34 male here that is new to road cycling... been about a decade since i've done any cycling but i want to get into it with a good quality bike, without spending top dollar, yet still with quality parts that will last a while and not leave me wanting to upgrade in the next year or 3.

So my two choice are

the LBS available, fitted and with free lifetime tune ups Specialized Allez Elite http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?sid=0...

but with a mix of Tiagra and 105 componenets. (105 rear Drl, Tiagra rest)

cost 1050 pre tax ( roughly $1,150 after tax) no pedals or add-ons

or

the Bikes Direct Motobecane Sprint

almost completely Ultegra, comes with Pedals at $995 total cost

I'd rather support the local business but with better components and less cost.. i'm tempted to go the internet route...

any advice is appreciated.

suggestions for a better choice of bike at about the $1,000 price range or lower?

I live in Southern Arizona and as you may know the common landscaping material is sand/dirt/rock.

However my yard has been neglected for far too long.. weeds have taken root.

there are no plants nearby that i need to save... I want to destroy all living weed in my yard... Round-up only makes them stronger..i dont want to spend the money to hire a professional...

Any suggestions?

... when the roman army wanted to destroy agriculture i heard they would "salt the earth" .. does this mean literally speading salt water would kill the plants? i could buy bags of road salt and a garden hose to do that.....

When did Cramer stop tauting his "4 horsemen" of tech?

one minute i hear him saying buy all 4 all you can get... then i hear him say he has "3 horsemen" now that google and apple and Baidu got smoked i dont hear him say anything at all....

anyone know when he said to get out of them... where were they trading?

and what about FCX.. Freeport McMoran.. he says its the best long term investment for the next century and next i hear he says not to buy it....???....when (what price) did he say to get out at?

btw i'm not a fan... just a casual watcher...

Hi,

overnight one of our cars was broken into. Vehicle registration,proof of insurance and marrige certificate were stolen... but not much else.

I dont think either had ss# or other important stuff..... but i am confused to what a thief could use these for...

is it anything to worry about... or should i notify the state/insurance company?

I "sold" my rental and signed my paperwork monday. The Buyer signed tuesday and received the keys.

I was supposed to get the check yesterday after the loan funded but since my wife is pregnant we were at the doctors office for a routine check and we didnt get out until after business hours .... i figured no big deal i would get it today (wednesday)

Today they tell me the lender never funded the loan because there is paperwork from the inspection missing.

Now i am LIVID.

the buyer has my keys and is in my house. ...who screwed up in this situation? the realtor for not ensuring everything was set? the title transfer agency for handing over the keys? the inspector for not forwarding the report?

transfer agency says they expect the loan to fund any moment.. but i cant get a straight answer fromt he realtor that the lendor/ buyer has everything in place.

I want them out... but eviction doesnt seem like the right course in this situation.

whats my next move??

Do you feel nervous about a "used" animal? It seems so many people here ask should i buy this pure breed or that pure breed.... when there are SO MANY GREAT dogs looking for a good home who's breed cannot be determined.... and so many other great dogs of pure descent that would love to be in your home. ..and would make great companions.... I guess i would like advice about what sways people away from adoption?
