  • Chances of getting into UC Berkely?

I'm just about finished with 1st semester of my sophomore year.

Here are my classes and grades for this semester. Fortunately, UCs don't consider freshman year.

    Precalc: A

AP history (world): B (weighted as 4 points)

    Computer Science: B

    Physics: B

    Honors english: B

    German: A

That makes my GPA for this semester a 3.5. I plan on doing much better next semester. I've also taken the AIME (got a 7) and a 118.5 on the AMC 12. My SAT score is a solid 2250 (probably can improve upon that) and a 28 on the ACT (can also improve upon that).

Also, I'm a California resident; i'm not sure if that helps my chances or not.

I'm just wondering (provided i perform well in my junior and senior year) if I have a good chance of getting into UC Berkeley. I'm mostly worried about my B in physics and comp. sci. because i want to do engineering at Berkeley, and grades like that in important subjects might make me a less attractive candidate in that field. Naturally, I plan on doing more things (like internships and other competitions like USAPO and USACO) as well as trying to do more extra curricular activities. I don't know all the components to college acceptance, but I can get a great letter of recommendation from my chemistry teacher and my math teacher right now (hopefully others in the next two years).

    Thanks!

  • How would this look for college?

I'm only a freshmen in high school so I don't have a lot of details, but recently my brother went to college, so my all my parents talk to me about are college apps, grades, etc. When I go to college, I want to go to CIT. Do colleges put more weight on being really good at one thing, or prefer that you are very all-rounded? The thing is, I am very good at math and sciences, but heavily lacking in English. I got into the USAMO as a 9th grader, so I'm hoping that holds some weight. I have an A in all of my classes except for Honors English in which I have a C- in. I'm really scared because the semester is coming up and I'm not sure if I can pull it up to a B, much less an A. If colleges see a C, will they just toss my application away? I knew that English isn't my strong suit, so I wanted to go really far in math and science in order to weigh them out. I'm actually not that concerned about CIT because they hold math and science over everything else. My problem is that I won't get admitted into UC colleges like Berkeley because UCs like to see some all-rounded students, not just math students.

  • Pokemon Firered EV training... I'm a noob?

Ok. This is my first attempt to EV train a pokemon. I have not beaten the Elite 4 yet, but I am trying to EV train my Aerodactyl for attack. It has a docile nature, which, i think, is neutral. I have an idea of how to EV train, but I'm not completely sure how to yet. From what I underestand, you fight certain types of pokemon, regardless of trainer battle or wild pokemon battle, that will give certain amounts of EVs to a certain stat. When you level up, you will gain more stat points in that area. Is that right? I just want to make sure that you can train against other NPC trainer pokemon and that I am not wasting my time by fighting this biker with a machop and machamp over and over. Can you please explain how to EV train or let me know if my understanding is correct? I also want to know what the best place to train for attack is. Thank you

  • What should I do if i've been caught masturbating?

Umm... this is kinda embarassing, but its killing me from the inside out. Earlier today, i thought i was alone, so i did a quick jerk. I was really getting into it, and closed my eyes for a minute. The next thing i know, by older brother is walking up to me. Luckily, I had a blanket over me, so he didn't see anything (except for the "bulge" and my hands were in the blanket), but I could tell he probably knew what i was doing. He seemed pretty chill about it. He didn't say a word, and I was too embarassed to say anything. I think we're both a little freaked out, but i'm hoping that we'll both forget this incident. I just wanted to know if this is normal and what will likely happen. I know he's not gonna hate me or anything, but it feels really awkward now, and I don't want to have this weird incident between my bro and I. I also wan't to know if I should be frank with him and tell him what was going on and apologize, or if I should just let it stay quiet. I don't know if he jerks off because i've never caught him, but the fact that he was pretty chill about it made me think that he probably can relate to what it might feel like.

    Thanks...
