if you have a horse with navicular how did his symptoms start.?
my mare is 4 and has been diagnosed with navicular. she is not backed yet because every time i start ground work she is lame a few days later. it has taken 6 months to get a diagnosis and now everything seems so bleak. i would like to hear from someone who has had a young horse severely lame with this disease that is now in work and pain free. please share your stories Im desperate. i won't sell her on as i worry about her ending up in a bad home and i can't afford another horse, i really don't want my only horse to be a costly field ornament.
4 AnswersHorses7 years agoIm having a misscarriage, and cant get to hospital?
Im had a miscarriage 48 hours ago, the baby passed but the rest has not. My partner is driving home from work so I can get to hospital but its a 4 hour drive I cant go in until he gets home as I have 2 young children. Im frightened I will have to have a d and c, does anyone who has had a natural miscarriage know how long it takes for the placenta to flush out.
I was about 14 weeks, pregnant, I have had many miscarriages before but they were quite early apart from one that was further along that I did in hospital. Im getting worried now, but I cant distress my children by leaving them with someone they hardly know and I don't know many people im in a new area.
Please no one send negative comments right now I mentally cant deal with it.
1 AnswerWomen's Health7 years agois it true they have active kkk groups in the states?
I ask this question as someone mentioned the kkk in one of their questions on here. I was quite shocked to know that the kkk are still around in states like Mississippi. Is it not illegal? how come they are allowed to still run?.
I thought stuff like this died out years ago. Im quite shocked and disgusted.

I keep my horse at a yard near my house. I pay good rent to keep my horse their and also have one of the best stable's as its bigger and its dry with no leaks.
A new girl came to the yard and insisted her horse had to have my stable, but i stood my ground and said no. Now she has just bought a new horse and is wanting my stable for her new horse. I know the only reason she wants it is because its one of the new stables, rather than a old leaky one. The way i see it is i came first and that's my stable, why should i give up the last good stable to get a leaky one for the same price. The thing is i am hoping to winter my horse out, so i don't eve use the stable at the moment, but their is no shelter in the field so i dont think wintering my horse will be a viable option, so i don't want to loose a good stable if i am going to use it. What would you do? Should i feel pressurised in to giving away my stable or should i stand my ground, she has wanted my stable since the day she got to the yard, and it makes me angry that she keeps asking me about it, as i constantly feel on edge.

I like shows such as Nashville, Heartland, Once upon a time, duck dynasty, that sort of thing. I dont like shows that dont seem to follow a story line if you get what i mean, i like shows that always end in a cliff hanger.
Im so bored of whats on TV and really need to find a new tv show.

5 AnswersHorses8 years agoBreeding a grullo horse?
I am wanting to breed my mare. I want to keep the foal as a second horse so my children may use my mare. Before i get comments about breeding for colour or breeding in general, i wont be breeding just for colour, but it would be a added bonus if i can find a way of upping my odd's for a grullo if the stallion is of good quality. Also my mare is doing well in the show ring, is healthy and of great temperament, everything i think people should look for in a brood mare. I will also be getting a vet to asses her before breeding.
Anyway back to the question. Has anyone managed to breed out of a sorrel mare and get a grullo foal. If so did you use a grullo stallion or was it a fluke out of a different coloured stallion. I love the colour and it really would be the icing on the cake to get a foal from my mare in my fave colour.
My sorrel mare was bred from a black stallion and palomino mare so i am guessing she may also carry cream and black genes as well as the red gene.
1 AnswerHorses8 years agoBest Western Saddle Brands?
I live in the UK so ride english, but want to ride western. I have bought a quarter horse mare and need a saddle for her. I have a budget of about £750 not sure what that is in dollars but know the pound is worth more than the dollar. So what brand of saddle would you go for. I was hoping to go for a saddle that's lighter than a traditional western saddle. I really like the look of the parelli western saddles but the price tag is a joke. Im new to western so know very little so any advice on the subject will be gratefully received :)
1 AnswerHorses8 years agoGoing Barefoot, tips for successful barefooting wanted?
I am hoping to keep my 3 year old mare barefoot, so as a newbie to this wanted to get some tips on how you bare footers keep your horses sound and comfy.
I have been walking my mare out inhand as i hear this helps with the growth and toughness of the hoof. I am walking her over all kinds of terrain. But i worry when i ride her out this will be too much for her, so what boots do you guys use on your horses, do they slip and slide on wet grass in these boots, and do they fall off or get sucked off by mud. How often do you use your boots, i was thinking every other ride and then this way the rough terrain will help toughen the hoof. Also do these boots rub at all?
Also i have heard a low cereal low sugar diet is good for keeping their feet in top shape, i am currently feeding her a balancer and also a conditioning mix which largely consists of chaff, and beet pulp. Its a low sugar high fibre feed. I use this as she does not keep weight on easily. She is out in the field and never stabled but i worry in the winter this will cause her feet to get too wet to barefoot.
2 AnswersHorses8 years agoAre these good quarter horse lines?
I have bought a lovely Quarter horse, i have become very interested in her breed lines and how they effect her temperament, movement etc.
In her lines she has horses such as PC sun socks as a great grand sire, Hollywood all gold, Sun frost, Doc Bar, Leo, My fancy bobby, pesky top hat.
Are any of these horses famous for passing over strong genes, and do you think any of these breed lines really make a difference? If so why.
I am new to quarter horses, i live in the UK and have to say after now owning my own for 3 months i am now in love with this breed. My mare is quick yet quiet, brave, and loves people.
