  • Potty Training A Boy and A Girl?

I have a two and half year old little boy and a one and half year old little girl.. I am having all kinds of trouble potty training them.. I work during the day and they stay with their father who will not assist them with the potty.. He just says they aren't ready or he lies and says that they did use the potty.. I know the first thing I have to do is get him to help but that is easier said than done..

What ways did you do to get your child potty trained? What worked and didn't work for you?

  • Baby Shower Conflict Question...?

Long story short.. My sister-in-law is being induced really early because of complications and we have no choice but to do the shower after the baby is born.. Even though I am being yelled at because I was told I was giving her the shower even though I live almost two hours away and have a newborn and a one year old and an at home business..

Anyways.. My husband and I told them that we could not change the date because I have other plans that have been maade and can not be changed, I am a chef and I have private events that I can't change that have been booked almost a year..

In the free time that I had, I ordered some really cute decorations that perfectly matched her bedding.. She tells me, "These are ugly, you have to pick something else or you will ruin my shower." I specially ordered these and can not get all my money back so would it be mean of me to just pretty much tell her oh well this is what you get.. Because her other sisters agreed to them before I bought them.. But I was the one to blame..

Anyways.. Should I try to find something else or just keep what I have?

Also, since I was told that I was giving the shower, should I ask for some money help from my other sister-in-laws?

And would it be mean/rude of me to not give a large gift at the shower since we gave her a really nice crib, a swing, a bouncer, and probably $1,000 worth of clothes?

What causes protein? I know it is the liver but what kinds of things make it go up?

  • Completely tired of being in pain?

I will be 37 weeks tomorrow. I have been having contractions since Tuesday. I have went to Labor and Delivery four times; Tuesday, Thursday, and twice yesterday. My contractions are 3 minutes apart and very intense. I am just not dilating as fast as they want me to. One of the midwives said that I had uterine contractions, I looked it up and it is worse than they said. I have all the symptoms of preterm labor and have had them for weeks now and they will not do anything for me. I really do not know what to do anymore... I have tried everything but the oil thing to induce me and nothing has worked. I have not slept since Monday and that was for just a few hours. Last night the midwife gave me some medicine to help me sleep said that it would help with the contractions but they are stronger than ever and sleep did not happen.

I asked to see the doctor but was told that the only way that I would see the doctor was if my blood pressure, pulse, or the baby's heart rate was not normal. Even though my blood pressure was high and so was my pulse and they still discharged me.

I was told by a nurse in Labor and Delivery that if I could wait until Monday and call the advice nurse they would have me see a doctor. But I just have a feeling that I will be discharged and told to deal with the pain like I have for the past week. I was told that I was dilated to an almost 4 but every one that has checked me has had a different number.

Should I wait it out and call in the morning?

Or should I call another hospital and see if they would keep me?

Is there anything that anyone knows of that I can say to get them to induce me?

This is not my first pregnancy and I can usually tolerate pain very well.

    Thank you!

  • 35 weeks and 5 days... Cramping badly!?

I went to the doctor yesterday... She checked everything except to see if I was dilated. She told me that she is expecting the baby within the next couple of weeks.

I have had high blood pressure during this pregnancy, (as well as my previous pregnancy) and I am feeling dizzy and completely drained, don't want to eat or drink anything (even though I am forcing myself to because I know it is the right thing for the baby), and I am cramping all over my stomach and into my lower back.

I called the Labor and Delivery Unit at the hospital and I am waiting for a response from them. Should I just go on in now instead of waiting or wait?

(You leave a message and they call you back, you don't actually talk to someone.)

    Thank you

  • How do you feel about Grandparents spanking their grandchildren?

There is a whole big deal going on in my family at this time where my father-in-law spanked my niece, who is almost four. She was doing something that about ten other people told her not to do and my father-in-law got onto her a few times and she continued. My nieces mom told her once and then ignored what she was doing and continued with the conversation that she was having. After about seven or eight times of my father-in-law telling her to stop, she continued. He then took her inside and spanked her, not too hard or anything but enough to get to point across.

The mom got mad and took my niece home.

Two days later, my husbands mother (she is divorced from my father-in-law, we don't get along with her) calls my father-in-law calling him a child abuser and such, even though she was not there and doesn't know the complete story. She herself has spanked this niece, and seen nothing wrong with that.

    So my question is:

Do you see any harm in the grandparent spanking when the parent chooses to ignore the situation?

  • First Birthday Game Ideas?

My son's first birthday party is in two weeks. We are having a Mickey Mouse pool party. There will be children ranging in age all under nine years old. I want to have a few games that my son can do as well as some other one year olds. We will have a pinata and we are doing a Pin-the-nose-on-Mickey game (like pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey). I was thinking of doing a match game with rubber duckies in a swimming pool for the little ones.

Any other games that any one can think of?

Also should I have prizes? (Kinda like a goodie bag with actual good stuff not the cheap crap.)

  • Lawsuit against own parents?

Long story short... My parents owe me over $100,000 from a variety of different things from where I loaned them money, paid certain bills for them, bought them a car, bought my sister a car, house cleaning, and more. I have everything in contracts and I thought that everything was going pretty well until my step-father came to my house a few days ago and took a car that both he and I were on the title. This is the car that my husband drives to work and we are now left with one car. While my step-father was pulling the car from our front yard he broke the axle and busted the front tire. We called the cops but they could not do anything because he was off the property and his name is also on the title. I never thought that he would do this but I guess I was wrong. I am currently in a high risk pregnancy and the stress is overwhelming.

Should I go ahead and go through with a lawsuit against them?

If so, do I have the advantage if I have proof that I am the one that paid for the car and all the money that they owe me?

