My name is Matthew and I live in Southern California. I am actively involved in school politics, debate, academics, etc. I am a huge sports fan and despite living in the South West, I am an avid fan of hockey. The Los Angeles Kings are my pride and passion and yet to win a cup, which means the first time they do will make it ever more sweeter. My teams rank as follows 1. Los Angeles Kings (NHL) 2. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (MLB) 3. Oakland Raiders (NFL) 4. Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) 5. Los Angeles Galaxy (MLS)

  • The clock stopped in Anaheim...?

Last night in a game between the Kings and Ducks in Anaheim, which I attended, the clock mysteriously stopped at 32.1 seconds left in the 3rd while Hiller was out of the net.

For all of you who blame the Kings for the "clockgate" earlier this year, why did no one pick up on this?

  • LA Kings 2nd period leads?

They are 81-0-6 when leading at the end of the 2nd period, how many other teams have a similar stat?

  • Have you been to an ECHL game before?

The Kings ECHL affiliate team, the Ontario Reign, are literally half way between Staples Center and my house. Despite being just 4 seasons old, they led the league in attendance the last two years even though they completely missed the playoffs.

Anyway, for a team in SoCal their fans are awesome and even though they lost 2-1 in a SO, it was still an experience. So have you ever been to an ECHL game before, seeing it is different from the NHL?

  • Oh Hallelujah it is broken, we are free...?

So tonight LA finally scored more than two goals (first time in 14 games) and didn't decide a game in a shootout (like the last three games).

What is one hump or milestone that your team seems to have been stuck in lately?

  • So um, whats it like...?

For as long as I have been watching hockey I don't think I have ever really seen LA with a goal average well above 3.00. So it makes me wonder what it's like to be a fan of a team where you are dissapointed when you don't score rather than surprised when you do.

Which teams this year have been at odds with your predictions before the season concerning their season. For example, both Tampa and Carolina are below what I expected of them.

  • So Terry Murray got fired...?

Los Angeles fired Terry Murray and brought up John Stevens to replace him. Your thoughts in yet another coaching change.

  • If you could be any player right now...?

I would have to be Luongo. I am at the game right now and after spending about half the period on the PK and only getting off 3 shots, it looks like he's got it all.

  • How would hockey be different...?

First off, I do not want to have an argument over whether the US or Canada is better as a result of this question just FYI.

If the Continental Army, back during the US Revolutionary war, would have succeeded in the taking of Quebec, how would the game of hockey be different as we know it, if it would be different at all. The only reason I ask is it has been fascinating sitting in AP US History listening and making connections between random facts of history and the development of the NHL and some of its teams i.e. Detroit, Montreal, Quebec, etc.

  • Doughty done for a lot...?

    Your thoughts?

When it and if it is confirmed I will update.

  • Sitting here listening to Dubstep once again...?

I have figured out over the course of the first couple weeks of school that APUSH (AP US History) homework goes almost hand in hand with Dubstep and for the rest, I listen to the likes of more Dubstep with some comedic relief by the likes of Bo Burnham, Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan, Chistian Finnegan, and Kevin Hart.

Here is my question, being preoccupied with school and all, I have not been able to keep up with the pre season, and that includes my Kings to an extent. How has your team been doing and what is their outlook?

  • So today went pretty good...?

Went Ice Skating today at the Desert Ice Castle and I must say, for only being open 2 weeks, things are moving along pretty fast and busy has really picked up. Met up with the coach and got some info and some flyers on the way out about teams and sessions etc. and I could finally learn to play the game I have watched for so long, if my parents and I decide to fork up the money and figure out how to fit it into my schedule which includes numerous AP classes, USB VP duties, Debate (also on weekends), World Quest etc.

Here's the question, what has been the best piece of hockey related info that you have heard about within the past week or so?

For example a Pittsburgh fan may note Crosby return to the ice, or a recent signing to your favorite team.

  • So yesterday I had quite the discussion...?

On Sunday, myself and 3,000 other Kings fan went to Hockeyfest in Staples Center and I got to address Dean Lombardi on the Power Play, and in front of the crowd, he asked me for advice being clever and all.

One of my biggest problems with the Kings is the predictability etc etc of their power play. What is one thing you know your team needs to improve on in order to succeed?

  • What do you look forward to?

Im sitting in LAX bored and waiting for my plane which, near the end of this trip, will lead us to Toronto eventually.

Before hockey, even before preseason, what are you most looking forward to?

  • I'm getting depressed...?

I start channel surfing as I normally do and come across NHL Network Sharks @ Kings Game 3 and a flood of bad memories come in. It was such a depressing game, that the 8 hours of my life it took up weren't worth it.

What was your least favorite part of these playoffs?

  • To the great people of Toronto...?

I am going there within the upcoming weeks with my dad and sister and I figured who knows Toronto better than hockey fans living there.

I am already going to an Angels game there against the Blue Jays and HHOF, and CN Tower. What would you all suggest we do there as a tourist (I don't mind being labeled one).

  • Which team, besides your own, would you like to see win the Cup?

I for instance am a Kings fan and I think it would be kind of cool to see either the Nashville Predators or the Buffalo Sabres win a Stanley cup.

BQ: I have been on here a year now and have kept the standard Yahoo logo thing, should I upload a photo of myself as my avatar?

BQ: Which division will the Stanley Cup winner come from?

  • Summer plans now that almost everything is done and said?

Here where I live, the temperatures reached 114°F so I am looking at a very hot start to my summer. Since today is the official start to summer, what are your plans especially since the postseason is over.

For me, my family is flying to the east coast for am Angels road trip. We will be stopping in Philly (just cause), NYC (sitting with the bleacher creatures unfortunately), then heading up to Toronto to see a game and go to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

BQ: Do you play on a hockey team? If so, what is the teams name?

I already own a Nikon D5000 and I am good with photography etc. But I have lately wanted to get a ruggedized compact but seeing as how I hate cameras with high megapixels but horrible sensors (as most due) I would like to know if any of you have any good experiences with any...

    Suggestions?

  • You see the Sharks Kings game?

Yes I am a Kings fan and it was a very satisfying game. How do you see this series turning out.

    BQ: Nashville or Anaheim

(as a Kings fan, I am obligated as a fan and by my personal preference to root for the Predators)
