  • Need to find relatives of someone?

I have a bunch of old pics from the Belmont horse races. these pics are horses from a certain farm and trainer. They are from the 60 s. I know the name of the farm and one of the owners (there were 2). One of them was the winner one year. Can someone suggest how I can find relatives of this gentleman. He was from New York. These pics belonged to his wife who was the great aunt of my mother. My mother inherited her house and now my mother has passed. I don t want to just throw them away if someone may be interested. If not, can they be donated somewhere or should I just go ahead and throw them away?

  • Internet connection on Cell phone?

I just got the G2 today from T-mobile (mainly because it was free). When I was playing around with it at home, it was pretty awesome. But now I'm at work and trying to access the internet, but keep getting a message saying no network connection. The signal here in my office is horrible, I keep going from 1 bar and a E to completely down. Does this have something to do with no connection. I have the data plan, so I thought it was supposed to connect no matter where you were (If you can't guess already, I am not technically savvy). Please help, I switched from straight talk (where I always had service no matter where I was) to a smartphone because I needed more than what straight talk could give me.

  • White smoke from exhaust?

I'm reading that white smoke coming from an exhaust means a blown head gasket. I see a lot of cars with white smoke coming from the exhaust, does this mean all these cars have blown head gaskets. When I start my car on a cold morning, I get a small amount of white smoke from the exhaust, sometimes there is more smoke than other times. It usually goes away after I start driving but sometimes I will Look back and see the smoke out my back window but it only lasts for a minute. I have a small car, 2.4 L engine. 2007 model 28K miles. All fluids seem to be ok, oil looks good, Tranny fluid looks good coolant looks good. I am taking the car to the dealer Monday so that they can perform a compression and leak test. Do you guys think I may have a blown head gasket? Do you know what the ballpark figure is to fix this. I still have 34K miles manufacturer warranty (Kia) and an extended warranty to 100K. Should this be covered under one of those?

  • How do I help my daughter - long story, sorry.?

I have 4 kids, 2 boys (22 and 17) and 2 girls (twins 20 yrs). All of the children still live at home. All but the youngest have jobs and one girl is in college and the other will start in the summer. I have always told my kids that when they graduate from high school, they must contribute to the household finances should they decide not to further their education. If they continue to college, they will not be expected to contribute because they would have to college expenses. My husband on the other hand still expects them to at least contribute to the utilities (about 50 dollars a month). This month my daughter gave him money at the beginning of the month. My husband is now telling her at the end of the month that she did not give him the money. They got into an argument and my husband called my daughter a horrible name. A name no father should call his daughter. This is not the first time he has done it. He also told my daughter (in anger) to leave the house. She left and went to stay with her boyfriend, which is not a good thing since he is 23, jobless, no money on probation and she pays for everything they do, his mother waits on him hand and foot and does nothing to encourage him to work and pay his own way. I don't know what to do. Even though my daughter is an adult, she is still my daughter and it aches that he is hurting because of her father. It also makes me angry that he could do that to his own child. I don't know how to explain what kind of man my husband is. As long as everything goes his way, it's a happy place, but once something does not go like he wants, all heck breaks loose. He calls people names, says he don't care about anybody and that he's going to leave and he don't care what we do. He's always yelling about something. You don't know what to say in front of him for fear he will fly off the handle for some reason. It's not like this all the time, but more times than not. I've asked him to leave because we can't continue to live like this and he just says he will leave when he is good and ready. I would leave myself, but I really have nowhere to go. Both my son's say that is just how their dad is and my daughters should just learn to ignore him, my other daughter just fights back. This daughter is the more sensitive one and is the one that gets most of his wrath. I told her she needs to sit down with her father and let him know how it makes her feel when he does this, but she says he just won't listen and I'm afraid she is right, when he knows he wrong he just continues to yell and talk over you and not let you get a word in and it doesn't solve anything. What should I do. I have suggested we all sit down as a family and let each other know how we feel and how other people make us feel so we can work on this issue, but I'm not sure it will do any good. Advise please.

