  • Wireless LAN Help Hardware questions?

Okay Hi there, thanks for stopping by.

I am thinking of setting up a Wireless Local Area Network.

I am wanting to buy Netgear RangeMax Router

    http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-WPN824-Ran...

And a Netgear RangeMax PCI Adapter

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/det...

My father and I both have identical system pc desktops w/ XP in the same house. He is still on dial up (yeah I know) And I have digital path wireless broadband http://www.digitalpath.com/

My dad also has a newer dell laptop with vista, It has a built in antenna that has picked up wifi, etc...??

I know nothing about the hardware of laptops, I have been PC desktop since my 286. And I just recently have moved to broadband and know next to nothing about wifi and etc.

OK sorry that this is taking so long, but my question is:

Do I need to get NETGEAR WPN511 RangeMax Wireless PC Card

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/det...

for his laptop or is this just for older laptops that do not have built in antenna's?

Also What is the max range of standard wireless routers, the few I looked at were 400 ft, is that the max or are there better ones? Of course for more $$$.

  • What is the name of this 80's teen movie?

There is an 80's teen movie where one of the characters, a girl I think, drives a 1960 Studebaker Lark VIII convertible, with animal print seat covers. The car is recognizable because it has the glove box in the center of the dash instead of on the passenger side.

I was thinking that it was "Some kind of wonderful" but I wasn't able to find any correlation between the two.
