  • Should I quit my part-time job?

I m starting a full-time job as an aide at a local middle school this week. I currently also work part-time as a lifeguard at a local YMCA during the afternoon hours three days a week. I recently quit my other part-time jobs to accommodate my new job and figured I d keep the Y while my lifeguarding cert is still good. I sent an email to my boss notifying him that while it wouldn t be a major difference, I d be starting to come in slightly later because of my hours at my new job slightly overlapping but since there are other staff members there, I didn t see it as a huge issue.

He emails me back saying "no, come in at your regular time." He expects me to leave my full-time job early to come work there for $10 plus paying for parking out of my own pocket. I honestly think that is perposterious.

This has been an issue for a while, he constantly comes to me on a near-daily basis asking me to cover random shifts, early morning shifts, late night shifts, weekends, sometimes I do them, sometimes I can t, But he doesn t let up. Yet when I try to find coverage on the occasions I need it and ask him for help, he just tells me I m not trying hard enough. With his new expectations, this seems to have reached the peak.

I honestly don t know what to do, they aren t bad people at the Y but I absolutely refuse to leave my new job early to come work there. Should I quit? I honestly don t know what to do.

  • iPhone 4S not taking home wi-fi connection?

My home wi-fi network was acting a bit kooky today. It kept going in and out on all our computers and phones and such and would then reset after. Now it seems for the most part to have gone away, I'm on my personal/school laptop writing this question with no problems - my iPhone 4S however just isn't cooperating. At first it was connecting to the internet for about seven seconds then disconnects, connects for another few seconds, disconnects and so on. I reset my phone's settings and now when I try and connect and put the network ID in - it connects for mere seconds then says that the password is incorrect or fails to log in. What's going on here?

  • MIght end up failing class for stupid reasons, what can I do?

My final for Italian was today. I've been struggling in the class all semester but was hoping that quizzes, homework, attendance and extra credit would get me at least a low but acceptable grade. Apparently last night the professor sent out an email saying that he needed everyone to bring all their tests and quizzes with them so he could mark down the grades TODAY. I never got the email because I was focusing last night and this morning on studying. Furthermore, I threw out most of the papers over the weekend thinking I'd never need them again... As he gave no previous indication that this would happen. So now, even though I had every test/quiz done, I'm likely getting no grade for them. I've already talked about this with friends and they have said to e-mail the professor and tell him about my situation, but he doesn't like me so I doubt much will come from that and he was fuming when I had none of my past tests/quizzes with me this morning. I've also been told to contact the department chair and student affairs ASAP as "It's not my responsibility to earn his salary/credit by keeping his records for him." My only worry is that, since I was doing so blah during the semester, all the departments may just write me off as someone crying about a low grade. Is there anything I can do or is this a lost cause?

    1. Studiamo ogni giorno.

    2. I ragazzi hanno lezione tutte le mattine.

    4. Finisci tutti gli esercizi in classe?

  • Worried about failing a college class?

I m a student in his tentative final year of college finishing up his final GE requirements - a foreign language class. The school has kept it very vague as to what the requirements are (system-wide with transfer waivers, which I have, is one class but the school-wide is two) but I ve taken the class and struggled through all semester. I ve done bad on all the tests and most quizzes (one quiz I got a 100 on and got a 91 on a take-home quiz) but have done OK on most of the homeworks, have perfect attendance for the class, participate when called on and went to a seminar to get extra credit points on my final grade. All I m looking to get is the lowest possible passing grade to gain credit and/or move on to the next class. I ve taken other classes where I failed most tests and still walked away with decent grades. It s just foreign languages are far from my best skill, in fact they are one of my worst and I m just worrying about the grade. Advice?

  • External disc drive stopped working, please help?

My laptop [Windows 8] has decided it doesn't like my external disc drive [LG slim portable DVD writer] anymore. It works on other computers but not my laptop, so there's no problems there. When it's connected the status reads "Driver error" and troubleshooting doesn't do anything. It's connected by USB so I have no idea why it would have any real problems. Every other USB-connected device is still working fine, my iPhone connects, flash drives go in, I have no idea what's going on. System restores do nothing, troubleshooting does nothing, I'm at a loss. Anybody out there who can help with this?

  • I have a crush on an internet friend?

So two months ago - I friended a girl on Facebook. She's a friend of a close [actual] friend, they only know each other through Tumblr but have been friends for years and the three us all share very similar interests, which is why I friended her in the first place. Anyway, we hit it off well right away - I'm honestly not used to a girl being as nice to me as she is (the last girl I fancied had a Jekyll and Hyde complex and would jump from being a ***** to nice girl before shutting me out completely) it's to the point I'm even friends with her mom on Facebook (she added me). I've been feeling for quite some time that I actually really like her a lot. The only problem is my friend and I both live in New York, she lives in Louisiana. I feel like I can't hide this from her for too long, after all I told last girl I liked her, but at the same time, she lives a thousand miles away and I don't know what to do. It seems so silly but she's so delightful to talk to..

  • Car security light on while locked?