  • Fuel pump relay causing issues?

Would a bad fuel pump relay cause a car to bog down and jerk while driving? I think the relay is bad because the fuel pump keeps priming while the car is on, I can hear the loud humming continuously, it comes on when the key is in ACC mode and doesn't stop. I keep reading on here that the relay is stuck in the open position, but I also have the problem with the bogging down and jerking. Could this be related? (the CIL is on).

  • 96 Dodge Gr. Caravan. Jerking when driving, what is the problem?

Ok, this is hard to explain, but here goes. While driving my van today on the expressway, it started jerking slightly, sort of like it was running out of gas, but I have 3/4 of a tank. it got worse as I was nearing my destination. After turning off the van and then turning it back on after about an hour, it drove Fine for about 10 minutes, then started jerking gain. it never quit, but acted like it wanted to. As I was pulling into my road, it was really bad and didn't seem to want to accelerate. I parked it and had my son take it to Autozone to read the codes (the check engine light is on). he told me that the scanner could not read the codes and the employee told him it may be the ECM. I thought that as long as the van is cranking and running the ECM is fine. I will be taking it to another Autozone tomorrow in case their scanner was bad, but can anyone give me any idea as to what the problem might be. We have done a lot of work on the van recently, new fuel pump, crankshaft sensor, ignition coil, water pump, radiator, all new spark plug wires (we did not change the spark plugs though because we had just changed them a few months ago). Also the intake gaskets and valve cover gaskets were changed. Sorry so long and if more info is needed, let me know. Oh, the van is a 3.0 V6.

  • Van dies when warmed up, what could be the problem?

I have a 96 Dodge Grand Caravan with a 3.OL engine. About two weeks ago, I was driving it and it just cuts off on me. When we let it cool down, it will crank right back up, but when you drive it, just a little way, it dies again. We installed a new ignition coil, that didn't fix it, it still does it. We then changed the fuel pump, still does it. We changed the spark plug wires. This time we got it to a little further, but it cut off again and would not crank up. Every time we try to crank it, we have to charge the battery (the battery is about 5 years old, so that may be a different issue, but before this the van would crank every time, no problem). Any ideas to what it might be. I do not want to put much more money into it trying to find the problem.

  • van cut off while driving?

Ok, I was going to work today and was about 20 minutes into the drive when the van just cut off, no jerk, no nothing, just like someone just cut the switch off. I got it to the side of the road, put it in park and it started right back up. I started to drive it and then it just cut off again. I pulled over again and did the same thing, it went off again. This time it would not even crank, it would turn over, but not catch on. I called the tow truck and when it got there, the driver tried to crank it and it crank right back up, he gave it gas and it acted like nothing was wrong. I had him tow it home anyway, I didn't want to take the Chance of getting stranded again. When we got it home, he drove it right off the wrecker, no problem. The van is a 96 dodge grand caravan with 180K miles. I know it's time to get a new van, but I was hoping this one would last another 6 months (I bought it in 2001 and it has been good to me ever since, but sometimes you have to move on, nothing lasts forever). Could this be the ignition coil or the fuel pump causing this? Oh and it was raining really heavily, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

  • Daughters disrespectful boyfriend?

I need some advise on how to deal with this situation. My daughter is 19 and has a 21 year old boyfriend.I do not like this boyfriend, every time he comes to my house he has to bring three other boys with him, he can never come to visit my daughter alone. He also is one of those boys that wears his pants below his butt, I have a son who is 21 and they all like to hang out together, this is not the issue. The issue is that I have another son who is 16 and he likes to hang out with them also. the issue is that my daughters boyfriend has been being disrespectful to my 16 year old, telling him things like "how can you be a man if your still a virgin?" and then proceeding to brag about how many girls he has had all over the city. The boyfriend refuses to ride in the same car with her (my daughter) if my 16 yr old is in the car, saying he don't like him because he says stupid things. He is always bullying him when they all go out together, telling him that he needs to grow some balls and grow up and stop acting like a baby all the time. I can admit that my 16 yr old is a little immature, maybe is slow at hitting puberty, I don't know. I can't tell my daughter who she can date, but all the people she hangs out with, my son likes to hang out with too. I try to stay out of it and let my children fight their own battles, but this is bothering me too much. I don't like it when someone is disrespecting my family. I am on the verge of letting him know that until he can respect all of my family and be dressed decently, he is not allowed back in my house. Tell me what you would do. Would you just leave this alone and hope it works itself out or would you step in?

