Why does my car turn off when I press the gas at idle?
I have a 1989 toyota corolla (carburetor) that runs fine at idle but as soon as I press on the gas (or the choke plate opens) it starts to die. I have removed the air cleaner assembly and have noticed that the plate tends to get stuck on the way back to closing. I tested the electric choke with a jumper wire and it heats up/opens ok. I cleaned the linkage area with cleaner and while the parts may move a little better, the problem is still there. I have also replaced the fuel filter (but I don't think that was the issue). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoSpark Plug wires? This car is not as easy as you think?
I am trying to replace spark plug wires on my chevy lumina 1995 3.4L DOHC engine. Due to the awkward position of the route of the wires, I am thinking of re-routing them because they are between too many components that are time consuming to remove. If anyone has done this procedure (or figured out how to do the original route) please let me know. Thanks!
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoIs the cost of living fair in Tucson, AZ?
I live in Los Angeles, and I am finding it very difficult to proceed in pursuing some of my dreams (opening a bar due to limit of liquor licenses and building a 6 unit apartment complex). Everything is just way too overpriced here and I am fed up. I love the city but highly dislike the people here. I grew up here and know you have to put up a tough front, but I am tired of doing that and am considering moving. Anyone who lives in Tucson, AZ please give me your input because I think thats where I should head to

I am trying to get some more tools for my collection but am not sure which brand is a better idea to get. I understand they have a life time warranty. I could definitely use it since the tools I got from AutoZone are starting to break and where out. I am mainly using these tools for automotive work. Any advice would be most appreciated and why. Thanks!
11 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWhy does my car shake for the first few minutes when I start it?
I have a Chevy Lumina 1995 (3.4 DOHC) that shakes and tries to turn off the first few minutes when I start it. In order to keep it going, I have to give it more gas. Afterwards there is no problem. It seems like the fuel has trouble reaching the engine when its cold.
I have already replaced the spark plugs (not easy for this vehicle) and am going to change the fuel filter tomorrow. Any Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoChevy Lumina Fuel Shut-off switch?
Hello. I have a 1995 Chevy Lumina (3.4 DOHC engine) and was wondering if it is equipped with a fuel switch and if so, its location. I have the manual for it but do not see anything (unless I overlooked it). I know that some fords have the switch. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
