  • Flowers you can plant in May?

I want to give my mother flower bulbs or seeds she can plant for Mother s Day, but I m not sure which (if any) can be planted this late and still grow/bloom in time for this summer. FYI my mom lives in Western Colorado, which is Zone 6b on the plant hardiness scale.

  • Products for skiers with gout?

My dad is getting old and has recently been experiencing gout flare ups. I'm worried it will impact his usual snow skiing routine, and I was wondering if anyone knows of special ski boots, inserts, or other things that will help him on the slopes.

  • How can a presidential candidate when the general election when the opposite party controls the electoral college?

For instance, how can a Democratic candidate hope to win the 2016 presidential election when Republicans control the House and Senate? I know that technically representatives are supposed to vote in line with a majority of their constituents, but there's nothing forcing them to do so.

  • Bernie Sanders campaign speech schedule?

I'm interested in attending an event where Sanders will be speaking, but I can't find any resources detailing exactly what his speaking schedule is. His campaign site doesn't seem to display any such information. By the way, I reside in Texas, so I know he won't be coming here in the near future, but I'd like to plan ahead if I can figure out when he'll come.

  • Can I watch the Republican primary debate on 8/6/15 without cable?

According to the article linked below, "The debates will primarily air on Fox News Channel, but Fox News will also feature the high-profile event on its website, Fox News Radio..."

However, I'm not sure whether I'll be able to watch if I don't have a cable package, and I'm not sure if it's actually going to include video or just audio (given that it's Fox News "Radio").

If the video will not stream without a cable package on the Fox News Radio website, does anyone know of an alternative way of streaming it?

  • What to name my signature drink?

I'm getting married next month, and my fiancé and I are each coming up with a signature drink to be served at the reception. My drink is made as follows:

    Ingredients (per drink)

    • 2 oz. Sour Mash Whiskey

    • 1 oz. Citrus Syrup*

    • 5-6 oz. Ginger Ale

    • Lemon Peel (Twist)

    Directions

    • Prepare simple syrup by boiling equal parts water and sugar, removing from heat, adding orange and lemon slices (approximately 1 lemon and 1 orange per gallon), cooling overnight. After 12-24 hours, strain out fruit.

    • Mix liquid ingredients in an iced shaker and serve in an old fashioned (or equivalent) glass and garnish with lemon twist.

Any ideas on what to name it?

  • Hops varieties for TX?

I'm planning to grow hops for home brewing in the Brazos Valley of Texas, and I was wondering what variety would be best to grow in that region, given (hot) climate. Also, if you can provide a reliable source to purchase the variety mentioned, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

  • Problems downloading Skype on Ubuntu Linux?

I got a new computer which runs Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and I am not at all familiar with Ubuntu. I've tried to download Skype (directly from the website), but when I do, I get the error message "Dependency is not satisfiable: libasound2 (>=1.0.23)". Looking that up, it seems I need to download libasound2 to download Skype, but when I tried, I got the error message that "A later version is already installed". What gives? If anyone could give very specific instructions to fix this problem, I'd really appreciate it.

  • Gift for Great Grandma?

My 97 year old great grandmother is moving into assisted living for the first time this month because she is no longer able to care for herself. I want to get her a nice Christmas present to cheer her up, but I'm at a loss as to what to get her. Given that she won't have much space in her new home, I don't want to get her something she won't need or won't use regularly. Unfortunately, I don't know too much about her interests, other than she enjoys reading harlequin novels and likes clocks and watches. Unfortunately, she already has too many of the latter, and I would be uncomfortable giving her the former. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What plant should I use for my terrarium?

I'm setting up a terrarium with the jar pictured. It's 11" tall with a 5.75" diameter at the base. Given that the first 3-4 inches is going to be used for drainage and soil, what would be an ideal plant to fill up the rest of the space? I'm looking for something that:

    1. Looks good

    2. Is NOT a succulent

    3. Requires medium-low light

    4. Requires low/moderate moisture

    5. Will not overgrow the container (I'm planning to keep this as a sealed unit)

    6. Ideally is available through online order

    7. Is available before Christmas (this is going to be a gift)

If anyone can point me to a specific species and seller, I'd really appreciate it.

  • Where can I get a cool terrarium jar?

I'm assembling all the materials for a (plant) terrarium for my grandpa's Christmas present so we can set it up together. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a decent jar that matches what I want. I'm looking for something that:

    1) Seals shut with a lid or cork

    2) Has a larger volume (~1 gallon)

    3) Has a wide enough mouth to insert and arrange plants/mosses

    4) Isn't too expensive ($40 or less)

If anyone can provide a link, I'd really appreciate it.

  • Straight Razor Recommendation?

I'm looking at getting into shaving with a straight razor, but I want a recommendation before I make the investment. I'm looking for one of the legitimate blades, not the kind that requires replacement razors. Also, I'm looking for something under $100. I've seen the Dovo brand razors, which are really nice, but they're a little out of my price range. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
