How did my electric utility's website know who I was without logging in? I only gave the representative my first name.?
I was trying to find out what my login was. So I used the chat option. This freaks me out a little. Below is the transcript.

Frank: How can I help you today?
Me.: I need my login name to view my bill online.
Frank: I'll be glad to assist you in this matter!
Me.: Thank you
Frank: Your user name is: "******"
Me.: How did you know that?
Frank: I access to your information.
Me.: I didnt give you any information other than my fist name
Frank: You previously provided your account number to our system. It recognized it and that helped me finding your information in our system.
Me.: I dont remember doing that to start this chat.
Frank: It was not when you started this chat.
Frank: But our system recognized that your account number is ****************.
Me.: So something is tracking my IP address or something?
Me.: Ive never used this computer to sign on to TXU before
Frank: We do have several security methods. I'm sorry that this could surprised you. It gave me your account number so that's how I found your account information.
Me.: I realize that. But I'd like to know how your system knew my account number without me entering any information
Frank: As I see you have been trying to reset your password since about almost an hour ago.
