  • Who is the best GM in the NBA right now?

Arguments can be made for many but only one can be the best. Back up your claim with some reason if you want best answer, otherwise you are just wasting your time and mine.

  • Are there any other Liberals out there that hope Cain defeats Obama?

If Cain were to beat Obama, that would mean that no matter what the outcome on election night the next president would be black. Sure it would be a loss for my party of choice but it would be a tremendous victory for civil rights in America.

A benefit of an all black presidential election is it raises the ire of racists and reveals them to be exactly what they are. You know some of those good ol boys in the south are dreading Cain getting the GOP nomination just because he is a black man. It would be a death blow to the core philosophies of the KKK,Neo Nazi's and the Aryan Brotherhood. It would drive white supremacists crazy, many of whom vote Republican religiously. But all of those with issues regarding the race of our President will be unable to hide their true colors when they express disgust with both candidates.

Most Americans today are already color blind when it comes to how we view others. And many old timers who came from a time when racial intolerance was commonplace or even publicly accepted are realizing the error of their ways. An all black presidential election would be a triumph for our nation. It would illustrate our level of multicultural unity for all of the world to see. We really have come a long way in 60 years.

  • Does pulling all troops out of Iraq by the end of this year help or hurt Obama's bid for reelection?

I'm not asking if we should have been there or not. The fact of the matter is that we are still there and have been for nearly ten years. Rightfully so or not is irrelevant, whether the invasion and subsequent occupation of Iraq was justified or not is moot. This question is about how the decision to leave Iraq will effect the Presidents prospects for reelection and nothing else.

So Obama is finally withdrawing all troops from Iraq. Is this a victory for his administration or will it somehow reflect negatively on him? Does this bolster or bog down his chances for reelection?

Please follow up your answer with some reasoning. Nothing wastes my time or yours like a one word answer to such an open ended question. Thanks.

  • Are Republicans seething as they watch Obama's speech right now?

Our President is finally starting to squeeze the rich a little bit and increase taxes. He is even reducing the amount of items that are deductible for the richest 2%. This is the guy that i voted for,he is finally showing his face. This is how President Obama deals with shutdown threats.

How are my Republican friends feeling right now?

  • Shouldn't members of the left concede public funding for abortions?

As someone who holds Pro-Choice beliefs,i feel that tax payer dollars should not go to funding such a controversial procedure. Abortions can divide families, congregations, communities and indeed the entire nation so i feel that all of our collective taxes should not pay for such a highly disputed procedure.

An abortion should be paid for by the woman having the procedure,as it is her choice to have it done. We shouldn't have our money paying for her choice. Publicly funding abortions causes more problems then it's worth in my eyes-fiscally,politically and culturally.

Why can't my fellow Democrats see that public money funding abortions is doing more harm then good? Does it not cause more losses then gains in nearly every facet of the issue?

  • What is the difference between a charter school and regular public school in NYC?

I keep hearing about public schools closing and other charter schools popping up in their place. I hate to sound dumb but what exactly is it that makes a charter school a charter school?

Is it that the teachers are not unionized or something along those lines? I really have no idea. Any help is appreciated.

  • Why not make a format for video Q & A on Yahoo Answers? It would weed out most disturbed trolls. Any chance?

I would love to see this turn into a site where questions and answers are done through video, whether it be a webcam or uploaded from a digital camera.

I believe it would hold people more accountable for their questions and answers,it will curb behavior in clear violation of the TOS.

People won't be so quick to be racist or sexist or blatantly antagonistic in the Politics section when their face can be seen and it will also allow for more personal,in depth answers from people who truly have the answers.

Anybody else think this could help clear up some of the hard feelings in the politics section? Why or why not?

  • Can someone explain to me why that maniac in Libya wasn't dealt with after the bombing of Pan Am flight 103?

That flight left from JFK. It had a bomb on it. Libyan intelligence officials were tried and convicted for it's planning. Why didn't the US take Ghaddafi out then?

