  • Question about 1st Birthday Invitations?

I'm going to be handing out invitations to my son's 1st birthday party in the next couple of weeks and I have somewhat of a dilemma.

Should I invite someone who lives 9 hours away from us even though I'm almost positive she won't be able to come? I just don't want her to feel left out since I'm inviting her sister and parents, but on the other hand, I don't want to invite her and make her feel like she has to send a gift. I should add too, that she's due to have her second child on April 8th and like I said, I'm fairly certain she's not going to make the drive with a 3 week old baby.

My husband says I'm thinking too hard about this and I probably am, lol. I just don't want to hurt anybody's feelings.

    So what do you think?

A lonely man buys a centipede and decides to take it for a walk. He taps on the container and says, "You want to go for a walk?" No answer...so he taps the glass again and says, "Do you wanna go for a walk?" Still no answer, so he bangs on the glass and shouts, "Hey! I asked if you want to go for a walk!" A little voic...e comes from inside the container that says, "I heard you the first time. I'm putting on my shoes."

  • Minister and a Little Boy?

"A minister asked a little boy how to get to the Post Office. After the little boy

told him, the minister said, "Why don't you come to church tonight? I'm

giving instructions on how to get to heaven."

After thinking a minute, the boy replied, I don't think so. You don't even know how to get to the

    Post Office.”

  • I had a natural birth...didn't I?

I was getting my hair done a few weeks ago and my hairdresser said something that has been bugging me ever since.

Let me start by saying that I didn't have any meds or anything when I gave birth to my son, but the midwife did give me fluids and oxygen because my baby's HR wasn't doing quite what they wanted it to.

Anyway, I was telling my hairdresser that I gave birth naturally, and she asked out of the blue if they gave me oxygen. I, of course, said yes, and she responds with, 'oh, you didn't have him naturally then." She said in some class that she took with one of her kids, the instructer told all the moms that were expecting to have natural childbirth that it wouldn't be considered natural if they had to have oxygen.

I told her I call BS on this. I pushed out a 10 lb baby with no drugs, it's not like getting oxygen took away ANY of the pain. The oxygen wasn't to help me, it was for the baby.

So...what do you think? Did I give birth naturally or no?

  • Help me and DH settle an 'argument' lol?

So DH and I have been 'arguing' about this for awhile and I thought maybe you ladies could help us settle it once and for all.

What exactly are you counting from when you say 'I was in labor for x amount of hours?' I say I was in labor for 18 hours and I'm counting from when I started timing my contractions. DH seems to think I should count from when I was in hard labor so he thinks I was in labor way shorter than I was. I could actually say I was in labor longer than that too, cause I was feeling contractions at least 12 hours before I started timing them, I just didn't realize that's what they were.

Oh, and I should add that by the time I started timing them, my contractions were consistently 5 minutes apart.

Sorry if this is all very confusing, lol. So...which one of us is right?

  • Question about Car Seat?

This might be a dumb question, but...which side of the car does the car seat go on? My husband and I can't seem to agree, lol. I think it should be the driver's side and he says it goes on the passenger side. I've never heard of that. My sister has three kids and every time, the car seat went behind the driver's seat. It was the same thing with my sister-in-law with her two kids. So I'm just curious as to who's right, me or my husband? (Or maybe there is no right answer and in that case, how do I get him to put the car seat behind the driver's seat and not where he wants to put it? lol)

  • Question about Glucose Screening Test....?

I got my results back today from the 1-hr Glucose Test that I took last week and I failed. I'm going in to take the 3-hr test in a couple days and I was wondering for all you women out there who failed the first test, what were your numbers like and did you pass the second one? I've heard that it's pretty common to fail the first one and pass the second. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

  • Question about Baby Shower Invitations...?

My sister is throwing me a baby shower on March 6th and my question is do I invite the friends and family who live out of town even though I'm fairly certain they won't be able to make it to my shower? My husband says yes, but I don't want to send them an invitation knowing they most likely won't come because I don't want to appear greedy. I could care less about the gifts, I just want my friends and family at my shower and I think if I send out invitations and they can't make it, that means they have to send a gift. Maybe I'm wrong though. Please help!

  • Has anyone else heard of this?

Growing up, I remember my mom always talking about "toughening up" your nipples if you were going to breastfeed and I was just wondering if anyone has heard of or done this?

  • Baby Shower..I'm Just Wondering About Something?

I asked a question the other day about baby shower invitations, and that prompted this one, lol.

I'm throwing a baby shower for my boss and one of the people that answered my previous question on the subject basically said that it was wrong for me to be doing that. I had never heard that before and I just wanted to get some opinions. Everything I've ever read and everyone I've ever talked to, says it's perfectly fine for me to throw her a shower. What do you think?
