4 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoAnyone with an infant who had swine flu?
I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter and 6 month old son who have not been vaccinated for swine flu. Just wondering if anyone has had children with swine flu and how bad it really is?
6 AnswersParenting1 decade agoFlu vaccine - yes or no for my 3 year old?
My daughter is 3 years old and has gotten the flu vaccine the past 2 years. Just wondering if you do or don't get your child vaccinated. I really want to get her vaccinated this year b/c we have a 4 month old at home. I actually want us all to get vaccinated. My husband works as a driving instructor and is in a car all day long with 3 or 4 different students a day. My daughter was vaccinated last year and wound up with a small bout of the flu - she only threw up twice and was over it. I, on the other hand, was pregnant, did not get a flu shot, and wound up throwing up for like 14 hours. So, I'm thinking the flu shot helped her in that instance. What are your opinions?
8 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoWhen did your little one start to laugh out loud?
My little guy is 3 1/2 months old/16 weeks (he'll be 4 months on the 4th of September) and he still isn't giving me a good giggle or belly laugh. He squeals in delight and smiles at everything. He's a very happy, smiley baby, just no giggles or laughs. His older sister lol at 14 weeks. It's like he tries, but grunts instead b/c he doesn't know what to do. Does he seem behind a bit?
2 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoCoupons for DelGrosso's Amusement park?
Anyone know where I can find a link/site for buy one, get one free admission to DelGrosso's amusement park in Tipton, PA? I called and the lady said you have to get them off the radio station or t.v. station where you heard the commercial. Well, I didn't hear about it from a station, but from a friend. She's not sure where her bro-in-law got the tickets, though. Anyone been recently and know a site that offers these coupons?
5 AnswersAmusement Parks1 decade agoHow do I get my 3 month old to take a bottle...?
of pumped breast milk? Since birth, he's rejected a pacifier and never really liked a bottle, but he would at least take one with this specific type of nipple that he liked. Now, in the past week or two, he's started refusing any bottle. He gags on it and spits it out and cries. There are times when I go out that I need him to take a bottle for my husband or my mom. What in the world should I do to get him to take a bottle again? I feel like a prisoner to breastfeeding. He won't take a bottle for me or anyone else. Any suggestions?
3 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoCan anyone please tell me their 2 or 3 month olds sleep schedule?
My little guy is 12 weeks today and he was on a pretty good schedule at night of sleeping from about 11-4 or even longer a few weeks back, then waiting 4 hours to eat again. Now he's getting up every 3-4 hours again. He's a big baby (14 lbs) already, so he is physically able to sleep through the night without needing to eat that often, he just won't. I try to pacify him in other ways to get him back to sleep (rubbing his back, rocking him, letting him fuss it out) but he won't take a binky, starts sucking on his fingers, and gets himself awake and crying and can only be soothed back to sleep by eating. He sleeps in bed with me (after he initially goes down for the night and wakes up), so I'm not loosing much sleep over it - I just don't think he needs to eat so much b/c he's so big already and I want him to sleep through the night - in his own crib - eventually. Looking for your routines, baby's own sleep schedule, suggestions, anything that might get him to sleep longer stretches of time again. Thanks.
12 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoHow much did your baby weight at his/her 2 month check-up?
My son weighed 6 lbs. 1 oz. at birth and was 19 in long. He's exclusively breastfed and, today, at his 2 month check-up (he's 11 weeks old), he weighed 14 lbs and was 24 3/4 in. long. He's in the 95th percentile for his height/weight! He's so chunky! It's odd b/c my daughter was barely in the 5th percentile at her 2 month old check-up and she's still petite. She's 3 years old now and still only weighs 26 lbs. Anyone else have chunky babies and when did they start to slow down with their growth? Just wondering if he's always gonna be so high up on the charts.
9 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoQuestion about sex after giving birth...?
