I am 43 years old and have been a mechanic for 27 years. I got my first job at 16 working at a Chevron gas station and garage. I then worked at a Ford/Dodge dealer as a transmission mechanic for 14 years. I then owned my own shop for the next 5 years before going to work at a major utility as a fleet mechanic on their large trucks. I currently hold ASE master certifications in both cars and heavy trucks. I try to answer all questions based on actual experience. Other times I may review the problem with my subscription to All Data Pro which often provides me with additional information such as component locations for some parts and also wiring diagrams and colors. I can't always provide a correct solution. Sometimes all I have to work with is what was provided in the question. This is why it is important to provide as much information as possible in the question. ie: year, make, model, and engine size.
