Due to being distracted by life (school, work, family), I haven't had a relationship in 6 years. I'm also a virgin and that creates a lot of insecurities in me. I'm afraid that I will never find a women who will love me. I tried to have a date last weekend, but I got stood up. I waited an hour and got played for a fool because she said she was running late. I feel so alone and insecure right now.

It is so frustrating being a lonely guy. I have all this sadness inside me, but I can't show it without feeling judged by others. People don't want to be around sad people. I have such a terrible mixture of fears (STD's, rejection, being used) and sadness that I can't seem to escape.

If you have any advice, encouragement, or a video that will allow me to cry this out in private, I could really use it right now.

Caffeine seems to prop up several systems in the body artificially and these systems seem to go haywire when I stop caffeine. For example, I feel more depressed (decreased serotonin and dopamine). I also have less energy (no adrenaline surge and adenosine finally gets to calm my nerves).

My question is: are there specific foods that I can eat to help my brain chemicals get back to normal faster?

I’m a virgin guy of 24 who hasn’t dated for about 6 years now. I feel so afraid to take the first step. I have all these fears and worries. I want my first time to be special, but I worry that I will fall in love with a woman and then find out that she has been with a lot of men. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry. I hate this double standard that woman are allowed to be insecure to the point of tears over this but a guy will get called pathetic and women will be told to avoid such men.

I don’t know how to get over my fears. I really just want to feel loved and special by someone. I don’t have insecurities about other things in life. I’m afraid that she will take it personally if she’s not a virgin and it hurts me to hear it. I’m not some pig that would hold it against her – it just really hurts to even think about. It is not like I asked to have this pain in my heart.

How do I get out of this depression and start living my life?

Background: I've noticed that I get really depressed without caffeine. I went for 21 days without it and was still very depressed. I've found that caffeine + a good night's sleep = no depression. Thing is, from experience, I've found this to be a tricky balancing act. I also know about the long term damage caffeine can do.

Question: What brain systems/chemicals does caffeine activate? I would like to find natural foods that will help activate these things without all the bad caffeine side affects.

I will be taking a full week off of work to rest and recover from the stress of life. I would like to use the week like a boot camp for a few goals. My ideas so far:

- Stop drinking caffeine

- Eat very healthy

- Go to sleep with the sun and wake up naturally to help with the caffeine withdraws and restore my natural energy

- Do P90X two a days to help burn calories, get deeper sleep, etc...

If you took week off to rest and restore your energy levels, what would you do?

I'm starting to lose hope. I'm a 24 year old virgin guy who honestly believes that sex should be saved for a marriage relationship. After all, if I don't trust a women enough to marry her, then I would be holding back my heart in sex. This is not a religious thing. I just inherently feel that a sexual level of intimacy should be saved for marriage.

My problem is that it seems that most women today don't and even if they say they do, many are not telling the truth (and that is worse IMO). I don't think less of these women, they are free to make their own choices. It is just that I feel that I will never find a women who thinks of sex the same way I do.

I've thought of just going out into the world and not caring, but then I would be lying to myself and to any girl I date. I would just waste years for both of us. Sure, I might get over it by having a lot of sex, but how many hearts would I break in the process?

I don't know what to do...

When did you stop caring about the number of sexual partners a future spouse might have?

Wouldn't life be easier if we could just turn off our sex drive until we found a woman that was good long term material. Then we could dial it up to match her sex drive and live a happy life without all the selfish worries like jealousy, her sexaul past, or not getting what we want in bed.

Think of it this way: You would probably buy a new car off the lot without test driving that exact car, but if you bought a used car, you would test drive the car you are going to buy because the previous driver might have messed up the car and you can only find this out by testing that car.