Did Reagan and Bush Sr fail to strike while the iron was hot?

  • Is "Reaganomics" an outdated theory?

Wealth is supposed to trickle down to the workers. Due to recent advancements in technology, the job is now done quicker and easier by machines. This means business owners all across the board need less workers.

Why should we still give breaks to companies who have less employees to trickle their wealth down upon? As the times change so do the methods for success,so why are many Americans grasping to an economic philosophy that has seemingly been grown out of?

  • If the proposed GOP budget cuts go through, wouldn't it only be fair to expect a rise in the unemployment rate?

It is obvious now that if we cut federal spending it will lead to job loss. Can the GOP justifiably attack Obama if the unemployment rate rises as a direct result of the Republican driven cuts? Conversely,if the government increased spending in an attempt to create job growth could the drop in the unemployment rate be justified by an increased deficit.

    It comes down to this-

    More taxes,more jobs.

    Less taxes,less jobs.

    Which would you prefer?

  • Will the Congressional Republicans' proposed budget cuts hurt American culture?

The GOP wants to stop funding the Corporation for Public Broadcasting,an outlet for fine arts and educational programming.

No more PBS. No more Sesame Street. How will lower class kids ever have a chance to better themselves? How will they learn? I find PBS to be a stepping stone in the educational development of American children and now there is a distinct possibility that future generations won't have the ability to utilize it.

If you can not afford cable/satellite,how will your children get the essential building blocks for cognitive development? Where will disadvantaged people be exposed to classical music, opera, ballet and Masterpiece Theater?

This all could lead to a decline in our culture. It's crazy to think that we live in a society where people pay for the opportunity to see Jersey Shore or Bridalplasty while overlooking the vast importance of the free programming that it is vital for the sustenance of not only the education of our youth, but also our appreciation for the fine arts.

Will these proposed cuts have adverse effects on our culture? Would it attribute to America's continued stupefaction? Does the GOP even care about the arts?

  • How do budget cuts create more jobs?

Now i may be crazy but it seems to me like cutting funding for education, the postal service, law enforcement and first responders(just to name a few)will end with more job loss, not job creation. It seems to me like their plan caters more to the business owner rather then the worker. It seems like it benefits the rich at the expense of the middle and lower classes.

Can someone please explain to me how the GOP's plan for deep budget cuts will lead to a drop in the unemployment rate? How can this help the average middle class American?

  • What do you think of dividing the US into 5 main "provinces" based on geography and state political philosophy?

There seems to be a lot of civil unrest between Americans these days. Contrasting political ideologies has left us with a huge nation whose citizens all want to go different ways. We are becoming ungovernable.

But if we split our 50 states into 5 sections,5 provinces, all united under the same military and US Constitution, but each province would have it's own Supreme Court. This would also lead to increased trade between these provinces to get the goods that they need. I realize this is all pure fantasy, but this is how it would shake out.

    Province "A"

    Maine

    Vermont

    New Hampshire

    Massachusetts

    Rhode Island

    Connecticut

    New York

    New Jersey

    Pennsylvania

    Ohio

    Province "B"

    Wisconsin

    Illinois

    Ohio

    Indiana

    Minnesota

    North Dakota

    South Dakota

    Iowa

    Kentucky

    Missouri

    Province "C"

    Virginia

    West Virginia

    Delaware

    Maryland

    North Carolina

    South Carolina

    Georgia

    Kansas

    Tennessee

    Arkansas

    Province "D"

    Florida

    Alabama

    Mississippi

    Louisiana

    Texas

    Oklahoma

    New Mexico

    Arizona

    Utah

    Colorado

    Province "E"

    California

    Nevada

    Oregon

    Washington

    Alaska

    Hawaii

    Idaho

    Montana

    Wyoming

    Nebraska

If people were able to move to a province that fit their political beliefs instead of complaining, wouldn't that go to ease some tension between fellow countrymen.
