 57 nearby 10 miles away he's married has a home, wife, son high paying job. The idyllic Son as one in the family put it. I realize that his priorities are what is at home That leaves me I'm standing aside at the moment age 50 ready to intervene should anything occur.I live two blocks away care giving for a disabled woman.I'm like in the middle between the two extremes. My question being what would be the most productive way for each to handle their situation making productivity of the situation???? I could present thoughts yet my parents have two grown sons , both self centered to say the least the other is an elitist that he wouldn't want to stoop to help if needed.

  • California Unemployment Benefits?

I know someone whom was laid off from the company that she had been there for 25 Years.

When they let her go back on April 30th.They paid her vacation ,offered lump sum along with 23 weeks severance pay.in which she accepted actually it was a waiver. She's been out of the country seeing family she has yet to file.I know that they look at the past year on quarter annual ratings of the highest amount in the past year (actually it's the past 15 months precisely as they dont look at the previous quarter in which the date your filing),Question does the lump sum, vacation pay & waiver pay (so-called severance pay) would that count towards the weekly amount that she gets from unemployment benefits ? This is in California.

  • Veterinarian Bill, being given wrong information?

I just had my 1 1/2 year old Pomeranian taken to local vet.I was told that she is full staged 9 weeks pregnant, that one dog is bigger then the others so a "C Section" will be required which is unusual.

They told me to go to an emergency clinic as it was later in the day. After the vet directed me to go to a specific office I followed her advice.Arriving at the office afterwards the staff told me that I was to be directed to another branch in another city to have the operation done.I called them they had no such information. The nurse on duty told me that she would look over my dog.She came out to tell me that her temperature was about right , her heartbeat was normal , her vital signs were good.

She wasn't even having contractions that the nurse told me to go to a local vet in the morning .

It would've cost me $5,500 instead I was looking at $1,200.After the operation we took the pups home.To me that was misleading information about the emergency. Then after constantly watching thru the night, my roomate heard a crash the mother dog had attacked all the pups within a couple minutes then hid under the bed.Two puppies were dead , one had been bitten that punctured a lung, the others had internal bleeding which they will have to be euthanized. Then the vet told us that if the one survives the "Animal Control" people will have to frequently monitor the pup to see how's she's doing. The vet was really stone faced about it, drove me to the point that I walked out of the office to blow off steam. Well the vet later calls to tell me that I could keep the one pup yet to just keep her away from the mother.Well my thing is why didn't the vets advise of this as the mother pup never knew that they were her pups as natural birth was not possible. We're novices to this yet we could've fed the pups "puppy formula" as we're both taking shifts.Had they advised us,those pups would probably be alive today. We didn't have a lot of time to do our home work as this was spare of the moment. Then we are charged $915.00 for the day for the three pups in which two are not going to live.I feel that they didn't tell us all the advice they should've,we're mislead about the condiition of the dog.Directed us to a place in which they told us to go someplace else 20 miles away.Any ideas or advice will be most appreciated in a very gracious way.CWR