I noticed as I was heading home tonight that after I locked my car, the security light began to blink. I tested the car out about an hour later and it drives normally, when the car is unlocked and/or started it (the light) is not on - but when all the car doors are shut and locked, the light comes on. Should I be worried or something I just haven't noticed before?

  • Does using wifi on iPhone use data?

So after 7 years, I finally took the iPhone plunge. My dad's retirement plan got us discounted, unsold phones last week and we ordered iPhone 4s for the family. I made the rookie mistake of inadvertently leaving the 3G on whenever I wasn't connected to wi-fi, downloading a ton of apps that require internet connection, etc. We got a text saying an abnormal amount of data was used within a week and that ended up being via those mistakes. I've already shut off the cellular data on the phone for the time being but as a newbie to the whole iPhone thing - does leaving the wi-fi on but not 3G/cellular data add to the data plan or does it just work like a laptop and you can use wi-fi wherever?

  • My Kodak camera won't turn on or charge?

I bought a KOZI10B a little over a month ago for a film project but waited to use it due to better equipment coming my way. Initially, the camera turned on but had a hard time with the SD card but still worked perfectly fine, today I went to Radio Shack and bought a new SD card for it and now it won't even turn on. I have absolutely no idea why, I've barely used it in the last month, it's mostly been sitting on my shelf. It's charging right now but that seems to be doing absolutely nothing. What is this?

  • Girl dilemmas?

So there's a girl at my school right now who I've really come to take interest in. We both transferred into the school this semester and are in a class together, we've had some connections via class - we're project partners often, we know a little bit about each other. I want to really tell her how I feel but the right moment never came up. That and I've been getting over a relationship is a past young lady that ended on very bitter terms. The closest I got to telling her was an anonymous confessions Facebook page for our school and a small birthday present I gave her a months back that she found "cute" but not exactly a clear blatant indicator of feelings.

Now as we get closer to the end of the year, I get hit with two big WHAM moments. First, her cousin is in the hospital right now suffering from meningitis and I know it's very hard on her and her family, she's had to take a ton of time off to accommodate the emergency and I don't want to hit someone with feelings of love right when they are going through something like this. Then I find out today that she is going back to the school she transferred from in the fall, which is five hours away. So yeah, I really have no idea how to go about this.

  • Should you confront a girl who hurt you?

Long story short: A female co-worker of mine during last summer continually flaked on me and made excuses whenever I asked to hang out yet would constantly act like we were friends otherwise and still manage to (blatantly) make time for other people. When I told her I didn't want to hang out with her anymore, she suddenly became apologetic only to go back to her usual shtick. We had something of a falling out right after Christmas last year I don't want to go into, but she randomly stopped talking to me and not responding to my attempts to contact her.

If she were just some random girl at school and she did all this, I would just forget about her and never speak to her again. But since we're co-workers three months out of the year, I've got to do something or else I'm going to make my summer pretty miserable. Basically, I was going to take her aside first chance I get and tell her what she did to me last summer was very cruel, even if she didn't mean to, and that if she actually wants to be friends, she's going to have to pick up the slack because I've done everything I can but otherwise, I'm legitimately done with trying to deal with her. Would it be wise to do this in these circumstances?

  • Keep this friend or ditch her?

Over last summer, I became reasonably good friends with a girl at my summer job but she makes it so difficult to really keep a good, strong friendship going. I ask her to hang out when we're both home for the summer or winter break or whatever, she flaked on me at least once or she is busy (I know it sounds suspicious but her excuses are almost always legitimate). I call her out on flaking and tell her I don't want to hang out with her anymore, she gives me a sincere apology. If I text/e-mail/Facebook/call her, she'll always take the time out to acknowledge me and it seems like we can trust each other, make the other laugh and enjoy their company, but I still always have to be the one to contact her first. I think the fact that she's put up with me for nine months at least says a little something but she always feels a bit distant. Granted, yes, my own friends whom I've known longer have a tendency to do the same things she does (I haven't seen my best friend in almost three years because he always manages to be busy or traveling, etc.) and, to be honest, if she was just some random person and she flaked, I would cut her off right away but the fact that we are co-workers during the summer means I have to have some kind of tolerance for her. But that distant feeling I get from her makes me re-evaluate things a bit. Is she worth holding on to?

  • Is it bad to spend six years in college?

I spent my first year of college after high school at a school knowing exactly what I wanted to do and my adviser told me I was on the right path to be graduating in four years. Then financial aid collapsed and my parents couldn't afford for me to go to that school and I went to my local community college. Finished everything I needed to graduate in three semesters, took an extra semester to boost my GPA and because the graduation deadline for fall graduation would have passed by the time my online math course transcripts would have been sent and approved (took them outside of CC) but got an Associate's in Communications. Spent that fall afterward at a school I really didn't like, felt uncomfortable at and withdrew after two months because I was on the cusp of failing all my classes. i am at a new school now and should take the appropriate four semesters to finish a degree. This would mean I would be in school two years longer than most of my peers are now. I see plenty of people I graduated high school with posting on Facebook about how it's their final semester yet I'm so excessively behind. My parents were keen on me finishing in four years but that's obviously not happening. Is it a bad thing to be in school for as long as I will be?
