  • Alternative to paypal, with privacy and temporary card ##'s?

    Does anyone know of a good alternative to paypal?

    I'm happy with paypal for the most part, easy to use and I really like their temporary "one use only" card numbers because, if they're stolen, they can only be used once anyway. (and you can be sure recurring schemes don't fly) I also make extensive use of PayPal's IPN, in fact, I'm a reseller of paypal-centric software.

    Now for what I don't like:

    PayPal is demanding my social security number to "keep me safe", I don't trust ANYONE with that information anymore and the fact that they lied, (the reason for the SSN is most certainly NOT to "keep people safe") well.. I really don't trust people that aren't honest with me.

    I especially don't trust people who out-right lie.

    Any alternatives to paypal that work more or less the same way? I don't need recurring billing, I do need temporary card numbers and I need something "like" IPN so I can accept payments from other people. I really don't want to provide my SSN. (and if they lie about why then need it, all the more reason not to give it to them)
