  • How to respond to “I’m flattered?”?

I kind of met this guy at my uni while we were standing around watching a preacher who was telling us we were all going to hell. I recognized this guy as being from an a cappella group who I had seen perform and so I walked up to him and asked him if he was from it. He said he was, I said he was good, he thanked me, and then I walked back to where I had been before and continued watching the preacher.

Yesterday, 4 days after that kind of conversation, I followed him on Instagram having learned his name from a friend of mine who also does a cappella but is in a different group. I messaged him a bit about his group. Anyway, I’ve hit a bit of a snag and am not sure how to respond. My most recent message was insisting his group deserved second place at a contest I saw them perform at and ended with:

“But, then again I’m a bit bias since I’m an (university name) student and they’re our rivals plus your group has a lot of eye candy. 😂”

    His response opened with:

“Lmao well, on behalf of the others, I’m flattered 😂”

I’m not sure what to write as a response to that particular portion. I kind of want to ask him out at some point (I’ll admit he caught my eye the first time I saw his group). He told the preacher he’s gay, but even still he’s like way out of my league (and also I’ve never been on a date so that’s probably another strike against me). I know I want to throw a “😉” in the response to that part, but I’m not sure what words to use.

  • Was it sexual assault I saw or am I overreacting?

I’m a university student and we have this group of preachers who, every school year, come for a week and tell us all we are going to hell. I go to these things because I enjoy watching the spectacle, though I never say anything. The only way I get involved at all is by wearing my rainbow flag cape.

This year, this group of 5 gay guys. The preacher at the time (this is a group that switch off every hour or so) was a woman slightly shorter than I (I think I’m like 5’4”). She’s also a bit stockier than I. One of these gay guys started arguing with her and while normally people who argue with these folks bring up good enough points, this guy said stuff that could be refuted with two brain cells.

She started talking about how she had never kissed a man despite being 28. Someone asked if she would let a preacher kiss her on the cheek and she said no. The gay guy who had been arguing with her then ran up and kissed her on the cheek. All the other students laughed but I was horrified because, to me, that seemed like sexual assault.

Am I overreacting because she didn’t mention anything about it after and all the students, including the self-proclaimed feminist laughed? I’ve half a mind to call the dean’s office tomorrow and ask them to send people down like they did last year to control the students.

  • Roman Cult associated with Aeneas?

I'm trying to write a research paper on Aeneas and his importance to Roman Religion but my teach keeps telling me I'm writing the paper too much about the mythology and not about the religious aspects. Does anyone know of any things I can bring up? I've got the Julians drawing their line back to Aeneas and connecting themselves to Venus to further legitimize their rule. I've got the curse of Dido and the Punic Wars. I've got the Ludi Romani and the Lusus Troiae. What else can I bring up? I'd also like to expand out beyond the Aeneid as far as the myth is concerned so if anyone is aware of where I can learn more about the original Aeneas myth before it got indistinguishable with the trojan homecoming myth, I'd appreciate it!

  • Questions about Marie Antionette?

Marie Antionette is one of my favorite people in European history and when it came time for us to learn about the French Revolution in my university class, I was excited. My professor, however, made some rather interesting remarks. He said Marie Antionette hated France (wishing until the very end that she was still in Austria) and that she refused to speak French. Now, I would like to know if there is any truth to these rather defamitory things he shared with the class. He may very well be wrong, I recognized incorrect information he gave us in his lecture concerning the Affair of the Diamond Necklace. Anyway, the questions I'd like answered are Did Marie Antionette hate France? And did she refuse to learn French?

  • Tips for studying anatomy and physiology?

I began attending a school (during the second quarter of the school year) in which they will not change class courses if you have already taken the class everyone else in the grade has taken (there are only 13 students [including myself] in my grade [11th]). As a resukt, I was put in three classes I have already taken or did not need, so the school decided to have me take online classes during these periods. They only gave me two online courses (AP Pysch and World History) so I brought my own things to learn for the third class period I have free. I have three books I can study, Gray's Anatomy, The Medical Book: 250 Milestones in the History of Medicine, and Anatomy & Physiology Work Book For Dummies. I was wondering how I should go about organizing the way I learn from these books. I would like to learn a bit from each about a specific topic all at once and take notes using all three. Does anyone have any tips for how I should go about doing this? If one has to learn anatomy and physiology not at once, which one should I try learning first? Is there any other book I should go out and purchase?

  • Could the Arkenstone in the Hobbit be a Silmaril?

I was reading the Silmarillion and when the book described the three Silmarils, it reminded me of the Arkenstone. Both gems have a glow to them and seem to be coveted by all that see them. Did Tolkien ever say/ write anything confirming or denying the Arkenstone being a Silmaril?

  • how could a brain transplant be possible?

I'm writing a science fiction story for a contest that will include brain transplants as a way for which the rich achieve immortality. I'm trying to find a way to make it as real as I can so I'm looking for ways to make a brain transplant as possible as I can for the book. I honestly don't know much about this so I'm trying to find how to fix the problems that brain transplants would face.

I know the brain is an terminologically privileged organ, so it would not face rejection. I don't need to find a way for that.

I know the nerve damage would be a big problem as nerves do not heal properly and damaged nerves cannot transmit signals. I did a little research and found that in 2003, a Korean team were able to make a woman walk again after 19 years of not being able to stand by injecting her own chord blood into her; I don't know if it's the same concept with connecting a brain onto a different body. I'm looking into stem cell research to try and figure out how to overcome this barrier for the story.

I'm also trying to figure out how to attach nerves if they are of different sizes. I have absolutely no idea about what to do when it comes to that.

If there are any more major problems I'm missing, could you please tell me about them and how one could theoretically overcome the problem? The contest asks for a science fiction story that takes place at some future date that talks about new technology. It's a science fiction so things can be made up to overcome problems, I'm just trying to make the story as real as possible.

School has been in for a month so the teacher gave me the option to enter this contest instead of doing a science fair project. I aspire to be an orthopedic surgeon later in life, but school has been in for two months at this school already and I've only been here for four days. Any help that you can offer is appreciated! Thanks in advance! (:

  • Why do people hate George W. Bush and Barak H. Obama?

I'm doing a school project that my teacher gave us three days to do. The teacher wants us to present a period of history , events, people, ect. I decided to do what I call "The Era of Elitism and Secularism" (2001- present). I want to really condemn everything George W. Bush did and what Barak H. Obama has done. I want to go off on the wars, money in politics, gun rights, secularism, ect. Could people tell me specifically why people don't like these two presidents? If you have video clips on youtube to speeches and such, I would appreciate if you post a link. I'm making a video for my project and I need all the footage I can get.

  • What should I call this decade/ era for my history project?

have a history project due on Tuesday. I'm taking AP US History and I would like to talk about the Bush and Obama administrations. I mainly want to condemn the administrations. What can I call this era/ decade? I don't want to say the modern age or things like that. something like "the 9/11 era" or something. I'm not only talking about the War on Terror. I'm going to go off about Bush and Obama's fiscal policies, the loss of rights of americans, the way cooperations control the government, the tension between the Republican and Democratic party, ect.
