Love reading, love writing. Hope to get published one day. Apart from that I'm in a fairly content place these days after all those years of tilting at windmills. Educated within the hallowed alleys of the school of hard knocks I'm comfortable with what could charitably be called middle age. I would not want to be a kid again; but boy, I wouldn't mind looking like one again. The great adventure continues and I look forward to the promise of tomorrow. Or, at least, another sunny day, another glorious sunset. Wow, did you catch me in a melancholy mood or what?

  • Finding an honest publisher?

Well, I've finished the MS and now I need a publisher. Sounds easy but I am having the sort of problems only a first time writer encounters. Yes, I have googled my butt off but don't know who to trust. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

  • A single party political system?

If, hypothetically speaking, a new society was formed today. They wrote themselves a radical constitution and chose to have their people represented by a single party. Measures would be put in place to ensure that conscience voting was not only protected but encouraged. The elected representatives would debate in house until a majority of 75% was reached on every proposal. Oh, and by the way, this society has a fully functional, unbeatable lie detector hooked up to every politician. It screams when they lie. What do you think? Could such a system work? Cheers.

  • Evil words.?

I am looking for as many words as I can find to describe, evil, bad, satan etc. I've found Molech which means evil or devil but although I've scanned the net I have been unable to find a decent single collection. Any ideas on possible sites? Or is there a linguistic genius on YA? Thanks for any suggestions.

  • YA computer problem.?

When I get answers to my questions or best of for an answer I no longer get informed via my email address. As far as I know I haven't done anything to cause this. I contacted YA about the problem but, as usual, they have done nothing. Any ideas fellow YA sufferers? Cheers.

  • On the phone...?

what do you say when you answer the phone and what do you say just before you hang up. I'm a traditionalist and say hello and goodbye, but I've met a number of people who say really weird things.

  • Movie quiz.?

Okay here we go. Match the movies names to the quotes. Extra points if you name the actor. No googling guys. This is just a little one so good luck.

    1. "After all, tomorrow is another day."

    2. "I picked a hell of a time to give up

    sniffing glue."

    3. "That's some bad hat Harry."

    4. "Mister LeMar you use your tongue

    prettier than a $20 whore."

    5. "I've never tasted girl before."

  • Name the movies.?

Here's some quotes from movies. See how many movie names you can match. Extra points if you can name the actors. These are the easy ones:

    'We'll need a bigger boat.'

'What we have here is failure to communicate.'

'Are you insane, don't you realize that man is a nig.'

'I don't believe in the no win scenario.'

    'It's good to be king.'

'Frankly my dear I don't give a damn.'

'There's no place like home. There's no place like home.'

'I can't tell you. And stop calling me Shirley.'

If you like these let me know and I'll post some more. If you don't like these then remember that with silence comes peace. Good luck.

  • Okay, that's it, I can't take it anymore!?

What is with this LOL sh*t. Lots of love? Laugh out loud? If that's it then it is being used totally out of context. It doesn't make any sense. Struggling to join the 21st century I have hardened myself to ignore people texting their questions on YA but Lord oh Lord, what's going on with this LOL? Please assist a struggling baby boomer. Cheers.

  • Do you ever noticed...?

...that when people demand that you tell them the absolute truth, and you do so, that they are not very happy about it? I think such people would far prefer to hear a favorable lie than an honest truth. How about you?

  • What do you think about...?

Battlestar Galactica? Not that rubbish from the 70's but the brilliant new adaptation. I think it is the best TV show of the last thirty plus years. How about you?

  • Question for fans of S/F books.?

I've been looking for an old fashioned space adventure novel. Over the years the closest I have found is the Harrington series, which has lost the plot in recent books. Anyone know of some good books of this type; IE. Real meat and potatoes space adventure, properly written with good characters and lots of fun and action. If I wrote one would you want to read it?
