Will the IRL dump Versus next year, so that everyone can watch a race?
I must admit that I loved the coverage that Versus provided, but I am also with DirecTV, and could not watch the last few races. I was just curious if the IRL was planning to switch to another network, and maybe get some better ratings.
9 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoWhat did you think of Paul Tracy's run this weekend?
Derrick Walker's team with TG Vision support. I would have never guessed that he would have run so well with no experience in the "crapwagon" on a road/street course. Your thoughts, as I think he needs a ride for the rest of this year, and all of next year. I also went to Subway for the first time in a year!
12 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoI feel stupid. Montegi will be live early Saturday on ESPN. Will Long Beach be on any network this weekend ?
Just wondering, and I haven't had a chance to research it, though it might be as easy as looking on the IRL website. But, it's been a while since I've ask a question here. So I'm looking for the dedicated fans to help me out on this one!!!
7 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoAny news about Paul Tracy?
It's almost been a week, and I haven't heard anything about a possible ride for him other than the Long Beach GP. Anyone heard anything? The IndyCar series needs him, as we need to see him and Dan Wheldon get into a good, old fashion slugfest!!!
7 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoWho out there is just happy that the open wheel war is over?
I know there will be unhappy CCWS fans who think it is a sellout. I know this question will also bring out the occasional nascar fan who will bash open wheel racing (nascar fans, please resist the urge to do so, as your answers will just get thumbs down). But who out there in cyberspace is just happy that it is all over, and that we do not have to explain the difference between IRL and Champ Car. As Robin Miller explained clearly, there are a lot of things to hate about the last twelve years, but now we can put all of that behind us, and just go forward. I will attend TMS this June, and be happy that everyone from both sides will be racing there (hopefully 25 cars or more).
15 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoDid Michael Waltrip ever catch that cheater from last year?
I just couldn't resist asking.
4 AnswersNASCAR1 decade agoPredictions for this week?
Does anyone out there who is still a fan of open wheel think that a deal might be struck this week? If it doesn't happen this week, I believe everyone will have to wait another year (or for CCWS to fold).
Nascar fans; as in previous questions posted, just news on open wheel, and no bashing please.
9 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoWhat the hell is going on right now?!?
CCWS Bankrupcy? Derrick Walker tells his truck that is heading to the Sebring test to turn around, and he is now fielding an IRL entry? Kevin says the media leaks hurt a possible merger? Tony, and company to Japan? I've seen all the headlines, and read all of the articles (Speed, ESPN, ect.). Anyone with any information please respond. Anyone with no information, but correcty predicts what the outcome will be will not win anything, but pride. I just can't tell what is going on. It looks like a merger is going to happen pretty quick. But I can't tell what the consequences might be (if any).
9 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoSo Tony George tried to get the open wheel community back together in December. Did anybody here about this?
Tony offered to take Long Beach, Mexico City, Surfers Paradise, and a couple of others, as well as change the date for Montegi. He also offered free chassis and engines to all Champ Car teams if the two series could merge in 2008. I know quite a few of you blame him for the open wheel split, which is rightfully so, but it appears that he is trying his best to bring them back together. From what I hear from Robin Miller on Speed TV, the deal did not come together because one of the Champ Car owners wanted 100 million dollars over ten years. I can't figure out why they would ask for that amount of money when everyone knows Tony won't pay that much, and the Champ Car owners will probably spend about half that amount this year just to promote their own series. All I can say is that Tony is trying, and the Champ Car owner, or owners, are looking pretty stupid right about now. Your thoughts, PLEASE!!!
7 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoAny news on Paul Tracy lately?
I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but I'm curious if anyone has heard any new information. Will Forsythe reconsider? Will another Champ Car team pick him up? Or will he sign into the Indycar Series for a shot at Indy?
6 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoMcLaren will quietly unveil car at testing in January. What do you think of this?
They have also agreed to stop development on key parts of the car (gearbox, ect.). What are the odds of McLaren winning a race next year? What do you think the odds are that they will be a top five, or top ten finishing car in 2008? The way things are looking right now, they might be the Renault of 2007, if that.
6 AnswersFormula One1 decade agoPaul Tracy given ultimatum to renegotiate his contract. Has Forsythe, and Champ Car lost their minds?
This has been reported on Speed TV's website. Does Champ Car expect to keep any loyalty by making decisions like this? I've always been a fan of the IRL since the split, but I have still watched Champ Car (formerly CART). But the way that things are being handled at Champ Car right now, one just has to wonder what they are thinking. If they lose Paul Tracy, they might as well write off next year, and just close up shop!
9 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoMarty Roth signs Howard from IPS, and says he will run a two car team next year. What's the car count ?
If my memory is correct, the IndyCar Series had 18 full time rides last year. Does anyone have a current status of teams, and full time rides for next year (as it stands right now)?
2 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoHas anyone heard anything about Newman/Haas moving to the IRL, and leaving Champ Car ?
I've just heard rumors, but a few say that it will be announced soon. Can anyone give some good information from reliable sources ?
8 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoPenske signs the Aussie, Ryan Briscoe. What do you think of him ?
I watched his interview on Wind Tunnel a couple of months ago, and this guy likes Indy. Does anyone think that with his fifth place finish at Indy this year (with a Penske lease car), that he might be the man to beat next year ? Or will he falter like he did at Ganassi ? Also, please post any current news in open wheel (Champ Car or IRL).
13 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoPeak brand motor oil as sponsor. Mutoh to AGR. Two for one question. Any thoughts ? Good or Bad ?
Just curious to see how everyone feels about Andretti Green hiring Mutoh, and to find out thoughts about the new sponsorship deal.
2 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoHow many cars do you think will run a full IRL schedule next year ?
Do you think the new system of paying every full time team will work to increase the car count at races next year ? This question has probably already been presented here. But I have been away for a few months.
12 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoNo Indycars at Michigan in '08 !? What the heck !!!?
Speed TV is reporting this. I sure hope they are going back to California, or that someone is improving the old Texas World Speedway in College Station, TX to run Indy Cars. At least one open wheel race in America needs to be run on a two mile oval !!! Nice, wide, and not a cookie cutter mile and a half !!!
7 AnswersIndy Racing League (IRL)1 decade agoAny new news in open wheel ? Champ Car future ? IRL on more road courses ?
I know people will be mad at me. Any word on Champ Cars running next season. Any news Tony has been talking to Kevin K. ? Robin Miller, are you out there somewhere ?
