Sigma notation for Riemann sums?
Hi, so I'm trying to learn sigma notation but I'm not sure what they mean.
For example, say you're trying to find the rate of water flowing into a bucket. If the sigma looks like:
A 20 on top of the symbol, a 1 below the symbol, and A(x) times (change in x) to the right of the symbol, where A(x) is the rate
And the sum goes from 0 to 100 seconds,
Then what does that sigma notation represent? Is it the amount of water in the bucket after 100 seconds using 20 subintervals? (cause 20-1+1, or b-a+1)
Any explanation would be appreciated. 10 points? (:

Is it f'g(x)? Or f'(g'(x))? Or f(g'(x))? Just confused.
3 AnswersMathematics4 years agoFunny YouTube Videos?
Can anyone tell me some viral videos that are pretty funny / will brighten your mood that most teens probably haven't seen? An example would be Chewbacca Mom.
Whoever gives me the most good ones will be rewarded with best answer:)
1 AnswerYouTube4 years agoWhat kind of psychologist?
Hello, I need a quote for a journalism article from a psychologist, but because psychology is such a wide subject I'm unsure of which kind would be best. The question is:
Why does watching/seeing cute/happy things make us happy as well?
If there's a specific kind of professor for this it would be much appreciated if you let me know. Cheers
2 AnswersPsychology4 years agoDerivatives?
Hi, I'm using the product rule to find the derivative of this:
f(x)=x(x-4)^3
Before you answer this, I'm not supposed to multiply everything out, so don't tell me that please.
Anyways, using the product rule I got to:
f'(x)=(x-4)^3+3x(x-4)^2
I don't know what to do next? Explain to me please.
Thank you, and of course 10 points for anything that helps me(:
4 AnswersMathematics5 years agoHow to approach this?
I'm okay in derivatives but I don't know how to approach this due to there not being any numerical values. Would I use chain rule to get the derivative, and have a g(x) in the answer? Will award best answer :)
Thanks!
Find the derivative of:
f(x)=sqrt*g(x)
1 AnswerMathematics5 years agoHorizontal asymptote?
Horizontal asymptote of
5x^3-2x^2+8
------------------
-3x^3+4x+5
What I'm confused on is if degrees you take into account is just the leading one, or all of them. Example: would you combine the ^3 and ^2 and get ^5, or is it just the ^3 that matters? Does the ^3 and the x make ^4?
1 AnswerMathematics5 years agoWhat is the chance of a mouth cut getting infected?
I had a cavity filled and so while I was sleeping and numb I bit off the skin from the inside of my lip (the length of a nail, not the white part but the skin colored part). It bled and the mext day it was covered in a white solid, .. Thing that covered where I bit the patch of skin off. I already have a bacteriostatic agent mouthwash-like substance but should I get antibiotics as well? What's the chance of infection if I don't? Also, does drinking water and brushing teice a day help with bacteria?
2 AnswersDental6 years agoCan I just take the powder from a KeFlex 500mg capsule?
I have trouble swallowing pills, and the size of this one even though it's not the largest pill is still a decent size and it won't go down most of the time with water. Is it okay to just take the powder out of the capsule, put it in water and stir, then drink that? I want proof that you know what you're talking about, please
2 AnswersMedicine6 years agoWho to drop? (Fantasy Hockey)?
I'm currently gonna add Jaromir Jagr to my team, but I need to drop a player.
Should I drop:
Derick Brassard from the Rangers, who rotates between the 1st and 2nd line and is predicted to get 55-60 points.
Thomas Vanek from the Wild, who plays less than 10 min of ice time a game for now, but still somehow has 3 points already.
Jarome Iginla from the Avalanche, who has a lot of cold and hot streaks and is playing a decent amount of time and has a few points already.
--------------------------------
Please tell me why I should drop whoever you think. Much appreciated, 10 points for the answer I agree with the most.
1 AnswerHockey6 years agoBackfiring government moves?
Does anyone know of any current or recent events where the government of any country made a move which was supposed to help its people, but instead damaged it more than it was before? If this is confusing, here's an example: there's a terrorist attack, and the government increases their security, but to the point where you get pulled over every half hour and you are questioned for "unusual" behavior like going somewhere new on the bus (therefore hurting more people than catching terrorists).
10 points? Thanks to anyone who helps :)