I gave birth 11 weeks ago to my 2nd child. I didn't tear or need stitches at all with this baby. I felt almost no soreness in the weeks after giving birth. However, about a month after birth, I started to feel some pain as if I maybe had a hemorrhoid or something...turns out I didn't. We had sex for the first time about 6 weeks after delivery, then again a week or 2 later, and again tonight. Every time we try, it hurts and burns. I felt more pain tonight after sex than I did after I gave birth. Anyone else experience this? Should sex still be painful since I didn't tear or have stitches?
5 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoIs something wrong with my 5 week old?
My son will be 5 weeks tomorrow and he sleeps ALL the time. He sleeps all day and, although he's more restless and noisy at night, he pretty much sleeps through the night - especially if he's in bed with me. He was born 3 1/2 weeks premature (at 36 weeks, 4 days) and I'm not sure if this has something to do with it or not. There will be days when we can't wake him for anything. He will, however, wake to eat, so that's not a problem. He's growing fine. Then he has days when he'll be awake maybe 3 to 4 hours out of the whole day. This just doesn't seem right to me. At 5 weeks old, my daughter (who was born full term) was pretty much awake all day except for a few naps. Is my son just a good sleeper or does it sound like cause for concern? I mentioned it to the pediatrician at his 2 week check up, but he didn't seem concerned.
8 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoAnyone ever give their infant gripe water?
My little guy is 3 1/2 weeks old. For the past 3 nights, he's had, what seems to be, really bad gas. He grunts most of the night and his belly draws up really hard. I thought maybe he was just grunting b/c he has his days and nights mixed up, but don't think that's the case anymore. He tries to sleep and even seems to be in pain while he's sleeping. I've made sure to burp him throughout the day, so that gas won't build up. Last night I gave him a bath with the lavender baby wash, gave him gas drops before bed, and even made sure to get up with him during his feedings instead of laying him down beside me to eat. That way I made sure he was burped and didn't fall asleep beside me without burping. Since the gas drops don't seem to be working, I was thinking about trying gripe water. Anyone tried this and found it successful?
11 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoWhat outfit did you use to get your newborn's pics taken in and bring him/her home from the hospital in?
I'm having a hard time finding a cute, not too casual, but not too fancy outfit for a baby boy. With my daughter, she was so tiny, the only option I had was a sleeper/gown thing. All the other items I'd brought with me to the hospital were too small. This time around, I know to bring a preemie outfit and a newborn outfit. However, I can't seem to find anything just right. Any suggestions?
7 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoWith your 2nd child, when did you set up baby items around the house (before baby comes)?
I'm 35 weeks pregnant and wanting to get the cradle, swing, and pack&play bassinet ready around the house, but this time around, I have a 3 year old who thinks that every baby item is a toy for her and her dolls. With my first pregnancy, I obviously didn't have this problem. Just wondering with your 2nd child, when you got things ready around the house. I don't want to wait until the baby comes home from the hospital b/c some of the items are in the attic and need to be washed/cleaned off. And I just like to be prepared.

7 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWhy do they make you turn off your cell phone at the OBGYN?
Just curious b/c I have a daughter that I have to leave with a babysitter, and if there were an emergency, I would want to be able to be reached... Not have to wait until I turn my phone back on. I don't even mind putting it on silent, but off? My doctor's office posts a sign that says "Phones Off, Not on Vibrate".
9 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoWhy is my potty-trained daughter trying to hold her pee until she has accidents?
I've seen other people ask this kind of question about regression during potty-training and I know all of the most common answers. I just need to vent. My daughter is 33 months and has been potty-trained since 28 months old. The last 3 or 4 weeks, though, she has been trying to hold her pee, won't succeed, and then she'll let enough leak into her panties for me to have to change them before she'll run to the potty. We ask her all the time if she has to go and she'll say no but 2 mins later she's wet her panties a little bit again. It's so frustrating! I don't wanna put her back in diapers b/c she only ends up having maybe 2 accidents a day, but not sure what to do. Has this happened to anyone else and how long before this phase will pass?

10 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWhat stores sell Luvs Newborn size diapers?
I can't find the Newborn size (4-10 lbs.) Luvs brand at Wal-Mart or Target, but I know that they make them b/c I've seen them on the Luvs website. Anyone know which stores sell this size?
