  • As an athlete, the only way to make megabucks is to be big in US?

I mean probably the best tennis player ever has made $42 million after dominating the sport for 5 years like never before or about $8 million /year. There was only one Roger in the entire planet. Then there are college football coaches like Nick Saban making $4.5 million/year and top basketball, baseball, football players making over $20 million/year even though they are team sports and they are not the only reason their teams are winning. Tiger Woods made $115 million last year alone!! I guess you need to be big in America to make big money in general (see Sharapova, Agassi in tennis). Thoughts?

  • Milk teeth question for my 6 yr old. Concerned about rogue tooth..?

My daughter is 6.5 years old and none of her teeth have started to fall yet. One of her bottom lateral incisor teeth is shaking now but hasn't fallen. In the mean time, a permanent tooth has started to grow rather quickly behind it. Is this normal or is there reason to be concerned that the permanent tooth will forever be behind the normal gumline? Or will it fill the space when the milk tooth in front of it falls off? I know there is always the option of braces later on but was trying to get feedback from dentists and other parents who have experienced this. I don't have dental insurance for this year and so I am asking before plunking money for consultation. Thank you!

  • Nadal's Stuttgart withdrawal needed for year end No.1 ranking?

I think it was smart for Nadal to withdraw so that he can save his knees for the hardcourt season (and prolong his career as well). Last year, he really got injured playing Stuttgart after Wimbledon and had a miserable time in the US. Anybody know how many points he will lose by not defending Stuttgart? I think he would fare better in the hardcourts this year to make those up. But what does he need to do at the minimum to make up the 500+ points to overtake Roger by the Master's cup (besides Roger losing early which is probably not going to happen)? Expecting him to win the US Open is unrealistic since both Djokovic and Federer have the upper hand on hardcourts for now. Even Nalbandian (when he has his head on straight), Tsonga, Berdych, Blake and other aggressive players have better luck with Nadal on hard courts. Is reaching the semis enough? Rafa so deserves the No.1 but there is that little hurdle called the computer....

  • How is Nadal taking his claycourt game to grass and being so successful?

The surfaces are so different and top spin is not a big weapon on grass. You got to hit flatter and bounces are lower and more slippery on grass. Is his technique fundamentally so sound that is doesn't matter what surface? If so, why does he struggle (relatively) on hard courts where he has been blown out many times. Is the hard surface hard on his knees?