  • How much would you ask for this car. Eclipse?

We have a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse. It is an automatic with a 2.0 non turbo. It has about 190K miles. The engine still runs great, however, there is a problem with the transmission. We bought another one, installed it, but it did not work either. We have bought 2 brand new CV axles, all new motor mounts, new ball joints. We put a new paint job on it about 6 months ago, still looks good. Other than the trans issue and needing a cleaning on the inside, everything else is good. The quote we got to rebuild the transmission was 900-1700 with only a 6 month warranty. We want to go ahead and sell the car instead of putting more money into it. How much do you think we can get for the car?

  • 96 Caravan won't start no electrical?

Ok, today I went out to start the van, wouldn't start, did not even try to turn over, I pressed the brake a couple of times and moved the gear shift from park and then back, the van started. Then the gauges (speed, temp and gas) went all the way down, then back to normal. The indicator lights on the AC was flashing (AC worked fine). Against my better judgement, I went ahead and drove the van to work. While I was driving it, it acted like it wanted to shut off, this happened twice. I turned off the radio and the AC. While I was s topped at the traffic light, I could hear what sounded like the AC compressor kicking on, then off (remember the AC is off). When I get my destination, I turn the van off, then try to crank it, nothing. No electrical was working. I heard a loud and fast clicking sound that sounded like it was coming from under the drivers dash. I pushed the brakes, but the brakes were hard and would not push. I tried the gear shift and could not get it out of park. I pushed the brakes again and this time they went down, but as they were coming up, I heard air coming from the AC air vents. I did this several times and got the same thing. Then the clicking sound started again and this time it started when the van was off and the keys were out of the ignition. When I pressed the brakes, the clicking would stop.

What could be the issue with this van? As of right now, It will not start, none of the electrical (cluster panel lights, mileage indicator, nothing) is coming on when the key is in the opne position. Please help.

There is one particular horse that I would like more info on, his name was Amber Morn (1959), there are also some jockeys that interest me - R. Trejo, L. Adams, C. Errico and J.L Rotz. Can someone point me in the right direction?

  • I have a crazy question about Billy Goats?

All of our family members that have passed are buried in a family plot. We have had this land for hundreds of years. We have family that passed in the 1700 and 1800 hundreds buried there. it is about 2 acres, some wooded, some open on a little dirt road out in the country. Today when me, my daughter, my mom and my sister went there to place some flowers on my great grandmothers site, a billy goat come over from across the street. He was a beautiful animal, but I have never been around them and the only thing that went through my mind was that he was going to charge. We got a little scared and jumped back in the car. The goat started jumping up on the car and circling us. He found a tree and it looked like he was sharpening his horns on it, he actually took a lot of the bark off the tree. I'm thinking that the goat was tame though because it did have a collar on and was walking around freely (he came from the peoples house that live across the street from the cemetary). Maybe he was just curious since he had never seen us there before. My questions is, is he harmful? What can we do the next time we want to go to the cemetary and he is there. Please note that this was the first time that we visited the cemetary and he was there, he had never been there before. My uncle does go regularly to cut the grass and clean up around the sites, he did mention that there was goat, but didn't ever say if he has issues with it. If you know anything about billy goats, please tell me if we will be ok to get out of the car next time.

I know this sounds hilarious, we were laughing the whole time we were in the car.
