  • Pitbull training and care questions?

Alright I don t want any criticism so be polite please.

Situation: My roommate just adopted a dog, Cali, who who we assume is around a year old. She s a pitbull who has a great disposition so I m not worried about aggression so much as I am disobedience.

I have a dog myself, Kenai, and took the time to train him. I m worried about my roommate not taking the time to train his new puppy, he s military and works all day so he s not around. I have experience training a dog but he was a lot less hyper than Cali.

My question is, besides talking to my roommate which I will do, what are the best ways to train pitbulls? She outgoing and hyper, but has a very short attention span even with treats. Won t stay off the bed, so she doesn t understand no and down. I can get her to sit, but she ll jump up after to get the treat, which I don t give. I m just looking for a little advice on the matter.

Please don t bash on my roommate, he s irresponsible I get it.

  • What s wrong with the turtle?

I m house sitting for my friend and she s got a red eared turtle. It s only been a few days and it doesn t look like she s eating. I m not a turtle expert so I don t know if they shed like crabs and have a dormant stage. She s not moving much, but she is breathing. Isn t reacting to touch like she normally does either.

Please don t be rude with your comments, I really don t know much about these creatures.

  • What does it mean if a dog doesn t have control over their bladder?

It s my roommates dog so the situation is a little fuzzy for me.

She seems to be peeing involuntarily, when she s sleeping, gets excited, or just relaxing. Since she s not my dog, taking her to the vet isn t really something I have any control over. I was thinking bladder infection and worse case scenario kidney cancer/infection.

Any ideas on what it could be or how to approach my roommate about this.

  • Anyone know anything about sled dog related info?

My dog is 2 years now and since he was a puppy I have been teaching him the commands and getting him ready for the open snow, so to speak. He s getting to the age where he can handle long runs and I need to know more about the equipment to use and where to buy the best beginners items. We have a harness and that s about it lol. It snows a lot up in the mountains about an hour away from me so there are places for me to go with this.

I will be getting another dog, but she will be a puppy so for now it s just my one dog.

I would love all the information I can gather on this as I do wanna start taking trips this year.

Wolf Hybrid? I am curious to find out if my dog has wolf in him.?

So my dog is a 2 yr old male claimed to be 50/50 wolf-husky. Through research I don't think he is 50% wolf. I do believe however that he is super low-content. Some traits he has are "wolfish" for example, shyness from people and other dogs even with training and socialization. He watches before approaching if he does. He has a sharp bark that he only makes when he feels threatened or sees that I might be. He's super attached to me, it has taken me his whole life to get him to listen to other people.

Physically, he has webbed feet, all black claws, front dew claws, lon get and wider canine teeth, a black spot on his tail about 4 inches up from the tip, tail is completely straight never once curled, rounded ears with lots of surrounding fur, his coat gets super thick in the winter and sheds once a year, black pads on his paws which have been black since he was young, and my vet believes his eyes are almond shaped but I don't see it.

I also recognize that he has many physical dog traits. I'm not sure how to get more pictures, I'll figure it out.
