  • Hayden 3654 only has a push-in temperature sensor - can I replace it with a screw-in one?

I have the dual-fan, dual-speed electric radiator fan assembly off a Nissan Maxima, and I want to fit it onto my 300ZX to replace the standard engine fan, which runs off the engine.

Since the fan assembly contains two fans, both of which are dual speed, I'm thinking of using the 2-speed/2-fan controller model 3654 from Hayden Automotive to do it, but that only comes with a push-in temperature sensor (which goes between the radiator fins), for which there will be no room on the radiator after the fans are fitted.

I'd like to snip off that push-in sensor and replace it with a screw-in sensor, which I'd install into the water pipe already containing the engine temperature sensors (the one which goes between the top of the radiator and the engine's water jacket). Does anyone know whether this will work - i.e. whether the fan controller will get it right - and which would be the best screw-in sensor to use? Thanks.

PS: Here's the fan controller in question:

  • .Net dialog boxes with custom button labels?

In something like the Windows Games, when you exit, you get a dialog box which says, "What do you want to do with the current game?" and the buttons say, "Save", "Don't Save" and "Cancel". Now, "Save" and "Don't Save" are not part of the System.Forms.MessageBoxButtons enumeration: does anyone know how to generate dialog boxes like this... or are the games faking it, and displaying something which looks like a dialog box but actually isn't?

  • Log incoming connections on Cisco 850 series router?

I have a Cisco 851 router, and as part of a debugging exercise, I'd like to have it create a log of all incoming IP connections and the port numbers on which they connect, and then be able to read that log back. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

  • API to IIS to check syntax in ASP file (to use as plug-in for Dreamweaver)?

It's seriously annoying that Dreamweaver doesn't have a function in it to check the syntax of an ASP file.

IIS does it, though, when you try to run an ASP file: it compiles it on the spot and can give a fairly detailed error message when there's a syntax error or something.

I'm wondering if that part of IIS is accessible via an API: if it is, then it should be possible to write a plug-in for Dreamweaver which accesses that part of IIS to try to force compilation of an ASP file, and grab any error message that IIS generates.

How useful would that be? It's certainly more reliable and much easier than writing an ASP compiler one's self, besides which, I just don't have the time to sit there and write a whole compiler just to perform a simple function.

    Any ideas? Thanks...