I know that this is going to cause problems between my family and that is the one thing that is holding me back. My brother supports my decision and says that he will take up a lawsuit against them as well because they owe him around $20,000.

The reason that he came and got the car was because my mother wrecked hers and my sisters by backing into my sisters and they are two cars short.

  • A Scrapbook for baby boy...?

I have an 11 month old son and I am really into scrapbooking.

Is it weird to make a scrapbook for a boy?

Many people have told me that he will not appreciate it and that I am wasting my time but I want him to have the memories in pictures as well as the little items we picked up on vacation and such. I am starting on my second one for him because the first one is so full and barely closes but there have been so many memories that I think are important, such as first Christmas, vacations, and his memorable moments (first steps, first foods, first haircut, ect.)

    So my questions is:

How many of you have made a scrapbook for your child?

  • Not sure what to do about this...?

My son is 10 months old, almost 11 months old...

He is completely on regular food without any spices and such...

My husband and son went out to lunch on Father's Day with his family... I am on bed rest with my second pregnancy and can not ride for two hours...

Anyways! My sister-in-law gave my son rice with chili powder in it and it has hurt his belly... (TMI: His poop was a little bloody. Called the pediatrician and she said to keep an eye on it.)

I already said something to my husband and pretty much told him his was an idiot because he should have stopped her and what not...

Should I say something to his sister or just leave it alone?

  • Pre-eclampsia Question?

My doctor believes that I have pre-eclampsia and I should be getting the results back with in the next couple hours... But for now I am on bed rest and my pregnancy has been changed to a high risk pregnancy.

I went to the doctor on Friday for a routine check-up and she said that I am not gaining enough weight and my blood pressure was high. But my tummy was measuring large. I told her about the pains that I have been having, I changed doctors because the last one that I was going to was rude and did not seem to have the time to answer my questions. The new doctor had me get monitored and more blood work done because she felt like there was more to what was going on and wanted to get everything checked out. About two minutes into being monitored, I passed out. The second time that I know for sure about during this pregnancy. They gave me an iv drip and explained to me that they believed that the umbilical cord was being mashed and they moved me around a small bit and once I was ok they continued the monitoring and sent me home a few hours later because they thought that I would be more comfortable at home and since I live like three minutes from the hospital, I would be able to get there. They had me do the 24 hour urine collection and we are waiting for the call...

    My questions are:

    If I have pre-eclampsia will I have to have a C-Section?

Will they go ahead and have me delivery, which ever way, today even though I am only 32 weeks and 6 days?

Has anyone else every heard of the mother passing out because the umbilical cord is being mashed?

  • Husband driving me crazy while pregnant?

I am 32 weeks and it seems like my husband is driving me crazy...

I love him very much but things that normally do not bother me, bother me... For example, I had no problem with cuddling before I got pregnant, I wanted to all the time... But now I have interest in it and when my husband wants to cuddle with me, I just feel weird and have no interest in it...

Is this normal? I know I sound crazy... I am just wondering if anyone else has had this problem...

  • White wedding dress Question?

My husband and I eloped 2 years ago because we were tired of the fighting between my mother on every decision that needed to be made...

My husband received a promotion last week and decided to buy me a new engagement ring and he asked me to renew our vows last night... Because he knows how much I want to have a wedding... He suggested that we have the ceremony that I always dreamed about, since we have the money now to do it...

My question is... Will it be ok to wear a white dress even though I have had a child?

I have seen where lots of women wear white gowns even when they have been married multiple times...

    Thank you!

  • Potty Training Questions?

My son is 10 months old and wants to use the potty... He is already standing up really well and talking well too...

But some days he doesn't seem interested it in and other days he will tell us that he needs the potty or him will go in there and potty himself and then come tell us...

It seems that he is really interested in it on the days that we are not at home and I don't know what to do... Should I buy another potty and keep it in the car because it is like he won't use the actual toilet yet he has to be the one that is standing and doesn't want someone to hold him while he potties...

    To sum up the questions...

    1. Should I get another potty to go in the car?

    2. What are some ways to encourage him to do it every day?

    Thank you for your answers!

  • Horrible pains while pregnant?

I am 31 weeks and I can not seem to relieve any pain with Tylenol or simply resting...

My pains are in my legs, kinda like "Charlie Horse's" but will not go away... My husband has tried to massage them but it is too painful... This has been going on for almost a week...

Then there is the pain that goes around my stomach around to my back... It starts higher on my back than my stomach and goes up and down depending on if I am sitting or laying down... And I know that it is not the baby, because the location she is in is the only place that seems to not hurt...

I know that with pregnancy comes pain but this pain is much worse than any pain that I had throughout the whole pregnancy/birth of my son...

    My questions are:

Does anyone know what the pain can be coming from?

What can I try to relieve the pain?

Should I call my doctor? (Even though I am in the middle of changing doctors.)

    Thank you!

  • A few different questions about pregnancy?

I have a few different questions that I would like some opinions on please...

    1. I will be 31 weeks on Monday, is it too late to change doctors? (My doctor makes me feel like my problems are not important, such as I have been cramping for weeks now and she will not order for me to be monitored and she "guesses" this such as she guessed that I had a Urinary Track Infection and gave me medicine then called two days later and told me to stop taking the medicine.)

    2. What can I use to make my stretch marks go away? (I have tried the pregnancy stretch mark lotion stuff and I had an allergic reaction to it.)

    3. There is hair growing around my belly button, is there anything that I can do to get rid of it or will it "go away" after I deliver?

    4. This is my third pregnancy, I had a miscarriage and I have a little boy, but I am in constant pain around my lower abdomen., if I lay down it is really low but when I sit up it kinda moves up some like a ring around where my belly button is going all the way around my body... What could this be?

    Thank you for your answers!
